  6:1 ¶
Woe to them that set at nought Zion{gr.Sion}, and that trust in the mountain of Samaria: they have gathered [the harvest of] the heads of the nations, and they have gone in themselves. |

in Zion,º

in the mountainº
of Samaria,º
[which are] namedºº
chiefº
of the nations,º
to whom the houseº
of Israelº
came!ºº |

O house of Israel, pass by all [of you], and see; and pass by thence to Ematrabba; and thence descend to Gath{gr.Geth} of the Philistines, the chief of all these kingdoms, [see] if their coasts are greater than your coasts. |

ye unto Calneh,º
and see;ºº
and from thenceºº
goººº
ye to Hamathº
the great:ººº
then go downºº
to Gathº
of the Philistines:º
[be they] betterº
thanº
theseº
kingdoms?º
orº
their borderº
greaterº
than your border?ºº |

Ye who are approaching the evil day, who are drawing near and adopting false sabbaths; |

Ye that put far awayºº
the evilº
day,º
and cause the seatºº
of violenceº
to come near;ºº |

6:4
who sleep upon beds of ivory, and live delicately on their couches, and eat kids out of the flocks, and sucking calves out of the midst of the stalls; |

That lieºº
uponº
bedsº
of ivory,º
and stretchºº
themselves uponº
their couches,º
and eatºº
the lambsº
out of the flock,ºº
and the calvesº
out of the midstºº
of the stall;º |

who excel in the sound of musical instruments; they have regarded them as abiding, not as fleeting [pleasures]; |

That chantºº
toº
the soundº
of the viol,º
[and] inventºº
to themselves instrumentsº
of musick,º
like David;º |

6:6
who drink strained wine, and anoint themselves with the best ointment; and have suffered nothing on occasion of the calamity of Joseph. |

That drinkºº
wineº
in bowls,º
and anointºº
themselves with the chiefº
ointments:º
but they are notº
grievedºº
forº
the afflictionº
of Joseph.º |

6:7 ¶
Therefore now shall they depart into captivity from the dominion of princes, and the neighing of horses shall be cut off from Ephraim. |

6:7 ¶
Thereforeº
nowº
shall they go captiveºº
with the firstº
that go captive,ºº
and the banquetº
of them that stretchedºº
themselves shall be removed.ºº |

For the Lord has sworn by himself, [saying], Because I abhor all the pride of Jacob, I do also hate his countries, and I will cut off [his] city with all who inhabit it. |

Yahwehº
hath swornºº
by himself,º
saithºº
Yahwehº
the Elohimº
Sabaoth,º
Iº
abhorººº
the excellencyº
of Jacob,º
and hateºº
his palaces:º
therefore will I deliver upºº
the cityº
with all that is therein.º |

And it shall come to pass, if there be ten men left in one house, that they shall die. |

there remainºº
tenº
menºº
in oneº
house,º
that they shall die.ºº |

But a remnant shall be left behind, and their relations shall take them, and shall strenuously endeavor to carry forth their bones from the house: and one shall say to the heads of the house, Is there yet [any one] else with thee? And he shall say, No [one] else. And [the other] shall say, Be silent, that thou name not the name of the Lord. |

And a man's uncleº
shall take him up,ºº
and he that burnethºº
him, to bring outºº
the bonesº
out ofº
the house,º
and shall sayºº
unto him thatº
[is] by the sidesº
of the house,º
[Is there] yetº
[any] withº
thee? and he shall say,ºº
No.º
Then shall he say,ºº
Hold thy tongue:ºº
forº
we may notº
make mentionºº
of the nameº
of Yahweh.º |

For, behold, the Lord commands, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with rents. |

commandeth,ºº
and he will smiteºº
the greatº
houseº
with breaches,º
and the littleº
houseº
with clefts.º |

6:12 ¶
Will horses run upon rocks? will they refrain from neighing at mares? for ye have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness: |

Shall horsesº
runºº
upon the rock?º
will [one] plowºº
[there] with oxen?º
forº
ye have turnedºº
judgmentº
into gall,º
and the fruitº
of righteousnessº
into hemlock:º |

ye who rejoice at vanity, who say, Have we not possessed horns by our own strength? |

Ye which rejoiceºº
in a thingº
of nought,ºº
which say,ºº
Have we notº
takenºº
to us hornsº
by our own strength?º |

6:14
For behold, O house of Israel, I will raise up against you a nation, saith the Lord of hosts; and they shall afflict you so that ye shall not enter into Hamath{gr.Aemath}, and as it were [from] the river of the wilderness. |

But,º
behold,º
I will raise upºº
againstº
you a nation,º
O houseº
of Israel,º
saithºº
Yahwehº
the Elohimº
Sabaoth;º
and they shall afflictºº
you from the entering inººº
of Hemathº
untoº
the riverº
of the wilderness.º |
