Brenton's Septuagint (LXX) - Holy Name KJV
LXX < < Amos{gr.Amos} 4 > > KJV
1 He reproveth Israel for oppression, 4 for idolatry, 6 and for their incorrigibleness.
 4:1 ¶
Hear ye this word, ye heifers of the land of Bashan{gr.Basan} that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, and trample on the needy, which say to their masters, Give us that we may drink. |
|
 4:1 ¶
Hearºº
thisº
word,º
ye kineº
of Bashan,º
thatº
[are] in the mountainº
of Samaria,º
which oppressºº
the poor,º
which crushºº
the needy,º
which sayºº
to their adonim,º
Bring,ºº
and let us drink.ºº |
 4:2
The Lord swears by his holiness, that, behold, the days come upon you, when they shall take you with weapons, and fiery destroyers shall cast those with you into boiling caldrons. |
|
 4:2
Adonaiº
Yahwehº
hath swornºº
by his holiness,º
that,º
lo,º
the daysº
shall comeºº
uponº
you, that he will take you awayººº
with hooks,º
and your posterityº
with fishhooks.ºº |
 4:3
And ye shall be brought forth naked in the presence of each other; and ye shall be cast forth on the mountain Romman, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:3
And ye shall go outºº
at the breaches,º
everyº
[cow at that which is] beforeº
her; and ye shall castºº
[them] into the palace,º
saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:4 ¶
Ye went into Bethel, and sinned, and ye multiplied sin at Gilgal{gr.Galgala}; and ye brought your meat-offerings in the morning, [and] your tithes every third day. |
|
 4:4 ¶
Comeºº
to Bethel,º
and transgress;ºº
at Gilgalº
multiplyºº
transgression;ºº
and bringºº
your sacrificesº
every morning,º
[and] your tithesº
after threeº
years:º |
 4:5
And they read the law without, and called for public professions: proclaim aloud that the children of Israel have loved these things, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:5
And offerºº
a sacrificeº
of thanksgivingº
withº
leaven,º
and proclaimºº
[and] publishºº
the free offerings:º
forº
thisº
likethºº
you, O ye childrenº
of Israel,º
saithºº
Adonaiº
Yahweh.º |
 4:6 ¶
And I will give you dulness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet ye returned not to me, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:6 ¶
And Iº
alsoº
have givenºº
you cleannessº
of teethº
in allº
your cities,º
and wantº
of breadº
in allº
your places:º
yet have ye notº
returnedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:7
Also I withheld from you the rain three months before the harvest: and I will rain upon one city, and on another city I will not rain: one part shall be rained upon, and the part on which I shall not rain shall be dried up. |
|
 4:7
And alsoº
Iº
have withholdenººº
the rainº
fromº
you, when [there were] yetº
threeº
monthsº
to the harvest:º
and I caused it to rainºº
uponº
oneº
city,º
and caused it not to rainººº
uponº
anotherº
city:º
oneº
pieceº
was rainedºº
upon,º
and the pieceº
whereuponºº
it rainedºº
notº
withered.ºº |
 4:8
And [the inhabitants of] two or three cities shall be gathered to one city to drink water, and they shall not be satisfied: yet ye have not returned to me, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:8
So twoº
[or] threeº
citiesº
wanderedºº
untoº
oneº
city,º
to drinkºº
water;º
but they were notº
satisfied:ºº
yet have ye notº
returnedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:9
I smote you with parching, and with blight: ye multiplied your gardens, your vineyards, and your fig-grounds, and the cankerworm devoured your olive-yards: yet not [even] thus did ye return to me, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:9
I have smittenºº
you with blastingº
and mildew:º
when your gardensº
and your vineyardsº
and your fig treesº
and your olive treesº
increased,ºº
the palmerwormº
devouredºº
[them]: yet have ye notº
returnedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:10
I sent pestilence among you by the way of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and slew your young men with the sword, together with thy horses that were taken captive; and in my wrath against you I set fire to your camps: yet not even thus did ye return to me, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:10
I have sentºº
among you the pestilenceº
after the mannerº
of Egypt:º
your young menº
have I slainºº
with the sword,º
and have taken awayºº
your horses;º
and I have made the stinkº
of your campsº
to come upºº
unto your nostrils:º
yet have ye notº
returnedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:11
I overthrew you, as God overthrew Sodoma and Gomorrah{gr.Gomorrha}, and ye became as a brand plucked out of the fire: yet not even thus did ye return to me, saith the Lord. |
|
 4:11
I have overthrownºº
[some] of you, as Elohimº
overthrewºº
Sodomº
and Gomorrah,º
and ye wereº
as a firebrandº
pluckedº
outºº
of the burning:ºº
yet have ye notº
returnedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 4:12
Therefore thus will I do to thee, O Israel: nay because I will do thus to thee, prepare to call on thy God, O Israel. |
|
 4:12
Thereforeº
thusº
will I doºº
unto thee, O Israel:º
[and] becauseºº
I will doºº
thisº
unto thee, prepareºº
to meetºº
thy Elohim,º
O Israel.º |
 4:13
For, behold, I am he that strengthens the thunder, and creates the wind, and proclaims to men his Anointed{gr.Christ}, forming the morning and the darkness, and mounting on the high places of the earth, The Lord God Almighty is his name. |
|
 4:13
For,º
lo,º
he that formethºº
the mountains,º
and createthºº
the wind,º
and declarethºº
unto manº
whatº
[is] his thought,º
that makethºº
the morningº
darkness,º
and treadethºº
uponº
the high placesº
of the earth,º
Yahweh,º
The Elohimº
Sabaoth,º
[is] his name.º |
