 21:1 ¶ And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,

 21:1 ¶ Andº whenº they drew nighºº untoº Jerusalem,º andº were comeºº toº Bethphage,º untoº theº mountº of Olives,º thenº sentºº Jesusº twoº disciples,º

 21:2 saying unto them, Go into the village that is over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose [them], and bring [them] unto me.

 21:2 Sayingºº unto them,º Goºº intoº theº villageº over againstº you,º andº straightwayº ye shall findºº an assº tied,ºº andº a coltº withº her:º looseºº [them], and bringºº [them] unto me.º

 21:3 And if any one say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

 21:3 Andº ifº anyº [man]º sayºº oughtº unto you,º ye shall say,ººº Theº Lordº hathºº needº of them;º andºº straightwayº he will sendºº them.º

 21:4 Now this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

 21:4 º Allºº thisº was done,ºº thatº it might be fulfilledºº whichº was spokenºº byº theº prophet,º saying,ºº

 21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and riding upon an ass, And upon a colt the foal of an ass.

 21:5 Tellº yeºº theº daughterº of Sion,º Behold,ºº thyº Kingº comethºº unto thee,º meek,º andº sittingºº uponº an ass,º andº a coltº the foalº of an ass.º

 21:6 And the disciples went, and did even as Jesus appointed them,

 21:6 Andº theº disciplesº went,ºº andº didºº asº Jesusº commandedºº them,º

 21:7 and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their garments; and he sat thereon.

 21:7 And broughtºº theº ass,º andº theº colt,º andº putºº onº themº theirºº clothes,º andº they setººº [him] thereon.ºº

 21:8 And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way.

 21:8 Andº a very greatº multitudeº spreadºº theirº garmentsº inº theº way;ºº othersºº cut downºº branchesº fromº theº trees,º andº strawedºº [them] inº theº way.º

 21:9 And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

 21:9 Andº theº multitudesº that went before,ºº andº that followed,ºº cried,ºº saying,ºº Hosannaº to theº Sonº of David:º Blessedºº [is] he that comethºº inº the nameº of the Lord;º Hosannaº inº theº highest.º

 21:10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this?

 21:10 Andº when heº was comeºº intoº Jerusalem,º allº theº cityº was moved,ºº saying,ºº Whoº isºº this?º

 21:11 And the multitudes said, This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.

 21:11 Andº theº multitudeº said,ºº Thisº isºº Jesusº theº prophetº ofº Nazarethº of Galilee.º

 21:12 ¶ And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves;

 21:12 ¶ Andº Jesusº wentºº intoº theº templeº of God,º andº cast outºº allº themº that soldºº andº boughtºº inº theº temple,º andº overthrewºº theº tablesº of theº moneychangers,º andº theº seatsº of them that soldºº doves,º

 21:13 and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers.

 21:13 Andº saidºº unto them,º It is written,ºº Myº houseº shall be calledºº the houseº of prayer;º butº yeº have madeºº itº a denº of thieves.º

 21:14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

 21:14 Andº the blindº andº the lameº cameºº to himº inº theº temple;º andº he healedºº them.º

 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation,

 21:15 Andº when theº chief priestsº andº scribesº sawºº theº wonderful thingsº thatº he did,ºº andº theº childrenº cryingºº inº theº temple,º andº saying,ºº Hosannaº to theº Sonº of David;º they were sore displeased,ºº

 21:16 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise?

 21:16 Andº saidºº unto him,º Hearestº thouºº whatº theseº say?ºº Andºº Jesusº saithºº unto them,º Yea;º have ye neverºº read,ººº Out ofº the mouthº of babesº andº sucklingsºº thou hast perfectedºº praise?º

 21:17 ¶ And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

 21:17 ¶ Andº he leftºº them,º and wentºº outº ofº theº cityº intoº Bethany;º andº he lodgedºº there.º

 21:18 Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered.

 21:18 Nowº in the morningº as he returnedºº intoº theº city,º he hungered.ºº

 21:19 And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.

 21:19 Andº when he sawºº aº fig treeº inº theº way,º he cameºº toº it,º andº foundºº nothingº thereon,ºº butº leavesº only,º andº saidºº unto it,º Let noºº fruitº growºº onº theeº henceforwardº forº ever.ºº Andº presentlyº theº fig treeº withered away.ºº

 21:20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig tree immediately wither away?

 21:20 Andº when theº disciplesº sawºº [it], they marvelled,ºº saying,ºº Howº soonº is theº fig treeº withered away!ºº

 21:21 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done.

 21:21 º Jesusº answeredºº andº saidºº unto them,º Verilyº I sayºº unto you,º Ifº ye haveºº faith,º andº doubtºº not,º ye shallºº notº onlyºº doºº thisºº [which is done] to theº fig tree,º butº also ifº ye shall sayºº unto thisº mountain,º Be thou removed,ºº andº be thou castºº intoº theº sea;º it shall be done.ºº

 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

 21:22 Andº all things,º whatsoeverºº ye shall askºº inº prayer,º believing,ºº ye shall receive.ºº

 21:23 ¶ And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

 21:23 ¶ Andº when heº was comeºº intoº theº temple,º theº chief priestsº andº theº eldersº of theº peopleº cameºº unto himº as he was teaching,ºº and said,ºº Byº whatº authorityº doestº thouºº these things?º andº whoº gaveºº theeº thisº authority?º

 21:24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

 21:24 Andº Jesusº answeredºº and saidºº unto them,º I alsoº will askºº youº oneº thing,º whichº ifº ye tellºº me,º I in like wiseº will tellºº youº byº whatº authorityº I doºº these things.º

 21:25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him?

