Jonah 3
1 Jonah, sent again, preacheth to the Ninevites. 5 Upon their repentance, 10 God repenteth.
3:1
Now the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Jonah 3124 the second 8145 time 8145, saying 559,
3:2
“Arise 6965, go 1980 to Nineveh 5210 the great 1419 city 5892b and proclaim 7121 to it the proclamation 7150 which 834 I am going to tell 1696 you.”
3:3
So Jonah 3124 arose 6965 and went 1980 to Nineveh 5210 according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068. Now Nineveh 5210 was an exceedingly 430 great 1419 city 5892b, a three 7969 days’ 3117 walk 4109.
3:4
Then Jonah 3124 began 2490c to go 935 through the city 5892b one 259 day’s 3117 walk 4109; and he cried 7121 out and said 559, “Yet 5750 forty 705 days 3117 and Nineveh 5210 will be overthrown 2015.”
3:5
¶ Then the people 376 of Nineveh 5210 believed 539 in God 430; and they called 7121 a fast 6685 and put 3847 on sackcloth 8242 from the greatest 1419 to the least 6996a of them.
3:6
When the word 1697 reached 5060 the king 4428 of Nineveh 5210, he arose 6965 from his throne 3678, laid 5674a aside 5674a his robe 155 from him, covered 3680 [himself] with sackcloth 8242 and sat 3427 on the ashes 665.
3:7
He issued 2199 a proclamation 2199 and it said 559, “In Nineveh 5210 by the decree 2940 of the king 4428 and his nobles 1419: Do not let man 120, beast 929, herd 1241, or flock 6629 taste 2938 a thing 3972. Do not let them eat 7462a or drink 8354 water 4325.
3:8
“But both man 120 and beast 929 must be covered 3680 with sackcloth 8242; and let men call 7121 on God 430 earnestly 2394 that each 376 may turn 7725 from his wicked 7463a way 1870 and from the violence 2555 which 834 is in his hands 3709.
3:9
“Who 4310 knows 3045, God 430 may turn 7725 and relent 5162 and withdraw 7725 His burning 2740 anger 639 so that we will not perish 6.”
3:10
¶ When God 430 saw 7200 their deeds 4639, that they turned 7725 from their wicked 7463a way 1870, then God 430 relented 5162 concerning 5921 the calamity 7463a which 834 He had declared 1696 He would bring 6213a upon them. And He did not do 6213a [it].
