 4:1 ¶ Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

 4:1 ¶ Forasmuch thenº asº Christº hath sufferedºº forº usº in the flesh,º armºº yourselvesº likewiseº with theº sameº mind:º forº he that hath sufferedºº inº the fleshº hath ceasedºº from sin;º

 4:2 that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

 4:2 Thatº heºº no longerº should liveºº theº restº of [his] timeº inº the fleshº to the lustsº of men,º butº to the willº of God.º

 4:3 For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:

 4:3 Forº the timeº pastºº of [our] lifeº may sufficeº usº to have wroughtºº theº willº of theº Gentiles,º when we walkedºº inº lasciviousness,º lusts,º excess of wine,º revellings,º banquetings,º andº abominableº idolatries:º

 4:4 wherein they think strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:

 4:4 Whereinºº they think it strangeºº that yeº runºº notº withºº [them] toº theº sameº excessº of riot,º speaking evil ofºº [you]:

 4:5 who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

 4:5 Whoº shall giveºº accountº to him that isºº readyº to judgeºº the quickºº andº the dead.º

 4:6 For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

 4:6 Forº forº this causeº was the gospel preachedºº alsoº to them that are dead,º thatº they might be judgedººº accordingº toº menº in the flesh,º butº liveºº accordingº toº Godº in the spirit.º

 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:

 4:7 Butº theº endº of all thingsº is at hand:ºº be yeºº thereforeº sober,ººº andº watchºº untoº prayer.º

 4:8 above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:

 4:8 Andº aboveº all thingsº haveºº ferventº charityº amongº yourselves:º forº charityº shall coverºº the multitudeº of sins.º

 4:9 using hospitality one to another without murmuring:

 4:9 Use hospitalityº one to anotherºº withoutº grudging.º

 4:10 according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;

 4:10 Asº every manº hath receivedºº the gift,º [even so] ministerºº the sameº one to another,ºº asº goodº stewardsº of the manifoldº graceº of God.º

 4:11 if any man speaketh, [speaking] as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, [ministering] as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

 4:11 If any manº speak,ºº [let him speak] asº the oraclesº of God;º if any manº minister,ºº [let him do it] asº ofº the abilityº whichº Godº giveth:ºº thatº Godº inº all thingsº may be glorifiedºº throughº Jesusº Christ,º to whomº beºº praiseº andº dominionº forº everº and ever.ºº Amen.º

 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:

 4:12 Beloved,º think itºº notº strangeººº concerning theºº fiery trialº whichºº isºº toº tryºº you,º asº though some strange thingº happenedºº unto you:º

 4:13 but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.

 4:13 Butº rejoice,ºº inasmuch asº ye are partakersºº of Christ'sº sufferings;º that,º whenº hisº gloryº shall be revealed,º ye may be gladºº alsoº with exceeding joy.ºº

 4:14 If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; because the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.

 4:14 Ifº ye be reproachedºº forº the nameº of Christ,º happyº [are ye]; forº theº spiritº of gloryº andº of Godº restethºº uponº you:º onºº their partºº heº is evil spoken of,ºº butº onº your partºº he is glorified.ºº

 4:15 For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters:

 4:15 Butº letºº noneºº of youº sufferºº asº a murderer,º orº [as] a thief,º orº [as] an evildoer,º orº asº a busybody in other men's matters.º

 4:16 but if [a man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.

 4:16 Yetº ifº [any man suffer] asº a Christian,º let himºº notº be ashamed;ºº butº let him glorifyºº Godº onº thisº behalf.º

 4:17 For the time [is come] for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if [it begin] first at us, what [shall be] the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?

 4:17 Forº theº timeº [is come] that judgmentº must beginºº atº theº houseº of God:º andº ifº [it] firstº [begin] atº us,º whatº shall theº endº [be] of them that obey notºº theº gospelº of God?º

 4:18 And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?

 4:18 Andº ifº theº righteousº scarcelyº be saved,ºº whereº shallºº theº ungodlyº andº the sinnerº appear?ºº

 4:19 Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

 4:19 Whereforeºº letººº them that sufferºº accordingº toº theº willº of Godº commit the keepingºº ofº theirº soulsº [to him] inº well doing,º asº unto a faithfulº Creator.º
