 7:1 ¶ And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah in the fourth [day] of the ninth month, even in Chislev.

 7:1 ¶ And it came to passº in the fourthº yearº of kingº Darius,º [that] the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº Zechariahº in the fourthº [day] of the ninthº month,º [even] in Chisleu;º

 7:2 Now [they of] Beth-el had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to entreat the favor of Jehovah,

 7:2 When they had sentºº unto the houseº of Godºº Sherezerº and Regemmelech,º and their men,ºº to prayººº beforeº the LORD,º

 7:3 [and] to speak unto the priests of the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

 7:3 [And] to speakºº untoº the priestsº whichº [were] in the houseº of the LORDº of hosts,º and toº the prophets,º saying,ºº Should I weepºº in the fifthº month,º separatingºº myself,º asº I have doneºº theseº so manyº years?º

 7:4 ¶ Then came the word of Jehovah of hosts unto me, saying,

 7:4 ¶ Then cameº the wordº of the LORDº of hostsº untoº me, saying,ºº

 7:5 Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh [month], even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

 7:5 Speakºº untoº allº the peopleº of the land,º and toº the priests,º saying,ºº Whenº ye fastedºº and mournedºº in the fifthº and seventhº [month], even thoseº seventyº years,º did ye at allºº fastºº unto me, [even] to me?º

 7:6 And when ye eat, and when ye drink, do not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

 7:6 And whenº ye did eat,ºº and whenº ye did drink,ºº did notº yeº eatºº [for yourselves], and drinkºº [for yourselves]?

 7:7 [Should ye] not [hear] the words which Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?

 7:7 [Should ye] notº [hear]º the wordsº whichº the LORDº hath criedºº byº the formerº prophets,º when Jerusalemº wasº inhabitedºº and in prosperity,º and the citiesº thereof round aboutº her,º when [men] inhabitedºº the southº and the plain?º

 7:8 ¶ And the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah, saying,

 7:8 ¶ And the wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº Zechariah,º saying,ºº

 7:9 Thus hath Jehovah of hosts spoken, saying, Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother;

 7:9 Thusº speakethºº the LORDº of hosts,º saying,ºº Executeºº trueº judgment,º and shewºº mercyº and compassionsº every manº toº his brother:º

 7:10 and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the sojourner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.

 7:10 And oppressºº notº the widow,º nor the fatherless,º the stranger,º nor the poor;º and let noneº of you imagineºº evilºº againstº his brotherº in your heart.º

 7:11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

 7:11 But they refusedºº to hearken,ºº and pulledº awayºººº the shoulder,º and stoppedºº their ears,º that they should not hear.ººº

 7:12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets: therefore there came great wrath from Jehovah of hosts.

 7:12 Yea, they madeºº their heartsº [as] an adamant stone,º lest they should hearººº theº law,º and the wordsº whichº the LORDº of hostsº hath sentºº in his spiritº byº the formerº prophets:º therefore cameº a greatº wrathº fromºº the LORDº of hosts.º

 7:13 And it is come to pass that, as he cried, and they would not hear, so they shall cry, and I will not hear, said Jehovah of hosts;

 7:13 Therefore it is come to pass,º [that] asº he cried,ºº and they would notº hear;ºº soº they cried,ºº and I would notº hear,ºº saithºº the LORDº of hosts:º

 7:14 but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

 7:14 But I scattered them with a whirlwindºº amongº allº the nationsº whomº they knewºº not.º Thus the landº was desolateºº afterº them, that no man passed throughººº nor returned:ººº for they laidºº the pleasantº landº desolate.º
