Daniel 8

1 Daniel's vision of the ram and he goat. 13 The two thousand three hundred days of sacrifice. 15 Gabriel comforteth Daniel, and interpreteth the vision.

 8:1 In the third 7969 year 8141 of the reign 4438 of Belshazzar 1112 the king 4428 a vision 2377 appeared 7200 to me, Daniel 1840, subsequent 310 to the one which appeared 7200 to me previously 8462.

 8:2 I looked 7200 in the vision 2377, and while I was looking 7200 I was in the citadel 1002 of Susa 7800, which 834 is in the province 4082 of Elam 5867a; and I looked 7200 in the vision 2377 and I myself 589 was beside 5921 the Ulai 195 Canal 180.

 8:3 Then I lifted 5375 my eyes 5869 and looked 7200, and behold 2009, a ram 352a which had two horns 7161 was standing 5975 in front 6440 of the canal 180. Now the two horns 7161 [were] long 1364, but one 259 [was] longer 1364 than 4480 the other 8145, with the longer 1364 one 1364 coming 5927 up last 314.

 8:4 I saw 7200 the ram 352a butting 5055 westward 3220, northward 6828, and southward 5045, and no 3808 [other] beasts 2421b could stand 5975 before 6440 him nor 369 was there 369 anyone to rescue 5337 from his power 3027, but he did 6213a as he pleased 7522 and magnified 1431 [himself].

 8:5 ¶ While I was observing 995, behold 2009, a male 6842 goat 6842 was coming 935 from the west 4628 over 5921 the surface 6440 of the whole 3605 earth 776 without 369 touching 5060 the ground 776; and the goat 6842 [had] a conspicuous 2380 horn 7161 between 996 his eyes 5869.

 8:6 He came 935 up to the ram 352a that had the two horns 7161, which 834 I had seen 7200 standing 5975 in front 6440 of the canal 180, and rushed 7323 at him in his mighty 3581b wrath 2534.

 8:7 I saw 7200 him come 5060 beside 681a the ram 352a, and he was enraged 4843 at him; and he struck 5221 the ram 352a and shattered 7665 his two 8147 horns 7161, and the ram 352a had 1961 no 3808 strength 3581b to withstand 5975 him. So he hurled 7993 him to the ground 776 and trampled 7429 on him, and there was none 3808 to rescue 5337 the ram 352a from his power 3027.

 8:8 Then the male 6842 goat 5795 magnified 1431 [himself] exceedingly 5704 3966. But as soon as he was mighty 6105a, the large 1419 horn 7161 was broken 7665; and in its place 8478 there came 5927 up four 702 conspicuous 2380 [horns] toward the four 702 winds 7307 of heaven 8064.

 8:9 ¶ Out of one 259 of them came 3318 forth 3318 a rather small 6810 horn 7161 which grew 1431 exceedingly 3499a great 1431 toward 413 the south 5045, toward 413 the east 4217, and toward 413 the Beautiful 6643a [Land].

 8:10 It grew 1431 up to the host 6635 of heaven 8064 and caused some 4480 of the host 6635 and some 4480 of the stars 3556 to fall 5307 to the earth 776, and it trampled 7429 them down 7429.

 8:11 It even 5704 magnified 1431 [itself] to be equal 5704 with the Commander 8269 of the host 6635; and it removed 7311 the regular 8548 sacrifice 8548 from Him, and the place 4349 of His sanctuary 4720 was thrown 7993 down 7993.

 8:12 And on account of transgression 6588 the host 6635 will be given 5414 over [to the horn] along 5921 with the regular 8548 sacrifice 8548; and it will fling 7993 truth 571 to the ground 776 and perform 6213a [its will] and prosper 6743b.

 8:13 Then I heard 8085 a holy 6918 one 6918 speaking 1696, and another 259 holy 6918 one 6918 said 559 to that particular 6423 one 6423 who was speaking 1696, “How 4970 long 5704 4970 will the vision 2377 [about] the regular 8548 sacrifice 8548 apply, while the transgression 6588 causes 8074 horror 8074, so as to allow 5414 both the holy 6944 place and the host 6635 to be trampled 4823?”

 8:14 He said 559 to me, “For 2,300 505 7969 3967 evenings 6153 [and] mornings 1242; then the holy 6944 place will be properly 6663 restored 6663.”

 8:15 ¶ When I, Daniel 1840, had seen 7200 the vision 2377, I sought 1245 to understand 998 it; and behold 2009, standing 5975 before 5048 me was one who 4758 looked 4758 like a man 1397.

 8:16 And I heard 8085 the voice 6963 of a man 120 between 996 [the banks of] Ulai 195, and he called 7121 out and said 559, “Gabriel 1403, give 995 this 1975 [man] an understanding 995 of the vision 4758.”

 8:17 So he came 935 near 681a to where 5977 I was standing 5977, and when he came 935 I was frightened 1204 and fell 5307 on my face 6440; but he said 559 to me, “Son 1121 of man 120, understand 995 that the vision 2377 pertains to the time 6256 of the end 7093.”

 8:18 ¶ Now while he was talking 1696 with me, I sank 7290a into a deep 7290a sleep 7290a with my face 6440 to the ground 776; but he touched 5060 me and made me stand 5975 upright 5921 5977.

 8:19 He said 559, “Behold 2009, I am going to let you know 3045 what 834 will occur 1961 at the final 319 period 319 of the indignation 2195, for [it] pertains to the appointed 4150 time 4150 of the end 7093.

 8:20 “The ram 352a which 834 you saw 7200 with the two horns 7161 represents the kings 4428 of Media 4074 and Persia 6539.

 8:21 “The shaggy 8163a goat 5795 [represents] the kingdom 4428 of Greece 3120, and the large 1419 horn 7161 that is between 996 his eyes 5869 is the first 7223 king 4428.

 8:22 “The broken 7665 [horn] and the four 702 [horns that] arose 5975 in its place 8478 [represent] four 702 kingdoms 4438 [which] will arise 5975 from [his] nation 1471, although not with his power 3581b.

 8:23 “In the latter 319 period 319 of their rule 4438, When the transgressors 6586 have run 8552 [their course], A king 4428 will arise 5975, Insolent 5794 6440 and skilled 995 in intrigue 2420.

 8:24 “His power 3581b will be mighty 6105a, but not by his [own] power 3581b, And he will destroy 7843 to an extraordinary 6381 degree 6381 And prosper 6743b and perform 6213a [his will]; He will destroy 7843 mighty 6099 men 6099 and the holy 6918 people 5971a.

 8:25 “And through 5921 his shrewdness 7922 He will cause deceit 4820 to succeed 6743b by his influence 3027; And he will magnify 1431 [himself] in his heart 3824, And he will destroy 7843 many 7227a while [they are] at ease 7962. He will even oppose 5975 the Prince 8269 of princes 8269, But he will be broken 7665 without 657 human 3027 agency 3027.

 8:26 “The vision 4758 of the evenings 6153 and mornings 1242 Which 834 has been told 559 is true 571; But keep 5640 the vision 2377 secret 5640, For [it] pertains to many 7227a days 3117 [in the future].”

 8:27 ¶ Then I, Daniel 1840, was exhausted 1961 and sick 2470a for days 3117. Then I got 6965 up [again] and carried 6213a on the king’s 4428 business 4399; but I was astounded 8074 at the vision 4758, and there 369 was none 369 to explain 995 [it].
