 9:1 ¶ And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Jehovah, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

 9:1 ¶ And it came to pass,º when Solomonº had finishedºº the buildingºº ofº the houseº of the LORD,º and the king'sº house,º and allº Solomon'sº desireº whichº he was pleasedºº to do,ºº

 9:2 that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

 9:2 That the LORDº appearedºº toº Solomonº the second time,º asº he had appearedºº untoº him at Gibeon.º

 9:3 And Jehovah said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

 9:3 And the LORDº saidºº untoº him, I have heardººº thy prayerº and thy supplication,º thatº thou hast madeººº beforeº me: I have hallowedººº thisº house,º whichº thou hast built,ºº to putºº my nameº thereº forº ever;ºº and mine eyesº and mine heartº shall beº thereº perpetually.ºº

 9:4 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

 9:4 And ifº thouº wilt walkººº beforeº me, asº Davidº thy fatherº walked,ºº in integrityº of heart,º and in uprightness,º to doºº according to allº thatº I have commandedºº thee, [and] wilt keepºº my statutesº and my judgments:º

 9:5 then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, according as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

 9:5 Then I will establishººº the throneº of thy kingdomº uponº Israelº for ever,º asº I promisedºº toº Davidº thy father,º saying,ºº There shall notº failºº thee a manº uponºº the throneº of Israel.º

 9:6 But if ye shall turn away from following me, ye or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

 9:6 [But] ifº ye shall at allºº turnºº from followingºº me, yeº or your children,º and will notº keepºº my commandmentsº [and] my statutesº whichº I have setºº beforeº you, but goºº and serveºº otherº gods,º and worshipºº them:

 9:7 then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

 9:7 Then will I cut offººº Israelº outº ofººº the landº whichº I have givenºº them; and this house,º whichº I have hallowedºº for my name,º will I castº outºº ofºº my sight;º and Israelº shall beº a proverbº and a bywordº among allº people:º

 9:8 And though this house is so high, yet shall every one that passeth by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house?

 9:8 And at thisº house,º [which] isº high,º every oneº that passethºº byº it shall be astonished,ºº and shall hiss;ºº and they shall say,ºº Whyº hath the LORDº doneºº thusº unto thisº land,º and to thisº house?º

 9:9 and they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath Jehovah brought all this evil upon them.

 9:9 And they shall answer,ºº Becauseºº they forsookººº the LORDº their God,º whoº brought forthººº their fathersº out of the landºº of Egypt,º and have taken holdºº upon otherº gods,º and have worshippedºº them, and servedºº them: thereforeºº hath the LORDº broughtºº uponº themº allº thisº evil.º

 9:10 ¶ And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Jehovah and the king's house

 9:10 ¶ And it came to passº at the endºº of twentyº years,º whenº Solomonº had builtººº the twoº houses,ºº the houseº of the LORD,º and the king'sº house,º

 9:11 (now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar-trees and fir-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

 9:11 ([Now] Hiramº the kingº of Tyreº had furnishedººº Solomonº with cedarº treesº and firº trees,º and with gold,º according to allº his desire,)º that thenº kingº Solomonº gaveºº Hiramº twentyº citiesº in the landº of Galilee.º

 9:12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

 9:12 And Hiramº came outºº from Tyreºº to seeººº the citiesº whichº Solomonº had givenºº him; and they pleasedººº him not.º

 9:13 And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

 9:13 And he said,ºº Whatº citiesº [are] theseº whichº thou hast givenºº me, my brother?º And he calledºº them the landº of Cabulº untoº thisº day.º

 9:14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

 9:14 And Hiramº sentºº to the kingº sixscoreºº talentsº of gold.º

 9:15 ¶ And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of Jehovah, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

 9:15 ¶ And thisº [is] the reasonº of the levyº whichº kingº Solomonº raised;ºº for to buildººº the houseº of the LORD,º and his own house,º and Millo,º and the wallº of Jerusalem,º and Hazor,º and Megiddo,º and Gezer.º

 9:16 Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a portion unto his daughter, Solomon's wife.

 9:16 [For] Pharaohº kingº of Egyptº had gone up,ºº and takenººº Gezer,º and burntºº it with fire,º and slainºº the Canaanitesº that dweltºº in the city,º and givenºº it [for] a presentº unto his daughter,º Solomon'sº wife.º

 9:17 And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether,

 9:17 And Solomonº builtººº Gezer,º and Bethhoronº the nether,º

 9:18 and Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land,

 9:18 And Baalath,º and Tadmorº in the wilderness,º in the land,º

 9:19 and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

 9:19 And allº the citiesº of storeº thatº Solomonº had,º and citiesº for his chariots,º and citiesº for his horsemen,º and thatº whichº Solomonº desiredºº to buildºº in Jerusalem,º and in Lebanon,º and in allº the landº of his dominion.º

 9:20 As for all the people that were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel;

 9:20 [And] allº the peopleº [that were] leftºº ofº the Amorites,º Hittites,º Perizzites,º Hivites,º and Jebusites,º whichº [were] notº of the childrenºº of Israel,º

 9:21 their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them did Solomon raise a levy of bondservants unto this day.

 9:21 Their childrenº thatº were leftºº afterº them in the land,º whomº the childrenº of Israelº also were notº ableºº utterly to destroy,ºº upon those did Solomonº levyºº a tributeº of bondserviceººº untoº thisº day.º

 9:22 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

 9:22 But of the childrenºº of Israelº did Solomonº makeºº noº bondmen:º butº theyº [were] menºº of war,º and his servants,º and his princes,º and his captains,º and rulersº of his chariots,º and his horsemen.º

 9:23 These were the chief officers that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, who bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

 9:23 Theseº [were] the chiefº of the officersºº thatº [were] overº Solomon'sº work,º fiveº hundredº and fifty,º which bare ruleºº over the peopleº that wroughtºº in the work.º

 9:24 ¶ But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which [Solomon] had built for her: then did he build Millo.

 9:24 ¶ Butº Pharaoh'sº daughterº came upºº out of the cityºº of Davidº untoº her houseº whichº [Solomon] had builtºº for her: thenº did he buildººº Millo.º

 9:25 ¶ And three times a year did Solomon offer burnt-offerings and peace-offerings upon the altar which he built unto Jehovah, burning incense therewith, [upon the altar] that was before Jehovah. So he finished the house.

 9:25 ¶ And threeº timesº in a yearº did Solomonº offerºº burnt offeringsº and peace offeringsº uponº the altarº whichº he builtºº unto the LORD,º and he burnt incenseºº uponº the altarº thatº [was] beforeº the LORD.º So he finishedººº the house.º

 9:26 ¶ And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

 9:26 ¶ And kingº Solomonº madeºº a navy of shipsº in Eziongeber,º whichº [is] besideº Eloth,º onº the shoreº of the Redº sea,º in the landº of Edom.º

 9:27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

 9:27 And Hiramº sentºº in the navyºº his servants,º shipmenººº that had knowledgeºº of the sea,º withº the servantsº of Solomon.º

 9:28 And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

 9:28 And they cameºº to Ophir,º and fetchedºº from thenceºº gold,º fourº hundredº and twentyº talents,º and broughtºº [it] toº kingº Solomon.º
