John 13

1 Jesus washeth the disciples' feet: 14 exhorteth them to humility and charity. 18 He foretelleth, and discovereth to John by a token, that Judas should betray him: 31 commandeth them to love one another: 36 and forewarneth Peter of his denial.

 13:1 Now 1161 before 4253 the Feast 1859 of the Passover 3957, Jesus 2424 knowing 3609a that His hour 5610 had come 2064 that He would depart 3327 out of this 3778 world 2889 to the Father 3962, having loved 25 His own 2398 who 3588 were in the world 2889, He loved 25 them to the end 5056.

 13:2 During 1096 supper 1173, the devil 1228 having already 2235 put 906 into the heart 2588 of Judas 2455 Iscariot 2469, [the son] of Simon 4613, to betray 3860 Him,

 13:3 [Jesus], knowing 3609a that the Father 3962 had given 1325 all 3956 things 3956 into His hands 5495, and that He had come 1831 forth 1831 from God 2316 and was going 5217 back 5217 to God 2316,

 13:4 *got 1453 up from supper 1173, and *laid 5087 aside 5087 His garments 2440; and taking 2983 a towel 3012, He girded 1241 Himself 1438.

 13:5 Then 1534 He *poured 906 water 5204 into the basin 3537, and began 757 to wash 3538 the disciples’ 3101 feet 4228 and to wipe 1591 them with the towel 3012 with which 3739 He was girded 1241.

 13:6 So 3767 He *came 2064 to Simon 4613 Peter 4074. He *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, do You wash 3538 my feet 4228?”

 13:7 Jesus 2424 answered 611 and said 3004 to him, “What 3739 I do 4160 you do not realize 3609a now 737, but you will understand 1097 hereafter 3326 3778.”

 13:8 Peter 4074 *said 3004 to Him, “Never 3756 3361 shall You wash 3538 my feet 4228!” Jesus 2424 answered 611 him, “If 1437 I do not wash 3538 you, you have 2192 no 3756 part 3313 with Me.”

 13:9 Simon 4613 Peter 4074 *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, [then wash] not only 3440 my feet 4228, but also 2532 my hands 5495 and my head 2776.”

 13:10 Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to him, “He who has bathed 3068 needs 5532 only 3756 1487 3361 to wash 3538 his feet 4228, but is completely 3650 clean 2513; and you are clean 2513, but not all 3956 [of you].”

 13:11 For He knew 3609a the one who was betraying 3860 Him; for this 3778 reason 1223 He said 3004, “Not all 3956 of you are clean 2513.”

 13:12 ¶ So 3767 when 3753 He had washed 3538 their feet 4228, and taken 2983 His garments 2440 and reclined 377 [at the table] again 3825, He said 3004 to them, “Do you know 1097 what 5101 I have done 4160 to you?

 13:13 “You call 5455 Me Teacher 1320 and Lord 2962; and you are right 2573, for [so] I am 1510.

 13:14 “If 1487 I then 3767, the Lord 2962 and the Teacher 1320, washed 3538 your feet 4228, you also 2532 ought 3784 to wash 3538 one 240 another’s 240 feet 4228.

 13:15 “For I gave 1325 you an example 5262 that you also 2532 should do 4160 as I did 4160 to you.

 13:16 “Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, a slave 1401 is not greater 3173 than his master 2962, nor 3761 [is] one 652 who is sent 652 greater 3173 than the one who sent 3992 him.

 13:17 “If 1487 you know 3609a these 3778 things 3778, you are blessed 3107 if 1437 you do 4160 them.

 13:18 “I do not speak 3004 of all 3956 of you. I know 3609a the ones 5100 I have chosen 1586; but [it is] that the Scripture 1124 may be fulfilled 4137, ‘HE WHO EATS 5176 MY BREAD 740 HAS LIFTED 1869 UP HIS HEEL 4418 AGAINST 1909 ME.’

 13:19 “From now 737 on I am telling 3004 you before 4253 [it] comes 1096 to pass 1096, so 2443 that when 3752 it does occur 1096, you may believe 4100 that I am 1510 [He].

