 2:1 ¶ In the seventh [month], in the one and twentieth [day] of the month, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

 2:1 ¶ In the seventhº [month], in the oneº and twentiethº [day] of the month,º cameº the wordº of the LORDº byº the prophetº Haggai,º saying,ºº

 2:2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

 2:2 Speakºº nowº toº Zerubbabelº the sonº of Shealtiel,º governorº of Judah,º and toº Joshuaº the sonº of Josedech,º the highº priest,º and toº the residueº of the people,º saying,ºº

 2:3 Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes as nothing?

 2:3 Whoº [is] leftºº among you thatº sawººº thisº houseº in her firstº glory?º and howº do yeº seeºº it now?º [is it] notº in your eyesº in comparisonº of itº as nothing?º

 2:4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith Jehovah; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith Jehovah, and work: for I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts,

 2:4 Yet nowº be strong,ºº O Zerubbabel,º saithºº the LORD;º and be strong,ºº O Joshua,º sonº of Josedech,º the highº priest;º and be strong,ºº allº ye peopleº of the land,º saithºº the LORD,º and work:ºº forº Iº [am] withº you, saithºº the LORDº of hosts:º

 2:5 [according to] the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, and my Spirit abode among you: fear ye not.

 2:5 [According to]º the wordº thatº I covenantedºº withº you when ye cameºº outº of Egypt,ºº so my spiritº remainethºº amongº you: fearºº ye not.º

 2:6 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

 2:6 Forº thusº saithºº the LORDº of hosts;º Yetº once,º itº [is] a little while,º and Iº will shakeººº the heavens,º and the earth,º and the sea,º and the dryº [land];

 2:7 and I will shake all nations; and the precious things of all nations shall come; and I will fill this house with glory, saith Jehovah of hosts.

 2:7 And I will shakeººº allº nations,º and the desireº of allº nationsº shall come:ºº and I will fillººº thisº houseº with glory,º saithºº the LORDº of hosts.º

 2:8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith Jehovah of hosts.

 2:8 The silverº [is] mine, and the goldº [is] mine, saithºº the LORDº of hosts.º

 2:9 The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, saith Jehovah of hosts; and in this place will I give peace, saith Jehovah of hosts.

 2:9 The gloryº of thisº latterº houseº shall beº greaterº thanºº of the former,º saithººº the LORDº of hosts:º and in thisº placeº will I giveºº peace,º saithººº the LORDº of hosts.º

 2:10 ¶ In the four and twentieth [day] of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

 2:10 ¶ In the fourº and twentiethº [day] of the ninthº [month], in the secondº yearº of Darius,º cameº the wordº of the LORDº byºº Haggaiº the prophet,º saying,ºº

 2:11 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

 2:11 Thusº saithºº the LORDº of hosts;º Askºº nowºº the priestsº [concerning] the law,º saying,ºº

 2:12 If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it become holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

 2:12 Ifº oneº bearºº holyº fleshº in the skirtº of his garment,º and with his skirtº do touchººº bread,º or pottage,º or wine,º or oil,º or anyº meat,º shall it be holy?ºº And the priestsº answeredºº and said,ºº No.º

 2:13 Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

 2:13 Then saidºº Haggai,º Ifº [one that is] uncleanº by a dead bodyº touchºº anyº of these,º shall it be unclean?ºº And the priestsº answeredºº and said,ºº It shall be unclean.ºº

 2:14 Then answered Haggai and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith Jehovah; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

 2:14 Then answeredºº Haggai,º and said,ºº Soº [is] thisº people,º and soº [is] thisº nationº beforeº me, saithºº the LORD;º and soº [is] everyº workº of their hands;º and that whichº they offerºº thereº [is] unclean.º

 2:15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of Jehovah.

 2:15 And now,º I pray you,º considerººº fromº thisº dayº and upward,º from beforeºº a stoneº was laidºº uponº a stoneº in the templeº of the LORD:º

 2:16 Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty [measures], there were but ten; when one came to the winevat to draw out fifty [vessels], there were but twenty.

 2:16 Since those [days] were,ºº when [one] cameºº toº an heapº of twentyº [measures], there wereº [but] ten:º when [one] cameºº toº the pressfatº for to draw outºº fiftyº [vessels] out of the press,º there wereº [but] twenty.º

 2:17 I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the work of your hands; yet ye [turned] not to me, saith Jehovah.

 2:17 I smoteºº you with blastingº and with mildewº and with hailº inº allº the laboursº of your hands;º yet ye [turned] notº toº me, saithºº the LORD.º

 2:18 Consider, I pray you, from this day and backward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth [month], since the day that the foundation of Jehovah's temple was laid, consider it.

 2:18 Considerººº nowº fromº thisº dayº and upward,º from the fourº and twentiethº dayºº of the ninthº [month, even] fromº the dayº thatº the foundationºº of the LORD'Sº templeº was laid,ººº considerººº [it].

 2:19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, the vine, and the fig-tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive-tree have not brought forth; from this day will I bless [you].

 2:19 Is the seedº yetº in the barn?º yea, as yetº the vine,º and the fig tree,º and the pomegranate,º and the oliveº tree,º hath notº brought forth:ºº fromº thisº dayº will I blessºº [you].

 2:20 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came the second time unto Haggai in the four and twentieth [day] of the month, saying,

 2:20 ¶ And againº the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº Haggaiº in the fourº and twentiethº [day] of the month,º saying,ºº

 2:21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

 2:21 Speakºº toº Zerubbabel,º governorº of Judah,º saying,ºº Iº will shakeººº the heavensº and the earth;º

 2:22 and I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

 2:22 And I will overthrowºº the throneº of kingdoms,º and I will destroyºº the strengthº of the kingdomsº of the heathen;º and I will overthrowºº the chariots,º and those that rideºº in them; and the horsesº and their ridersºº shall come down,ºº every oneº by the swordº of his brother.º

 2:23 In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith Jehovah, and will make thee as a signet; for I have chosen thee, saith Jehovah of hosts.

 2:23 In thatº day,º saithºº the LORDº of hosts,º will I takeºº thee, O Zerubbabel,º my servant,º the sonº of Shealtiel,º saithºº the LORD,º and will makeºº thee as a signet:º forº I have chosenºº thee, saithºº the LORDº of hosts.º
