 6:1 ¶
Hear now a word: the Lord God has said; Arise, plead with the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice. |
|
 6:1 ¶
Hearºº
ye nowºº
whatº
Yahwehº
saith;ºº
Arise,ºº
contendºº
thou beforeº
the mountains,º
and let the hillsº
hearºº
thy voice.º |
 6:2
Hear ye, O mountains, the controversy of the Lord, and [ye] valleys [even] the foundations of the earth: for the Lord [has] a controversy with his people, and will plead with Israel. |
|
 6:2
Hearºº
ye, O mountains,ºº
Yahweh'sº
controversy,º
and ye strongº
foundationsº
of the earth:º
forº
Yahwehº
hath a controversyº
withº
his people,º
and he will pleadºº
withº
Israel.º |
 6:3
O my people, what have I done to thee? or wherein have I grieved thee? or wherein have I troubled thee? answer me. |
|
 6:3
O my people,º
whatº
have I doneºº
unto thee? and whereinº
have I weariedºº
thee? testifyºº
against me. |
 6:4
For I brought tee up out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, and sent before thee Mosheh{gr.Moses}, and Aaron, and Miriam{gr.Mariam}. |
|
 6:4
Forº
I brought thee upºº
out of the landºº
of Egypt,º
and redeemedºº
thee out of the houseºº
of servants;º
and I sentºº
beforeº
theeº
Moses,º
Aaron,º
and Miriam.º |
 6:5
O my people, remember now, what counsel Bela{gr.Balac} king of Moab took against thee, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, from the reeds to Gilgal{gr.Galgal}; that the righteousness of the Lord might be known. |
|
 6:5
O my people,º
rememberºº
nowº
whatº
Balakº
kingº
of Moabº
consulted,ºº
and whatº
Balaamº
the sonº
of Beorº
answeredºº
him fromº
Shittimº
untoº
Gilgal;º
thatº
ye may knowºº
the righteousnessº
of Yahweh.º |
 6:6 ¶
Wherewithal shall I reach the Lord, [and] lay hold of my God most high? shall I reach him by whole-burnt-offerings, by calves of a year old? |
|
 6:6 ¶
Wherewithº
shall I come beforeºº
Yahweh,º
[and] bowºº
myselfº
before the highº
Elohim?º
shall I come beforeºº
him with burnt offerings,º
with calvesº
of a yearº
old?º |
 6:7
Will the Lord accept thousands of rams, or ten thousands of fat goats? should I give my first-born for ungodliness, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? |
|
 6:7
Will Yahwehº
be pleasedºº
with thousandsº
of rams,º
[or] with ten thousandsº
of riversº
of oil?º
shall I giveºº
my firstbornº
[for] my transgression,º
the fruitº
of my bodyº
[for] the sinº
of my soul?º |
 6:8
Has it [not] been told thee, O man, what [is] good? or what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justice, and love mercy, and be ready to walk with the Lord thy God? |
|
 6:8
He hath shewedºº
thee, O man,º
whatº
[is] good;º
and whatº
doth Yahwehº
requireºº
ofº
thee, butºº
to doºº
justly,º
and to loveºº
mercy,º
and to walkººº
humblyºº
withº
thy Elohim?º |
 6:9
The Lord's voice shall be proclaimed in the city, and he shall save those that fear his name: hear, O tribe; and who shall order the city? |
|
 6:9
Yahweh'sº
voiceº
criethºº
unto the city,º
and [the man of] wisdomº
shall seeºº
thy name:º
hearºº
ye the rod,º
and whoº
hath appointedºº
it. |
 6:10 ¶
[Is there] not fire, and the house of the wicked heaping up wicked treasures, and [that] with the pride of unrighteousness? |
|
 6:10 ¶
Are thereº
yetº
the treasuresº
of wickednessººº
in the houseº
of the wicked,º
and the scantº
measureº
[that is] abominable?ºº |
 6:11
Shall the wicked be justified by the balanced, or deceitful weights in the bag, |
|
 6:11
Shall I count [them] pureºº
with the wickedº
balances,º
and with the bagº
of deceitfulº
weights?º |
 6:12
whereby they have accumulated their ungodly wealth, and they that dwell in the city have uttered falsehoods, and their tongue has been exalted in their mouth? |
|
 6:12
Forº
the rich menº
thereof are fullºº
of violence,º
and the inhabitantsºº
thereof have spokenºº
lies,º
and their tongueº
[is] deceitfulº
in their mouth.º |
 6:13
Therefore will I begin to smite thee; I will destroy thee in thy sins. |
|
 6:13
Therefore alsoº
will Iº
make [thee] sickºº
in smitingºº
thee, in making [thee] desolateºº
because ofº
thy sins.º |
 6:14
Thou shalt eat, and shalt not be satisfied; and there shall be darkness upon thee; and he shall depart from [thee], and thou shalt not escape; and all that shall escape shall be delivered over to the sword. |
|
 6:14
Thouº
shalt eat,ºº
but notº
be satisfied;ºº
and thy casting downº
[shall be] in the midstº
of thee; and thou shalt take hold,ºº
but shalt notº
deliver;ºº
and [that] whichº
thou deliverestºº
will I give upºº
to the sword.º |
 6:15
Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt press the olive, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with oil; and [shalt make] wine, but ye shall drink no wine: and the ordinances of my people shall be utterly abolished. |
|
 6:15
Thouº
shalt sow,ºº
but thou shalt notº
reap;ºº
thouº
shalt treadºº
the olives,º
but thou shalt notº
anointºº
thee with oil;º
and sweet wine,º
but shalt notº
drinkºº
wine.º |
 6:16 ¶
For thou hast kept the statues of Zimri{gr.Zambri}, and [done] all the works of the house of Ahab{gr.Achaab}; and ye have walked in their ways, that I might deliver thee to utter destruction, and those that inhabit the city to hissing: and ye shall bear the reproach of nations. |
|
 6:16 ¶
For the statutesº
of Omriº
are kept,ºº
and allº
the worksº
of the houseº
of Ahab,º
and ye walkººº
in their counsels;º
thatº
I should makeºº
thee a desolation,º
and the inhabitantsºº
thereof an hissing:º
therefore ye shall bearºº
the reproachº
of my people.º |
