 8:1 ¶
O thatººº
thou [wert] as my brother,º
that suckedºº
the breastsº
of my mother!º
[when] I should findºº
thee without,º
I would kissºº
thee; yea,º
I should notº
be despised.ºº |
|
 8:1 ¶
O that thou [wert] as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! [when] I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised. |
 8:2
I would leadºº
thee, [and] bringºº
thee intoº
my mother'sº
house,º
[who] would instructºº
me: I would cause thee to drinkºº
of spicedº
wineºº
of the juiceºº
of my pomegranate.º |
|
 8:2
I would lead thee, [and] bring thee into my mother's house, [who] would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate. |
 8:3
His left handº
[should be] underº
my head,º
and his right handº
should embraceºº
me. |
|
 8:3
His left hand [should be] under my head, and his right hand should embrace me. |
 8:4
I chargeºº
you, O daughtersº
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º
thatº
ye stir not up,ºº
norº
awakeººº
[my] love,º
untilº
he please.ººº |
|
 8:4
I charge you, O daughters of Yerushalaim, that ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love, until he please. |
 8:5
Whoº
[is] thisº
that cometh upºº
fromº
the wilderness,º
leaningºº
uponº
her beloved?º
I raisedºº
thee upº
underº
the apple tree:º
thereº
thy motherº
brought thee forth:ºº
thereº
she brought thee forthºº
[that] bareºº
thee. |
|
 8:5
Who [is] this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth [that] bare thee. |
 8:6 ¶
Setºº
me as a sealº
uponº
thine heart,º
as a sealº
uponº
thine arm:º
forº
loveº
[is] strongº
as death;º
jealousyº
[is] cruelº
as the grave:º
the coalsº
thereof [are] coalsº
of fire,º
[which hath a] most vehement flame.º |
|
 8:6 ¶
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love [is] strong as death; jealousy [is] cruel as the grave: the coals thereof [are] coals of fire, [which hath a] most vehement flame. |
 8:7
Manyº
watersº
cannotºººº
quenchºº
love,º
neitherº
can the floodsº
drownºº
it: ifº
[a] manº
would giveººº
allº
the substanceº
of his houseº
for love,º
it would utterlyºº
be contemned.ºº |
|
 8:7
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if [a] man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. |
 8:8 ¶
We have a littleº
sister,º
and she hath noº
breasts:º
whatº
shall we doºº
for our sisterº
in the dayº
when she shall be spoken for?ººº |
|
 8:8 ¶
We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for? |
 8:9
Ifº
sheº
[be] a wall,º
we will buildºº
uponº
her a palaceº
of silver:º
and ifº
sheº
[be] a door,º
we will incloseººº
her with boardsº
of cedar.º |
|
 8:9
If she [be] a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she [be] a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar. |
 8:10
Iº
[am] a wall,º
and my breastsº
like towers:º
thenº
wasº
I in his eyesº
as one that foundºº
favour.º |
|
 8:10
I [am] a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour. |

שְׁלֹמֹה,º
[must have] a thousand,º
and those that keepººº
the fruitº
thereof two hundred.º |
|
 8:12

in the gardens,º
the companionsº
hearkenºº
to thy voice:º
cause me to hearºº
[it]. |
|
 8:13
Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear [it]. |
 8:14 ¶
Make haste,ºº
my beloved,º
and be thou likeºº
to a roeº
orº
to a youngº
hartº
uponº
the mountainsº
of spices.º |
|

Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices. |
