John 10

1 Christ is the door, and the good shepherd. 19 Divers opinions of him. 24 He proveth by his works that he is the Christ the Son of God, 39 escapeth the Jews, 40 and went again beyond Jordan, where many believed on him.

10:1 “Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, he who does not enter 1525 by the door 2374 into the fold 833 of the sheep 4263b, but climbs 305 up some 237a other 237a way 237a, he is a thief 2812 and a robber 3027.

10:2 “But he who enters 1525 by the door 2374 is a shepherd 4166 of the sheep 4263b.

10:3 “To him the doorkeeper 2377 opens 455, and the sheep 4263b hear 191 his voice 5456, and he calls 5455 his own 2398 sheep 4263b by name 3686 and leads 1806 them out.

10:4 “When 3752 he puts 1544b forth 1544b all 3956 his own 2398, he goes 4198 ahead 1715 of them, and the sheep 4263b follow 190 him because 3754 they know 3609a his voice 5456.

10:5 “A stranger 245 they simply will not follow 190, but will flee 5343 from him, because 3754 they do not know 3609a the voice 5456 of strangers 245.”

10:6 This 3778 figure 3942 of speech 3942 Jesus 2424 spoke 3004 to them, but they did not understand 1097 what 5101 those things were which 3739 He had been saying 2980 to them.

10:7 ¶ So 3767 Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them again 3825, “Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, I am 1510 the door 2374 of the sheep 4263b.

10:8 “All 3956 who 3745 came 2064 before 4253 Me are thieves 2812 and robbers 3027, but the sheep 4263b did not hear 191 them.

10:9 “I am 1510 the door 2374; if 1437 anyone 5100 enters 1525 through 1223 Me, he will be saved 4982, and will go 1525 1831 in and out and find 2147 pasture 3542.

10:10 “The thief 2812 comes 2064 only 3756 1487 3361 to steal 2813 and kill 2380 and destroy 622; I came 2064 that they may have 2192 life 2222, and have 2192 [it] abundantly 4053.

10:11 ¶ “I am 1510 the good 2570 shepherd 4166; the good 2570 shepherd 4166 lays 5087 down 5087 His life 5590 for the sheep 4263b.

10:12 “He who is a hired 3411 hand 3411, and not a shepherd 4166, who 3739 is not the owner 2398 of the sheep 4263b, sees 2334 the wolf 3074 coming 2064, and leaves 863 the sheep 4263b and flees 5343, and the wolf 3074 snatches 726 them and scatters 4650 [them].

10:13 “[He flees] because 3754 he is a hired 3411 hand 3411 and is not concerned 3199 about 4012 the sheep 4263b.

10:14 “I am 1510 the good 2570 shepherd 4166, and I know 1097 My own 1699 and My own 1699 know 1097 Me,

10:15 even 2531a as the Father 3962 knows 1097 Me and I know 1097 the Father 3962; and I lay 5087 down 5087 My life 5590 for the sheep 4263b.

10:16 “I have 2192 other 243 sheep 4263b, which 3739 are not of this 3778 fold 833; I must 1163 bring 71 them also 2548, and they will hear 191 My voice 5456; and they will become 1096 one 1520 flock 4167 [with] one 1520 shepherd 4166.

10:17 “For this 3778 reason 1223 the Father 3962 loves 25 Me, because 3754 I lay 5087 down 5087 My life 5590 so 2443 that I may take 2983 it again 3825.

10:18 “No 3762 one 3762 has taken 142 it away 142 from Me, but I lay 5087 it down 5087 on My own 1683 initiative 1683. I have 2192 authority 1849 to lay 5087 it down 5087, and I have 2192 authority 1849 to take 2983 it up again 3825. This 3778 commandment 1785 I received 2983 from My Father 3962.”

10:19 ¶ A division 4978 occurred 1096 again 3825 among 1722 the Jews 2453 because 1223 of these 3778 words 3056.