 21:25 Theº baptismº of John,º whenceº wasº it?ºº fromº heaven,º orº ofº men?º Andºº theyº reasonedºº withº themselves,º saying,ºº Ifº we shall say,ºº Fromº heaven;º he will sayºº unto us,º Whyº did yeºº notº thenº believeºº him?º

 21:26 But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet.

 21:26 Butº ifº we shall say,ºº Ofº men;º we fearºº theº people;º forº allº holdºº Johnº asº a prophet.º

 21:27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

 21:27 Andº they answeredºº Jesus,º and said,ºº We cannotº tell.ººº Andº heº saidºº unto them,º Neitherº tellºº Iº youº byº whatº authorityº I doºº these things.º

 21:28 ¶ But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard.

 21:28 ¶ Butº whatº thinkºº ye?º A [certain] manº hadºº twoº sons;º andº he cameºº to theº first,º and said,ºº Son,º goºº workºº to dayº inº myº vineyard.º

 21:29 And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went.

 21:29 Heº answeredººº and said,ºº I willºº not:º butº afterwardº he repented,ºº and went.ºº

 21:30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I [go], sir: and went not.

 21:30 Andº he cameºº to theº second,º and saidºº likewise.º Andº heº answeredºº and said,ºº Iº [go], sir:º andº wentºº not.º

 21:31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

 21:31 Whetherº ofº themº twainº didºº theº willº of [his] father?º Theyº sayºº unto him,º Theº first.º Jesusº saithºº unto them,º Verilyº I sayºº unto you,º Thatº theº publicansº andº theº harlotsº goºº intoº the kingdomº of Godº beforeºººººº you.º

 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

 21:32 Forº Johnº cameºº untoº youº inº the wayº of righteousness,º andº ye believedºº himº not:º butº theº publicansº andº theº harlotsº believedºº him:º andº ye,º when ye had seenºº [it], repentedºº notº afterward,º that ye might believeºº him.º

 21:33 ¶ Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.

 21:33 ¶ Hearºº anotherº parable:º There wasºº a certainºº householder,º whichº plantedºº a vineyard,º andº hedgedº itº round about,ºººº andº diggedºº a winepressº inº it,º andº builtºº a tower,º andº letºº itº outººº to husbandmen,º andº went into a far country:ºº

 21:34 And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits.

 21:34 Andº whenº theº timeº of theº fruitº drew near,ºº he sentºº hisºº servantsº toº theº husbandmen,º that they might receiveºº theº fruitsº of it.º

 21:35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

 21:35 Andº theº husbandmenº tookºº hisº servants,º and beatºº one,ººº andº killedºº another,º andº stonedºº another.º

 21:36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner.

 21:36 Again,º he sentºº otherº servantsº moreº than theº first:º andº they didºº unto themº likewise.º

 21:37 But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.

 21:37 Butº lastº of allº he sentºº untoº themº hisºº son,º saying,ºº They will reverenceºº myº son.º

 21:38 But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.

 21:38 Butº when theº husbandmenº sawºº theº son,º they saidºº amongº themselves,º Thisº isºº theº heir;º come,ºº let us killºº him,º andº let us seizeºº onº hisº inheritance.º

 21:39 And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.

 21:39 Andº they caughtºº him,º andº castºº [him] outº ofº theº vineyard,º andº slewºº [him].

 21:40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

 21:40 Whenº theº lordº thereforeº of theº vineyardº cometh,ºº whatº will he doºº unto thoseº husbandmen?º

 21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

 21:41 They sayºº unto him,º He will miserablyº destroyºº thoseº wicked men,º andº will let outºº [his] vineyardº unto otherº husbandmen,º whichº shall renderºº himº theº fruitsº inº theirº seasons.º

 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes?

 21:42 Jesusº saithºº unto them,º Did yeºº neverºº readºº inº theº scriptures,º The stoneº whichº theº buildersºº rejected,ºº the sameº is becomeººº theº headº of the corner:º thisº isºº the Lord'sº doing,ºººº andº it isºº marvellousº inº ourº eyes?º

 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

 21:43 Thereforeºº sayº Iºº unto you,ºº Theº kingdomº of Godº shall be takenºº fromº you,º andº givenºº to a nationº bringing forthºº theº fruitsº thereof.º

 21:44 And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.

 21:44 Andº whosoever shall fallºº onº thisº stoneº shall be broken:ºº butº onº whomsoeverºº it shall fall,ºº it will grindºº himº to powder.ººº

 21:45 And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

 21:45 Andº when theº chief priestsº andº Phariseesº had heardºº hisº parables,º they perceivedºº thatº he spakeºº ofº them.º

 21:46 And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.

 21:46 Butº when they soughtºº to lay handsºº on him,º they fearedºº theº multitude,º becauseº they tookºº himº forº a prophet.º
