The vision of Yeshayah the son of Amotz, which he saw concerning Yehudah and Yerushalaim in the days of Uzziyyah, Yotham, Achaz, [and] Chizqiyyah, kings of Yehudah. |

O heavens,º
and give ear,ºº
O earth:º
forº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath spoken,ºº
I have nourishedºº
and brought upºº
children,º
and theyº
have rebelledºº
against me. |

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for Yahweh hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. |

his owner,ºº
and the assº
his master'sº
crib:º
[but]

know,ºº
my peopleº
doth notº

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: [but] Yisrael doth not know, my people doth not consider. |

with iniquity,º
a seedº

they have forsakenººº

they have provokedººº
the Holy Oneº

יִשׂרָאֵלº
unto anger,ºº
they are gone awayºº

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken Yahweh, they have provoked the Holy One of Yisrael unto anger, they are gone away backward. |

Whyºº
should ye be strickenºº
any more?º
ye will revoltº
more and more:ºº
the wholeº
headº
is sick,º
and the wholeº
heartº
faint.º |

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. |

From the soleºº
of the footº
even untoº
the headº
[there is] noº
soundnessº
in it; [but] wounds,º
and bruises,º
and putrifyingº
sores:º
they have notº
been closed,ºº
neitherº
bound up,ºº
neitherº
mollifiedºº
with ointment.º |

From the sole of the foot even unto the head [there is] no soundness in it; [but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. |

Your countryº
[is] desolate,º
your citiesº
[are] burnedºº
with fire:º
your land,º
strangersºº
devourºº
it in your presence,º
and [it is] desolate,º
as overthrownº
by strangers.ºº |

Your country [is] desolate, your cities [are] burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and [it is] desolate, as overthrown by strangers. |

And the daughterº
of
Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹןº
is leftºº
as a cottageº
in a vineyard,º
as a lodgeº
in a garden of cucumbers,º
as a besiegedºº
city.º |

And the daughter of Tziyyon is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. |

Except Yahweh Tzevaoth had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sedom, [and] we should have been like unto Amorah. |

give earºº
unto the lawº
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
ye peopleº

עֲמֹרָה.º |

Hear the word of Yahweh, ye rulers of Sedom; give ear unto the law of our Elohim, ye people of Amorah. |

To whatº
purpose [is] the multitudeº
of your sacrificesº
unto me? saithºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
I am fullºº
of the burnt offeringsº
of rams,º
and the fatº
of fed beasts;º
and I delightºº
notº
in the bloodº
of bullocks,º
or of lambs,º
or of he goats.º |

To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith Yahweh: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. |

hath requiredºº
thisº
at your hand,ºº
to treadºº
my courts?º |

When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? |

incenseº
is an abominationº
unto me; the new moonsº
and sabbaths,º
the callingºº
of assemblies,º
I cannotºº
away with;ºº
[it is] iniquity,º
even the solemn meeting.º |

Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; [it is] iniquity, even the solemn meeting. |

and your appointed feastsº

a troubleº
unto me;º
I am wearyºº
to bearºº
[them]. |

Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear [them]. |

mine eyesº

you: yea,º

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; |

Come now, and let us reason together, saith Yahweh: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. |

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: |

with the sword:º

But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of Yahweh hath spoken [it]. |

is the faithfulºº

an harlot!ºº
it was fullº
of judgment;º
righteousnessº
lodgedºº
in it; but nowº
murderers.ºº |

How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. |

Thy silverº
is becomeº
dross,º
thy wineº
mixedºº
with water:º |

Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: |

Thy princesº
[are] rebellious,ºº
and companionsº
of thieves:º

gifts,º

they judgeºº

the fatherless,º

doth the causeº

Thy princes [are] rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them. |

the mighty Oneº

Ah,º
I will easeºº
me of mine adversaries,ºº
and avengeºº
me of mine enemies:ººº |

Therefore saith Adon, Yahweh Tzevaoth, the mighty One of Yisrael, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: |

And I will turnºº
my handº
uponº
thee, and purelyºº
purge awayºº
thy dross,º
and take awayºº
allº
thy tin:º |
|
1:25 ¶
And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: |

And I will restoreºº
thy judgesºº
as at the first,º
and thy counsellorsºº
as at the beginning:º
afterwardºº
thou shalt be called,ºº
The cityº
of righteousness,º
the faithfulºº
city.º |

And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. |

Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹןº
shall be redeemedºº
with judgment,º
and her convertsºº
with righteousness.º |

Tziyyon shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. |
|

And the destructionº
of the transgressorsºº
and of the sinnersº
[shall be] together,º
and they that forsakeºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
shall be consumed.ºº |

And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners [shall be] together, and they that forsake Yahweh shall be consumed. |

they shall be ashamedºº
of the oaksºº
whichº
ye have desired,ºº
and ye shall be confoundedºº
for the gardensºº
thatº
ye have chosen.ºº |

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen. |

ye shall beº
as an oakº
whose leafº
fadeth,ºº
and as a gardenº
thatº
hath noº

For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. |

And the strongº
shall beº
as tow,º
and the makerº
of it as a spark,º
and they shall bothº
burnºº
together,º
and noneº
shall quenchºº
[them]. |
|

And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench [them]. |
