 2:1 ¶ But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine:

 2:1 ¶ Butº speakºº thouº the things whichº becomeºº soundºº doctrine:º

 2:2 that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience:

 2:2 That the aged menº beºº sober,º grave,º temperate,º soundºº in faith,º in charity,º in patience.º

 2:3 that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;

 2:3 The aged womenº likewise,º that [they be] inº behaviourº as becometh holiness,º notº false accusers,º notº givenºº to muchº wine,º teachers of good things;º

 2:4 that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

 2:4 Thatº they may teachºº the young womenº to beºº sober,ºººº toº love their husbands,º to love their children,º

 2:5 [to be] sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed:

 2:5 [To be] discreet,º chaste,º keepers at home,º good,º obedientºº to their ownº husbands,º thatººº theº wordº of Godº beºº notºº blasphemed.ºº

 2:6 the younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded:

 2:6 Young menº likewiseº exhortºº to be sober minded.ºº

 2:7 in all things showing thyself an ensample of good works; in thy doctrine [showing] uncorruptness, gravity,

 2:7 Inº all thingsº shewingºº thyselfº a patternº of goodº works:º inº doctrineº [shewing] uncorruptness,º gravity,º sincerity,º

 2:8 sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us.

 2:8 Soundº speech,º that cannot be condemned;º thatº heº that is ofº the contrary partº may be ashamed,ºº havingºº noºº evilº thingºº to sayºº ofº you.º

 2:9 [Exhort] servants to be in subjection to their own masters, [and] to be well-pleasing [to them] in all things; not gainsaying;

 2:9 [Exhort] servantsº to be obedientºº unto their ownº masters,º [and]º toºº please [them] wellº inº allº [things]; notº answering again;ºº

 2:10 not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

 2:10 Notº purloining,ºº butº shewingºº allº goodº fidelity;º thatº they may adornºº theº doctrineº of Godº ourº Saviourº inº all things.º

 2:11 For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,

 2:11 Forº theº graceº of Godº that bringeth salvationº hath appearedºº to allº men,º

 2:12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;

 2:12 Teachingºº usº that,º denyingºº ungodlinessº andº worldlyº lusts,º we should liveºº soberly,ºº righteously,ºº andº godly,º inº this presentº world;º

 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

 2:13 Looking forºº that blessedº hope,º andº theº gloriousº appearingº of theº greatº Godº andº ourº Saviourº Jesusº Christ;º

 2:14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

 2:14 Whoº gaveºº himselfº forº us,º thatº he might redeemºº usº fromº allº iniquity,º andº purifyºº unto himselfº a peculiarº people,º zealousº of goodº works.º

 2:15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

 2:15 These thingsº speak,ºº andº exhort,ºº andº rebukeºº withº allº authority.º Letºº no manº despiseºº thee.º
