Matthew 11

2 John sendeth his disciples to Christ. 7 Christ's testimony concerning John. 16 The opinion of the people, both concerning John and Christ. 20 Christ upbraideth the unthankfulness and unrepentance of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum: 25 and praising his Father's wisdom in revealing the Gospel to the simple, 28 he calleth to him all such as feel the burden of their sins.

11:1 When 3753 Jesus 2424 had finished 5055 giving 1299 instructions 1299 to His twelve 1427 disciples 3101, He departed 3327 from there 1564 to teach 1321 and preach 2784 in their cities 4172.

11:2 ¶ Now 1161 when John 2491, while 1722 imprisoned 1201, heard 191 of the works 2041 of Christ 5547, he sent 3992 [word] by his disciples 3101

11:3 and said 3004 to Him, “Are You the Expected 2064 One, or 2228 shall we look 4328 for someone 2087 else 2087?”

11:4 Jesus 2424 answered 611 and said 3004 to them, “Go 4198 and report 518 to John 2491 what 3739 you hear 191 and see 991:

11:5 [the] BLIND 5185 RECEIVE 308 SIGHT 308 and [the] lame 5560 walk 4043, [the] lepers 3015 are cleansed 2511 and [the] deaf 2974 hear 191, [the] dead 3498 are raised 1453 up, and [the] POOR 4434 HAVE THE GOSPEL 2097 PREACHED 2097 TO THEM.

11:6 “And blessed 3107 is he who 3739 does not take 4624 offense 4624 at Me.”

11:7 ¶ As these 3778 men were going 4198 [away], Jesus 2424 began 757 to speak 3004 to the crowds 3793 about 4012 John 2491, “What 5101 did you go 1831 out into the wilderness 2048 to see 2300? A reed 2563 shaken 4531 by the wind 417?

11:8 “But what 5101 did you go 1831 out to see 3708? A man 444 dressed 294 in soft 3120 [clothing]? Those 3588 who wear 5409 soft 3120 [clothing] are in kings’ 935 palaces 3624!

11:9 “But what 5101 did you go 1831 out to see 3708? A prophet 4396? Yes 3483a, I tell 3004 you, and one who is more 4053 than a prophet 4396.

11:10 “This 3778 is the one about 4012 whom 3739 it is written 1125, ‘BEHOLD 2400, I SEND 649 MY MESSENGER 32a AHEAD OF YOU, WHO 3739 WILL PREPARE 2680 YOUR WAY 3598 BEFORE 1715 YOU.’

11:11 “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, among 1722 those born 1084 of women 1135 there has not arisen 1453 [anyone] greater 3173 than John 2491 the Baptist 910! Yet 1161 the one 3739 who is least 3398 in the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 is greater 3173 than he.

11:12 “From the days 2250 of John 2491 the Baptist 910 until 2193 now 737 the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772 suffers 971 violence 971, and violent 973 men 973 take 726 it by force 726.

11:13 “For all 3956 the prophets 4396 and the Law 3551 prophesied 4395 until 2193 John 2491.

11:14 “And if 1487 you are willing 2309 to accept 1209 [it], John himself 846 is Elijah 2243 who was to come 2064.

11:15 “He who has 2192 ears 3775 to hear 191, let him hear 191.

11:18 “For John 2491 came 2064 neither 3383 eating 2068 nor 3383 drinking 4095, and they say 3004, ‘He has 2192 a demon 1140!’

11:19 “The Son 5207 of Man 444 came 2064 eating 2068 and drinking 4095, and they say 3004, ‘Behold 2400, a gluttonous 5314 man 444 and a drunkard 3630, a friend 5384 of tax 5057 collectors 5057 and sinners 268!’ Yet 2532 wisdom 4678 is vindicated 1344 by her deeds 2041.”

11:20 ¶ Then 5119 He began 757 to denounce 3679 the cities 4172 in which 3739 most 4183 of His miracles 1411 were done 1096, because 3754 they did not repent 3340.

11:21 “Woe 3759 to you, Chorazin 5523! Woe 3759 to you, Bethsaida 966! For if 1487 the miracles 1411 had occurred 1096 in Tyre 5184 and Sidon 4605 which occurred 1096 in you, they would have repented 3340 long 3819 ago 3819 in sackcloth 4526 and ashes 4700.

11:22 “Nevertheless 4133 I say 3004 to you, it will be more 414 tolerable 414 for Tyre 5184 and Sidon 4605 in [the] day 2250 of judgment 2920 than 2228 for you.

11:23 “And you, Capernaum 2746b, will not be exalted 5312 to heaven 3772, will you? You will descend 2597 to Hades 86; for if 1487 the miracles 1411 had occurred 1096 in Sodom 4670 which occurred 1096 in you, it would have remained 3306 to this 4594 day 4594.

11:24 “Nevertheless 4133 I say 3004 to you that it will be more 414 tolerable 414 for the land 1093 of Sodom 4670 in [the] day 2250 of judgment 2920, than 2228 for you.”

11:25 ¶ At that time 2540 Jesus 2424 said 3004, “I praise 1843 You, Father 3962, Lord 2962 of heaven 3772 and earth 1093, that You have hidden 2928 these 3778 things 3778 from [the] wise 4680 and intelligent 4908 and have revealed 601 them to infants 3516.

11:26 “Yes 3483a, Father 3962, for this 3779 way 3779 was well-pleasing 2107 in Your sight 1715.

11:29 “Take 142 My yoke 2218 upon you and learn 3129 from Me, for I am 1510 gentle 4239b and humble 5011 in heart 2588, and YOU WILL FIND 2147 REST 372 FOR YOUR SOULS 5590.
