 7:1 ¶
Alas for me! for I am become as one gathering straw in harvest, and as [one gathering] grape-gleanings in the vintage, when there is no cluster for me to eat the first-ripe fruit: alas my soul! |
|
 7:1 ¶
Woeº
is me! forº
I amº
as when they have gatheredº
the summer fruits,º
as the grapegleaningsº
of the vintage:º
[there is] noº
clusterº
to eat:ºº
my soulº
desiredºº
the firstripe fruit.º |
 7:2
For the godly is perished from the earth; and there is none among men that orders [his way] aright: they all quarrel even to blood: they grievously afflict every one his neighbour: |
|
 7:2
The goodº
[man] is perishedºº
out ofº
the earth:º
and [there is] noneº
uprightº
among men:º
they allº
lie in waitºº
for blood;º
they huntºº
every manºº
his brotherº
with a net.º |
 7:3 ¶
they prepare their hands for mischief, the prince asks [a reward], and the judge speaks flattering words; it is the desire of their soul: |
|
 7:3 ¶
That they may do evilºº
with both handsº
earnestly,ºº
the princeº
asketh,ºº
and the judgeºº
[asketh] for a reward;º
and the greatº
[man], heº
utterethºº
his mischievousº
desire:º
so they wrap it up.ºº |
 7:4
therefore I will take away their goods as a devouring moth, and as one who acts by a [rigid] rule in a day of visitation. Woe, woe, thy times of vengeance are come; now shall be their lamentations. |
|
 7:4
The bestº
of them [is] as a brier:º
the most uprightº
[is sharper] than a thorn hedge:ºº
the dayº
of thy watchmenºº
[and] thy visitationº
cometh;ºº
nowº
shall beº
their perplexity.º |
 7:5 ¶
Trust not in friends, and confide not in guides: beware of thy wife, so as not to commit anything to her. |
|
 7:5 ¶
Trustºº
ye notº
in a friend,º
put ye not confidenceººº
in a guide:º
keepºº
the doorsº
of thy mouthº
from her that liethººº
in thy bosom.º |
 7:6
For the son dishonours his father, the daughter will rise up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: those in his house [shall be] all a man's enemies. |
|
 7:6
Forº
the sonº
dishonourethºº
the father,º
the daughterº
riseth upºº
against her mother,º
the daughter in lawº
against her mother in law;º
a man'sº
enemiesºº
[are] the menºº
of his own house.º |
 7:7
But I will look to the Lord; I will wait upon God my Saviour: my God will hearken to me. |
|
 7:7
Therefore Iº
will lookºº
unto Yahweh;º
I will waitºº
for the Elohimº
of my salvation:º
my Elohimº
will hearºº
me. |
 7:8 ¶
Rejoice not against me, mine enemy; for I have fallen [yet] shall arise; for though I should sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me. |
|
 7:8 ¶
Rejoiceºº
notº
against me, O mine enemy:ºº
whenº
I fall,ºº
I shall arise;ºº
whenº
I sitºº
in darkness,º
Yahwehº
[shall be] a lightº
unto me. |
 7:9
I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he make good my cause: he also shall maintain my right, and shall bring me out to the light, [and] I shall behold his righteousness. |
|
 7:9
I will bearºº
the indignationº
of Yahweh,º
becauseº
I have sinnedºº
against him, untilº
he pleadºº
my cause,º
and executeºº
judgmentº
for me: he will bring me forthºº
to the light,º
[and] I shall beholdºº
his righteousness.º |
 7:10
And she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shall clothe herself with shame, who says, Where [is] the Lord thy God? mine eyes shall look upon her: now shall she be for trampling as mire in the ways. |
|
 7:10
Then [she that is] mine enemyºº
shall seeºº
[it], and shameº
shall coverºº
her which saidºº
untoº
me, Whereº
is Yahwehº
thy Elohim?º
mine eyesº
shall beholdºº
her: nowº
shall she beº
trodden downº
as the mireº
of the streets.º |
 7:11
[It is] the day of making of brick; that day shall be thine utter destruction, and that day shall utterly abolish thine ordinances. |
|
 7:11
[In] the dayº
that thy wallsº
are to be built,ºº
[in] thatº
dayº
shall the decreeº
be far removed.ºº |
 7:12
And thy cities shall be levelled, and parted among the Assyrians; and thy strong cities shall be parted from Tyre to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. |
|
 7:12
[In] thatº
dayº
[also] he shall comeºº
even toº
thee fromº
Assyria,º
and [from] the fortifiedº
cities,º
and fromº
the fortressº
even toº
the river,º
and from seaº
to sea,ºº
and [from] mountainº
to mountain.º |
 7:13
And the land shall be utterly desolate together with them that inhabit it, because of the fruit of their doings. |
|
 7:13
Notwithstanding the landº
shall beº
desolateº
because ofº
them that dwellºº
therein, for the fruitºº
of their doings.º |
 7:14 ¶
Tend thy people with thy rod, the sheep of thine inheritance, those that inhabit by themselves the thicket in the midst of Carmel: they shall feed in the land of Bashan{gr.Basan}, and in the land of Gilead{gr.Galaad}, as in the days of old. |
|
 7:14 ¶
Feedºº
thy peopleº
with thy rod,º
the flockº
of thine heritage,º
which dwellºº
solitarilyº
[in] the wood,º
in the midstº
of Carmel:º
let them feedºº
[in] Bashanº
and Gilead,º
as in the daysº
of old.º |
 7:15
And according to the days of thy departure out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} shall ye see marvellous [things]. |
|
 7:15
According to the daysº
of thy comingºº
outº
of the landºº
of Egyptº
will I shewºº
unto him marvellousºº
[things]. |
 7:16 ¶
The nations shall see and be ashamed; and at all their might they shall lay their hands upon their mouth, their ears shall be deafened. |
|
 7:16 ¶
The nationsº
shall seeºº
and be confoundedºº
at allºº
their might:º
they shall layºº
[their] handº
uponº
[their] mouth,º
their earsº
shall be deaf.ºº |
 7:17
They shall lick the dust as serpents crawling on the earth, they shall be confounded in their holes; they shall be amazed at the Lord our God, and will be afraid of thee. |
|
 7:17
They shall lickºº
the dustº
like a serpent,º
they shall moveºº
out of their holesºº
like wormsºº
of the earth:º
they shall be afraidºº
ofº
Yahwehº
our Elohim,º
and shall fearºº
because ofº
thee. |
 7:18
Who is a God like thee, cancelling iniquities, and passing over the sins of the remnant of his inheritance? and he has not kept his anger for a testimony, for he delights in mercy. |
|
 7:18
Whoº
[is] an Elº
like unto thee,º
that pardonethºº
iniquity,º
and passeth byººº
the transgressionº
of the remnantº
of his heritage?º
he retainethºº
notº
his angerº
for ever,º
becauseº
heº
delightethºº
[in] mercy.º |
 7:19
He will return and have mercy upon us; he will sink our iniquities, and they shall be cast into the depth of the sea, [even] all our sins. |
|
 7:19
He will turn again,ºº
he will have compassionºº
upon us; he will subdueºº
our iniquities;º
and thou wilt castºº
allº
their sinsº
into the depthsº
of the sea.º |
 7:20
He shall give blessings truly to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham{gr.Abraam}, as thou swarest to our fathers, according to the former days. |
|
 7:20
Thou wilt performºº
the truthº
to Jacob,º
[and] the mercyº
to Abraham,º
whichº
thou hast swornºº
unto our fathersº
from the daysºº
of old.º |
