Matthew 16
1 The Pharisees require a sign. 6 Jesus warneth his disciples of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 13 The people's opinion of Christ, 16 and Peter's confession of him. 21 Jesus foresheweth his death, 23 reproving Peter for dissuading him from it: 24 and admonisheth those that will follow him, to bear the cross.
16:1
The Pharisees 5330 and Sadducees 4523 came 4334 up, and testing 3985 Jesus, they asked 1905 Him to show 1925 them a sign 4592 from heaven 3772.
16:2
But He replied 611 to them, “When it is evening 3798, you say 3004, ‘[It will be] fair 2105 weather 2105, for the sky 3772 is red 4449.’
16:3
“And in the morning 4404, ‘[There will be] a storm 5494 today 4594, for the sky 3772 is red 4449 and threatening 4768.’ Do you know 1097 how 1097 to discern 1252 the appearance 4383 of the sky 3772, but cannot 1410 3756 [discern] the signs 4592 of the times 2540?
16:4
“An evil 4190 and adulterous 3428 generation 1074 seeks 1934 after 1934 a sign 4592; and a sign 4592 will not be given 1325 it, except 1508 the sign 4592 of Jonah 2495.” And He left 2641 them and went 565 away 565.
16:5
¶ And the disciples 3101 came 2064 to the other 4008 side 4008 [of the sea], but they had forgotten 1950 to bring 2983 [any] bread 740.
16:6
And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to them, “Watch 3708 out and beware 4337 of the leaven 2219 of the Pharisees 5330 and Sadducees 4523.”
16:7
They began to discuss 1260 [this] among 1722 themselves 1438, saying 3004, “[He said that] because 3754 we did not bring 2983 [any] bread 740.”
16:8
But Jesus 2424, aware 1097 of this, said 3004, “You men 3640b of little 3640b faith 3640b, why 5101 do you discuss 1260 among 1722 yourselves 1438 that you have 2192 no 3756 bread 740?
16:9
“Do you not yet 3768 understand 3539 or 3761 remember 3421 the five 4002 loaves 740 of the five 4000 thousand 4000, and how 4214 many 4214 baskets 2894 [full] you picked 2983 up?
16:10
“Or 3761 the seven 2033 loaves 740 of the four 5070 thousand 5070, and how 4214 many 4214 large 4711 baskets 4711 [full] you picked 2983 up?
16:11
“How 4459 is it that you do not understand 3539 that I did not speak 3004 to you concerning 4012 bread 740? But beware 4337 of the leaven 2219 of the Pharisees 5330 and Sadducees 4523.”

Then 5119 they understood 4920 that He did not say 3004 to beware 4337 of the leaven 2219 of bread 740, but of the teaching 1322 of the Pharisees 5330 and Sadducees 4523.
16:13
¶ Now 1161 when Jesus 2424 came 2064 into the district 3313 of Caesarea 2542 Philippi 5376, He was asking 2065 His disciples 3101, “Who 5101 do people 444 say 3004 that the Son 5207 of Man 444 is?”
16:14
And they said 3004, “Some 3588 3303a [say] John 2491 the Baptist 910; and others 243, Elijah 2243; but still others 2087, Jeremiah 2408, or 2228 one 1520 of the prophets 4396.”
16:15
He *said 3004 to them, “But who 5101 do you say 3004 that I am 1510?”
16:16
Simon 4613 Peter 4074 answered 611, “You are the Christ 5547, the Son 5207 of the living 2198 God 2316.”
16:17
And Jesus 2424 said 3004 to him, “Blessed 3107 are you, Simon 4613 Barjona 920, because 3754 flesh 4561 and blood 129 did not reveal 601 [this] to you, but My Father 3962 who 3588 is in heaven 3772.
16:18
“I also 2532 say 3004 to you that you are Peter 4074, and upon this 3778 rock 4073 I will build 3618 My church 1577; and the gates 4439 of Hades 86 will not overpower 2729 it.
16:19
“I will give 1325 you the keys 2807 of the kingdom 932 of heaven 3772; and whatever 3739 1437 you bind 1210 on earth 1093 shall have been bound 1210 in heaven 3772, and whatever 3739 1437 you loose 3089 on earth 1093 shall have been loosed 3089 in heaven 3772.”
16:20
Then 5119 He warned 2008 the disciples 3101 that they should tell 3004 no 3367 one 3367 that He was the Christ 5547.
16:21
¶ From that time 5119 Jesus 2424 began 757 to show 1166 His disciples 3101 that He must 1163 go 565 to Jerusalem 2414, and suffer 3958 many 4183 things 4183 from the elders 4245 and chief 749 priests 749 and scribes 1122, and be killed 615, and be raised 1453 up on the third 5154 day 2250.
16:22
Peter 4074 took 4355 Him aside 4355 and began 757 to rebuke 2008 Him, saying 3004, “God 2436 forbid 2436 [it], Lord 2962! This 3778 shall never 3756 3361 happen 1510 to You.”
16:23
But He turned 4762 and said 3004 to Peter 4074, “Get 5217 behind 3694 Me, Satan 4567! You are a stumbling 4625 block 4625 to Me; for you are not setting 5426 your mind 5426 on God’s 2316 interests, but man’s 444.”
16:24
¶ Then 5119 Jesus 2424 said 3004 to His disciples 3101, “If 1487 anyone 5100 wishes 2309 to come 2064 after 3694 Me, he must deny 533 himself 1438, and take 142 up his cross 4716 and follow 190 Me.
16:25
“For whoever 3739 1437 wishes 2309 to save 4982 his life 5590 will lose 622 it; but whoever 3739 302 loses 622 his life 5590 for My sake 1752a will find 2147 it.
16:26
“For what 5101 will it profit 5623 a man 444 if 1437 he gains 2770 the whole 3650 world 2889 and forfeits 2210 his soul 5590? Or 2228 what 5101 will a man 444 give 1325 in exchange 465 for his soul 5590?
16:27
“For the Son 5207 of Man 444 is going 3195 to come 2064 in the glory 1391 of His Father 3962 with His angels 32a, and WILL THEN 5119 REPAY 591 EVERY 1538 MAN 1538 ACCORDING 2596 TO HIS DEEDS 4234.
16:28
¶ “Truly 281 I say 3004 to you, there are some 5100 of those 3588 who are standing 2476 here 5602 who 3748 will not taste 1089 death 2288 until 2193 they see 3708 the Son 5207 of Man 444 coming 2064 in His kingdom 932.”
