 3:1 ¶
And he shall say, Hear now these words, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and ye remnant of the house of Israel; is it not for you to know judgment? |
|
 3:1 ¶
And I said,ºº
Hear,ºº
I pray you,º
O headsº
of Jacob,º
and ye princesº
of the houseº
of Israel;º
[Is it] notº
for you to knowººº
judgment?º |
 3:2
[who] hate good, and seek evil; [who] tear their skins off them, and their flesh off their bones: |
|
 3:2
Who hateºº
the good,º
and loveºº
the evil;º
who pluck offºº
their skinº
from offºº
them, and their fleshº
from offºº
their bones;º |
 3:3
even as they devoured the flesh of my people, and stripped their skins off them, and broke their bones, and divided [them] as flesh for the caldron, and as meat for the pot, |
|
 3:3
Whoº
also eatºº
the fleshº
of my people,º
and flayºº
their skinº
from offºº
them; and they breakºº
their bones,º
and chop them in pieces,ºº
asº
for the pot,º
and as fleshº
withinº
the caldron.º |
 3:4
thus they shall cry to the Lord, but he shall not hearken to them; and he shall turn away his face from them at that time, because they have done wickedly in their practices against themselves. |
|
 3:4
Thenº
shall they cryºº
untoº
Yahweh,º
but he will notº
hearºº
them: he will even hideºº
his faceº
fromº
them at thatº
time,º
asº
they have behaved themselves illºº
in their doings.º |
 3:5 ¶
Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that lead my people astray, that bit with their teeth, and proclaim peace to them; and [when] nothing was put into their mouth, they raised up war against them: |
|
 3:5 ¶
Thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
concerningº
the prophetsº
that makeº
my peopleº
err,ºº
that biteºº
with their teeth,º
and cry,ºº
Peace;º
and he thatº
puttethºº
notº
intoº
their mouths,º
they even prepareºº
warº
againstº
him. |
 3:6
therefore there shall be night to you instead of a vision, and there shall be to you darkness instead of prophecy; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be dark upon them. |
|
 3:6
Thereforeº
nightº
[shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision;ºº
and it shall be darkººº
unto you, that ye shall not divine;ººº
and the sunº
shall go downºº
overº
the prophets,º
and the dayº
shall be darkºº
overº
them. |
 3:7
And the seers of night-visions shall be ashamed, and the prophets shall be laughed to scorn: and all the people shall speak against them, because there shall be none to hearken to them. |
|
 3:7
Then shall the seersº
be ashamed,ºº
and the divinersºº
confounded:ºº
yea, they shall allº
coverººº
their lips;º
forº
[there is] noº
answerº
of Elohim.º |
 3:8 ¶
Surely I will strengthen myself with the Spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of power, to declare to Jacob his transgressions, and to Israel his sins. |
|
 3:8 ¶
But trulyº
Iº
am fullºº
of powerº
byº
the spiritº
of Yahweh,º
and of judgment,º
and of might,º
to declareºº
unto Jacobº
his transgression,º
and to Israelº
his sin.º |
 3:9
Hear now these words, ye chiefs of the house of Jacob, and the remnant of the house of Israel, who hate judgment, and pervert all righteousness; |
|
 3:9
Hearºº
this,º
I pray you,º
ye headsº
of the houseº
of Jacob,º
and princesº
of the houseº
of Israel,º
that abhorºº
judgment,º
and pervertºº
allº
equity.º |
 3:10
who build up Zion{gr.Sion} with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. |
|
 3:10
They build upºº
Zionº
with blood,º
and Jerusalemº
with iniquity.º |
 3:11
The heads thereof have judged for gifts, and the priests thereof have answered for hire, and her prophets have divined for silver: and [yet] they have rested on the Lord, saying, Is not the Lord among us? no evil shall come upon us. |
|
 3:11
The headsº
thereof judgeºº
for reward,º
and the priestsº
thereof teachºº
for hire,º
and the prophetsº
thereof divineºº
for money:º
yet will they leanºº
uponº
Yahweh,º
and say,ºº
[Is] notº
Yahwehº
amongº
us? noneº
evilº
can comeºº
uponº
us. |
 3:12
Therefore on your account Zion{gr.Sion} shall be ploughed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be as a storehouse of fruits, and the mountain of the house as a grove of the forest. |
|
 3:12
Thereforeº
shall Zionº
for your sakeº
be plowedºº
[as] a field,º
and Jerusalemº
shall becomeº
heaps,º
and the mountainº
of the houseº
as the high placesº
of the forest.º |
