 5:1 ¶ The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

 5:1 ¶ The eldersº whichº are amongº youº I exhort,ºº whoº am also an elder,º andº a witnessº of theº sufferingsº of Christ,º andº alsoº a partakerº of the gloryº that shallºº be revealed:ºº

 5:2 Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to [the will of] God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

 5:2 Feedºº theº flockº of Godº which is amongº you,º taking the oversightºº [thereof], notº by constraint,º butº willingly;º notº for filthy lucre,º butº of a ready mind;º

 5:3 neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.

 5:3 Neitherº asº being lords overºº [God's] heritage,º butº beingºº ensamplesº to theº flock.º

 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.

 5:4 Andº when theº chief Shepherdº shall appear,ºº ye shall receiveºº a crownº of gloryº that fadeth not away.º

 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

 5:5 Likewise,º ye younger,º submit yourselvesºº unto the elder.º Yea,º allº [of you] be subjectºº one to another,º andº be clothedºº withº humility:º forº Godº resistethºº the proud,º andº givethºº graceº to the humble.º

 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;

 5:6 Humble yourselvesºº thereforeº underº theº mightyº handº of God,º thatº he may exaltºº youº inº due time:º

 5:7 casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you.

 5:7 Castingºº allº yourº careº uponº him;º forº heº carethºº forº you.º

 5:8 Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,

 5:8 Be sober,ºº be vigilant;ºº becauseº yourº adversaryº the devil,º asº a roaringºº lion,º walketh about,ºº seekingºº whomº he may devour:ºº

 5:9 whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.

 5:9 Whomº resistºº stedfastº in theº faith,º knowingºº that theº sameº afflictionsº are accomplishedºº in yourº brethrenº that are inº the world.º

 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you.

 5:10 Butº theº Godº of allº grace,º whoº hath calledºº usº untoº hisºº eternalº gloryº byº Christº Jesus,º after that ye have sufferedºº a while,ºº makeºº youº perfect,ººº stablish,ºº strengthen,ºº settleºº [you].

 5:11 To him [be] the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

 5:11 To himº [be] gloryº andº dominionº forº everº and ever.ºº Amen.º

 5:12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I account [him], I have written unto you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand ye fast therein.

 5:12 Byº Silvanus,º a faithfulº brotherº unto you,º asº I suppose,ºº I have writtenºº briefly,ºº exhorting,ºº andº testifyingºº that thisº isºº the trueº graceº of Godº whereinºº ye stand.ºº

 5:13 She that is in Babylon, elect together with [you], saluteth you; and [so doth] Mark my son.

 5:13 Theº [church that is] atº Babylon,º elected together withº [you], salutethºº you;º andº [so doth] Marcusº myº son.º

 5:14 Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ.

 5:14 Greetº yeºº one anotherº withº a kissº of charity.º Peaceº [be] with youº allº thatº are inº Christº Jesus.º Amen.º
