 20:1 ¶ Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

 20:1 ¶ Then answeredºº Zopharº the Naamathite,º and said,ºº

 20:2 Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, Even by reason of my haste that is in me.

 20:2 Thereforeº do my thoughtsº cause me to answer,ºº and forº [this] I make haste.ºº

 20:3 I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame; And the spirit of my understanding answereth me.

 20:3 I have heardºº the checkº of my reproach,º and the spiritº of my understandingºº causeth me to answer.ºº

 20:4 Knowest thou [not] this of old time, Since man was placed upon earth,

 20:4 Knowestºº thou [not] thisº ofº old,º sinceº manº was placedºº uponº earth,º

 20:5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless but for a moment?

 20:5 Thatº the triumphingº of the wickedº [is] short,ºº and the joyº of the hypocriteº [but] forº a moment?º

 20:6 Though his height mount up to the heavens, And his head reach unto the clouds;

 20:6 Thoughº his excellencyº mount upºº to the heavens,º and his headº reachºº unto the clouds;º

 20:7 Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: They that have seen him shall say, Where is he?

 20:7 [Yet] he shall perishºº for everº like his own dung:º they which have seenºº him shall say,ºº Whereº [is] he?

 20:8 He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

 20:8 He shall fly awayºº as a dream,º and shall notº be found:ºº yea, he shall be chased awayºº as a visionº of the night.º

 20:9 The eye which saw him shall see him no more; Neither shall his place any more behold him.

 20:9 The eyeº also [which] sawºº him shall [see him] noº more;ºº neitherº shall his placeº any moreº beholdºº him.

 20:10 His children shall seek the favor of the poor, And his hands shall give back his wealth.

 20:10 His childrenº shall seek to pleaseºº the poor,º and his handsº shall restoreºº their goods.º

 20:11 His bones are full of his youth, But it shall lie down with him in the dust.

 20:11 His bonesº are fullºº [of the sin] of his youth,º which shall lie downºº withº him inº the dust.º

 20:12 Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, Though he hide it under his tongue,

 20:12 Thoughº wickednessº be sweetºº in his mouth,º [though] he hideºº it underº his tongue;º

 20:13 Though he spare it, and will not let it go, But keep it still within his mouth;

 20:13 [Though] he spareººº it, and forsakeºº it not;º but keep it stillºº withinº his mouth:º

 20:14 Yet his food in his bowels is turned, It is the gall of asps within him.

 20:14 [Yet] his meatº in his bowelsº is turned,ºº [it is] the gallº of aspsº withinº him.

 20:15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his belly.

 20:15 He hath swallowed downºº riches,º and he shall vomit them up again:ºº Godº shall cast them outºº ofº his belly.º

 20:16 He shall suck the poison of asps: The viper's tongue shall slay him.

 20:16 He shall suckºº the poisonº of asps:º the viper'sº tongueº shall slayºº him.

 20:17 He shall not look upon the rivers, The flowing streams of honey and butter.

 20:17 He shall notº seeºº the rivers,º the floods,º the brooksº of honeyº and butter.º

 20:18 That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down; According to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.

 20:18 That which he labouredº forº shall he restore,ºº and shall notº swallow [it] down:ºº according to [his] substanceº [shall] the restitutionº [be], and he shall notº rejoiceºº [therein].

 20:19 For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; He hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.

 20:19 Becauseº he hath oppressedºº [and] hath forsakenºº the poor;º [because] he hath violently taken awayºº an houseº which he buildedºº not;º

 20:20 Because he knew no quietness within him, He shall not save aught of that wherein he delighteth.

 20:20 Surelyº he shall notº feelºº quietnessº in his belly,º he shall notº saveºº of that which he desired.ºº

 20:21 There was nothing left that he devoured not; Therefore his prosperity shall not endure.

 20:21 There shall noneº of his meatº be left;º thereforeºº shall noº man lookºº for his goods.º

 20:22 In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: The hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.

 20:22 In the fulnessºººº of his sufficiencyº he shall be in straits:ºº everyº handº of the wickedº shall comeºº upon him.

 20:23 When he is about to fill his belly, [God] will cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, And will rain it upon him while he is eating.

 20:23 [When] heº is about to fillºº his belly,º [God] shall castºº the furyº of his wrathº upon him, and shall rainºº [it] uponº him while he is eating.º

 20:24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, And the bow of brass shall strike him through.

 20:24 He shall fleeºº from the ironº weapon,ºº [and] the bowº of steelº shall strike him through.ºº

 20:25 He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; Yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall: Terrors are upon him.

 20:25 It is drawn,ºº and cometh outºº of the body;ºº yea, the glittering swordº comethº outºº of his gall:ºº terrorsº [are] uponº him.

 20:26 All darkness is laid up for his treasures: A fire not blown [by man] shall devour him; It shall consume that which is left in his tent.

 20:26 Allº darknessº [shall be] hidºº in his secret places:ºº a fireº notº blownºº shall consumeºº him; it shall go illººº with him that is leftº in his tabernacle.º

 20:27 The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, And the earth shall rise up against him.

 20:27 The heavenº shall revealºº his iniquity;º and the earthº shall rise upºº against him.

 20:28 The increase of his house shall depart; [His goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

 20:28 The increaseº of his houseº shall depart,ºº [and his goods] shall flow awayºº in the dayº of his wrath.º

 20:29 This is the portion of a wicked man from God, And the heritage appointed unto him by God.

 20:29 Thisº [is] the portionº of a wickedº manº from God,ºº and the heritageº appointedº unto him by God.ºº
