 2:1 ¶ Now we beseech you, brethren, touching the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him;

 2:1 ¶ Nowº we beseechºº you,º brethren,º byº theº comingº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ,º andº [by] ourº gathering togetherº untoº him,º

 2:2 to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand;

 2:2 Thatº yeº beºº notº soonº shakenºº inº mind,º orº be troubled,ºº neitherº byº spirit,º norº byº word,º norº byº letterº asº fromº us,º asº thatº theº dayº of Christº is at hand.ºº

 2:3 let no man beguile you in any wise: for [it will not be], except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

 2:3 Letºº noº manº deceiveºº youº byº anyº means:º forº [that day shall not come], exceptº there comeºº a falling awayº first,º andº that manº of sinº be revealed,ºº theº sonº of perdition;º

 2:4 he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

 2:4 Whoº opposethºº andº exaltethºº himselfº aboveº allº that is calledºº God,º orº that is worshipped;º soº thatº heº asº Godº sittethºº inº theº templeº of God,º shewingºº himselfº thatº he isºº God.º

 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

 2:5 Rememberº yeºº not,º that,º when I wasºº yetº withº you,º I toldºº youº these things?º

 2:6 And now ye know that which restraineth, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

 2:6 Andº nowº ye knowºº what withholdethºº thatº heº might be revealedºº inº hisº time.º

 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only [there is] one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way.

 2:7 Forº theº mysteryº of iniquityº dothºº alreadyº work:ºº onlyº he who nowº lettethººº [will let], untilº he be takenºº out ofº the way.º

 2:8 And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of his coming;

 2:8 Andº thenº shallºº that Wickedº be revealed,ºº whomº theº Lordº shall consumeºº with theº spiritº of hisºº mouth,º andº shall destroyºº with theº brightnessº of hisºº coming:º

 2:9 [even he], whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

 2:9 [Even him], whoseº comingº isºº afterº the workingº of Satanº withº allº powerº andº signsº andº lyingº wonders,º

 2:10 and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

 2:10 Andº withº allº deceivablenessº of unrighteousnessº inº them that perish;ºº becauseºº they receivedºº notº theº loveº of theº truth,º thatº theyº might be saved.ºº

 2:11 And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:

 2:11 Andº for thisº causeºº Godº shall sendºº themº strongº delusion,ºº thatº theyº should believeºº a lie:º

 2:12 that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

 2:12 Thatº they allº might be damnedºº whoº believedºº notº theº truth,º butº had pleasureºº inº unrighteousness.ºº

 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

 2:13 Butº weº are boundºº to give thanksºº alwayº to Godº forº you,º brethrenº belovedºº ofº the Lord,º becauseº Godº hathºº fromº the beginningº chosenºº youº toº salvationº throughº sanctificationº of the Spiritº andº beliefº of the truth:º

 2:14 whereunto he called you through our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 2:14 Whereuntoºº he calledºº youº byº ourº gospel,º toº the obtainingº of the gloryº of ourº Lordº Jesusº Christ.º

 2:15 So then, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye were taught, whether by word, or by epistle of ours.

 2:15 Therefore,ºº brethren,º stand fast,ºº andº holdºº theº traditionsº whichº ye have been taught,ºº whetherº byº word,º orºº ourº epistle.º

 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

 2:16 Nowº ourº Lordº Jesusº Christº himself,º andº God,º evenº ourº Father,º whichº hath lovedºº us,º andº hath givenºº [us] everlastingº consolationº andº goodº hopeº throughº grace,º

 2:17 comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

 2:17 Comfortºº yourº hearts,º andº stablishºº youº inº everyº goodº wordº andº work.º
