 2:1 But I wish you to know what an agony I have for you and for those who are in Laodikia, and for the rest who have not seen my person in the flesh;

 2:1 And I wish you to know, what a struggle I have for you, and for them of Laodicea, and for the others who have not seen my face in the flesh;

 2:2 that their hearts may be comforted, and that they may approach in love to all the riches of assurance, and to the understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of Aloha the Father and of the Meshiha,

 2:2 that their hearts may be comforted, and that they, by love, may come to all the riches of assurance, and to the understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God the Father, and of the Messiah,

 2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge.

 2:4 But this I say, Let no man deceive you with the persuasion of words.

 2:4 And this I say, lest any one should mislead you by the persuasiveness of words.

 2:5 For though in the flesh I am far from you, yet in the spirit I am with you; and I rejoice to behold your order, and the firmness of your faith in the Meshiha.

 2:5 For though I am separated from you in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit; and I rejoice at beholding your good order, and the stability of your faith in the Messiah.

 2:6 As, then, you have received Jeshu Meshiha our Lord, (so) in him walk,

 2:6 As therefore ye have received Jesus the Messiah our Lord, walk ye in him,

 2:7 your roots strengthened, and you builded in him, and established in that faith which you have learned, that you may abound therein with thanksgiving.

 2:8 Beware lest any man strip you by philosophy and by vain deceit, according to the teaching of men, and according to the principles of the world, and not according to the Meshiha,

 2:8 Beware, lest any man make you naked by philosophy, and by vain deception, according to the doctrines of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to the Messiah,

 2:9 in whom dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

 2:9 in whom dwelleth all the fullness of the Divinity corporeally.

 2:10 And in him also you are complete; for he is the head of all principalities and powers.

 2:10 And in him ye are also complete, because he is the head of all principalities and authorities.

 2:11 And in him you have been circumcised with the circumcision which is not with hands, by the putting away of the flesh of sins, (even) by the circumcision of the Meshiha.

 2:11 And in him ye have been circumcised with a circumcision without hands, by casting off the flesh of sins, by a circumcision of the Messiah.

 2:12 And you have been buried with him by baptism, and in him have risen with him, who have believed in the power of Aloha who raised him from among the dead.

 2:12 And ye have been buried with him, by baptism; and by it ye have risen with him; while ye believed in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

 2:13 And you who were dead in your sins, and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he hath made alive with him, and forgiven us all our sins;

 2:13 And you, who were dead in your sins, and by the uncircumcision of your flesh, he hath vivified with him; and he hath forgiven us all our sins:

 2:14 and hath blotted out in his mandates the writing of our debts that was against us, and hath taken it from the midst, and affixed it to his cross;

 2:14 and, by his mandates, he blotted out the handwriting of our debts, which [handwriting] existed against us, and took [it] from the midst, and affixed [it] to his cross.

 2:15 and by the yielding up of his body he hath prostrated principalities and powers, and hath shamed them openly by himself.

 2:15 And, by yielding up his body, he showed contempt for principalities and authorities; and put them to shame, openly, in his own person.

 2:16 ¶ LET no man therefore judge you in meat and in drink, or in the distinctions of festivals, and of new moons, and of shabeths,

 2:16 Let no one therefore disquiet you about food and drink, or about the distinctions of festivals, and new moons, and sabbaths;

 2:17 which are shadows of those to come, but the body is the Meshiha.

 2:17 which were shadows of the things then future; but the body is the Messiah.

 2:18 And lest any man wish by abasement of mind to fetter you to be subject to the worship of angels, intruding upon that which he hath not seen, and vainly inflated in his fleshly mind;

 2:18 And let no one wish, by abasing the mind, to bring you under bonds, that ye subject yourselves to the worship of angels; while he is prying into that which he hath not seen, and is vainly inflated in his fleshly mind,

 2:19 and not holding the Head, from whom all the body is composed and constituted in joints and limbs, and increaseth (with) the increase of Aloha.

 2:19 and holdeth not the head, from which the whole body is framed and constructed, with joints and members, and groweth with the growth [given] of God.

 2:20 For if you are dead with the Meshiha from the principles of the world, why as if you lived in the world are you judged?

 2:20 For if ye are dead with the Messiah from the rudiments of the world, why are ye judged as if ye were living in the world?

 2:21 as that you are not to touch, nor to taste, nor to handle?

 2:21 But, touch thou not, and taste thou not, and handle thou not:

 2:22 For these are of perishable use, and are ordinances and doctrines of men;

 2:22 for these things perish in the using; and they are the commandments and doctrines of men.

 2:23 and appear to have in them a reason of wisdom, with the look of humility and the fear of Aloha, (as) not sparing the body, (yet) not in that which is (really) of value, but in those (things) whose use pertains to the flesh.

 2:23 And they seem to have a kind of wisdom, in a show of humility, and of the fear of God, and of not sparing the body; not in any thing of excellence, but in things subservient to the body.