 13:20 “Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, he who receives 2983 whomever 302 5100 I send 3992 receives 2983 Me; and he who receives 2983 Me receives 2983 Him who sent 3992 Me.”

 13:21 ¶ When Jesus 2424 had said 3004 this 3778, He became troubled 5015 in spirit 4151, and testified 3140 and said 3004, “Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, that one 1520 of you will betray 3860 Me.”

 13:22 The disciples 3101 [began] looking 991 at one 240 another 240, at a loss 639 [to know] of which 5101 one 5101 He was speaking 3004.

 13:23 There was reclining 345 on Jesus’ 2424 bosom 2859 one 1520 of His disciples 3101, whom 3739 Jesus 2424 loved 25.

 13:24 So 3767 Simon 4613 Peter 4074 *gestured 3506 to him, and *said 3004 to him, “Tell 3004 [us] who 5101 it is of whom 3739 He is speaking 3004.”

 13:25 He, leaning 377 back 377 thus 3779 on Jesus’ 2424 bosom 4738, *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, who 5101 is it?”

 13:26 Jesus 2424 then 3767 *answered 611, “That is the one for whom 3739 I shall dip 911 the morsel 5596 and give 1325 it to him.” So 3767 when He had dipped 911 the morsel 5596, He *took 2983 and *gave 1325 it to Judas 2455, [the son] of Simon 4613 Iscariot 2469.

 13:27 After 3326 the morsel 5596, Satan 4567 then 5119 entered 1525 into him. Therefore 3767 Jesus 2424 *said 3004 to him, “What 3739 you do 4160, do 4160 quickly 5036.”

 13:28 Now 1161 no 3762 one 3762 of those 3588 reclining 345 [at the table] knew 1097 for what 5101 purpose He had said 3004 this 3778 to him.

 13:29 For some 5100 were supposing 1380, because 1893 Judas 2455 had 2192 the money 1101 box 1101, that Jesus 2424 was saying 3004 to him, “Buy 59 the things we have 2192 need 5532 of for the feast 1859”; or 2228 else 2228, that he should give 1325 something 5100 to the poor 4434.

 13:30 So 3767 after receiving 2983 the morsel 5596 he went 1831 out immediately 2117; and it was night 3571.

 13:31 ¶ Therefore 3767 when 3753 he had gone 1831 out, Jesus 2424 *said 3004, “Now 3568 is the Son 5207 of Man 444 glorified 1392, and God 2316 is glorified 1392 in Him;

 13:32 if 1487 God 2316 is glorified 1392 in Him, God 2316 will also 2532 glorify 1392 Him in Himself 846, and will glorify 1392 Him immediately 2117.

 13:33 “Little 5040 children 5040, I am 1510 with you a little 3398 while 3398 longer 2089. You will seek 2212 Me; and as I said 3004 to the Jews 2453, now 737 I also 2532 say 3004 to you, ‘Where 3699 I am going 5217, you cannot 1410 3756 come 1831.’

 13:34 “A new 2537 commandment 1785 I give 1325 to you, that you love 25 one 240 another 240, even 2531a as I have loved 25 you, that you also 2532 love 25 one 240 another 240.

 13:35 “By this 3778 all 3956 men 3956 will know 1097 that you are My disciples 3101, if 1437 you have 2192 love 26 for one 240 another 240.”

 13:36 ¶ Simon 4613 Peter 4074 *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, where 4226 are You going 5217?” Jesus 2424 answered 611, “Where 3699 I go 5217, you cannot 1410 3756 follow 190 Me now 3568; but you will follow 190 later 5305.”

 13:37 Peter 4074 *said 3004 to Him, “Lord 2962, why 1223 5101 can 1410 I not follow 190 You right 737 now 737? I will lay 5087 down 5087 my life 5590 for You.”

 13:38 Jesus 2424 *answered 611, “Will you lay 5087 down 5087 your life 5590 for Me? Truly 281, truly 281, I say 3004 to you, a rooster 220 will not crow 5455 until 2193 you deny 720 Me three 5151 times 5151.