10:20 Many 4183 of them were saying 3004, “He has 2192 a demon 1140 and is insane 3105. Why 5101 do you listen 191 to Him?”

10:21 Others 243 were saying 3004, “These 3778 are not the sayings 4487 of one demon-possessed 1139. A demon 1140 cannot 1410 3361 open 455 the eyes 3788 of the blind 5185, can he?”

10:22 ¶ At that time 5119 the Feast 1456 of the Dedication 1456 took 1096 place 1096 at Jerusalem 2414;

10:23 it was winter 5494, and Jesus 2424 was walking 4043 in the temple 2413 in the portico 4745 of Solomon 4672.

10:24 The Jews 2453 then 3767 gathered 2944 around 2944 Him, and were saying 3004 to Him, “How 2193 long 2193 4219 will You keep 142 us in suspense 5590 142? If 1487 You are the Christ 5547, tell 3004 us plainly 3954.”

10:25 Jesus 2424 answered 611 them, “I told 3004 you, and you do not believe 4100; the works 2041 that I do 4160 in My Father’s 3962 name 3686, these 3778 testify 3140 of Me.

10:26 “But you do not believe 4100 because 3754 you are not of My sheep 4263b.

10:27 “My sheep 4263b hear 191 My voice 5456, and I know 1097 them, and they follow 190 Me;

10:28 and I give 1325 eternal 166 life 2222 to them, and they will never 3756 3361 perish 622; and no 3756 one 5100 will snatch 726 them out of My hand 5495.

10:29 “My Father 3962, who 3739 has given 1325 [them] to Me, is greater 3173 than all 3956; and no 3762 one 3762 is able 1410 to snatch 726 [them] out of the Father’s 3962 hand 5495.

10:30 “I and the Father 3962 are one 1520.”

10:31 ¶ The Jews 2453 picked 941 up stones 3037 again 3825 to stone 3034 Him.

10:32 Jesus 2424 answered 611 them, “I showed 1166 you many 4183 good 2570 works 2041 from the Father 3962; for which 4169 of them are you stoning 3034 Me?”

10:33 The Jews 2453 answered 611 Him, “For a good 2570 work 2041 we do not stone 3034 You, but for blasphemy 988; and because 3754 You, being 1510 a man 444, make 4160 Yourself 4572 out [to be] God 2316.”

10:34 Jesus 2424 answered 611 them, “Has it not been 1510 written 1125 in your Law 3551, ‘I SAID 3004, YOU ARE GODS 2316’?

10:35 “If 1487 he called 3004 them gods 2316, to whom 3739 the word 3056 of God 2316 came 1096 (and the Scripture 1124 cannot 1410 3756 be broken 3089),

10:36 do you say 3004 of Him, whom 3739 the Father 3962 sanctified 37 and sent 649 into the world 2889, ‘You are blaspheming 987,’ because 3754 I said 3004, ‘I am 1510 the Son 5207 of God 2316’?

10:37 “If 1487 I do not do 4160 the works 2041 of My Father 3962, do not believe 4100 Me;

10:38 but if 1487 I do 4160 them, though 2579 you do not believe 4100 Me, believe 4100 the works 2041, so 2443 that you may know 1097 and understand 1097 that the Father 3962 is in Me, and I in the Father 3962.”

10:39 Therefore 3767 they were seeking 2212 again 3825 to seize 4084 Him, and He eluded 1831 their grasp 5495.

10:40 ¶ And He went 565 away 565 again 3825 beyond 4008 the Jordan 2446 to the place 5117 where 3699 John 2491 was first 4413 baptizing 907, and He was staying 3306 there 1563.

10:41 Many 4183 came 2064 to Him and were saying 3004, “While 3303a John 2491 performed 4160 no 3762 sign 4592, yet 1161 everything 3956 John 2491 said 3004 about 4012 this 3778 man 3778 was true 227.”
