 9:1 ¶
The burden of the word of the Lord, in the land of Shadrach{gr.Sedrach}, and his sacrifice [shall be] in Damascus; for the Lord looks upon men, and upon all the tribes of Israel. |
|
 9:1 ¶
The burdenº
of the wordº
of Yahwehº
in the landº
of Hadrach,º
and Damascusº
[shall be] the restº
thereof: whenº
the eyesº
of man,º
as of allº
the tribesº
of Israel,º
[shall be] toward Yahweh.º |
 9:2
And in Hamath{gr.Emath}, [even] in her coasts, [are] Tyre and Zidon{gr.Sidon}, because they were very wise. |
|
 9:2
And Hamathº
alsoº
shall borderºº
thereby; Tyrus,º
and Zidon,º
thoughº
it be veryº
wise.ºº |
 9:3
And Tyrus built strong-holds for herself, and heaped up silver as dust, and gathered gold as the mire of the ways. |
|
 9:3
And Tyrusº
did buildºº
herself a strong hold,º
and heaped upºº
silverº
as the dust,º
and fine goldº
as the mireº
of the streets.º |
 9:4
And therefore the Lord will take them for a possession, and will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be consumed with fire. |
|
 9:4
Behold,º
Yahwehº
will cast her out,ºº
and he will smiteºº
her powerº
in the sea;º
and sheº
shall be devouredºº
with fire.º |
 9:5
Askelon{gr.Ascalon} shall see, and fear; Gaza also, and shall be greatly pained, and Ekron{gr.Accaron}; for she is ashamed at her trespass; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Askelon{gr.Ascalon} shall not be inhabited. |
|
 9:5
Ashkelonº
shall seeºº
[it], and fear;ºº
Gazaº
also [shall see it], and be veryº
sorrowful,ººº
and Ekron;º
forº
her expectationº
shall be ashamed;ººº
and the kingº
shall perishºº
from Gaza,ºº
and Ashkelonº
shall notº
be inhabited.ºº |
 9:6
And aliens shall dwell in Ashdod{gr.Azotus}, and I will bring down the pride of the Philistines. |
|
 9:6
And a bastardº
shall dwellºº
in Ashdod,º
and I will cut offºº
the prideº
of the Philistines.º |
 9:7
And I will take their blood out of their mouth, and their abominations from between their teeth; and these also shall be left to our God, and they shall be as a captain of a thousand in Judah{gr.Juda}, and Ekron{gr.Accaron} as a Jebusite. |
|
 9:7
And I will take awayºº
his bloodº
out of his mouth,ºº
and his abominationsº
from betweenºº
his teeth:º
but he that remaineth,ºº
evenº
he,º
[shall be] for our Elohim,º
and he shall beº
as a governorº
in Judah,º
and Ekronº
as a Jebusite.º |
 9:8
And I will set up a defence for my house, that they may not pass through, nor turn back, neither shall there any more come upon them one to drive them away: for now have I seen with mine eyes. |
|
 9:8
And I will encampºº
about mine houseº
because of the army,º
because of him that passeth by,ººº
and because of him that returneth:ººº
and noº
oppressorºº
shall passº
throughººº
them any more:º
forº
nowº
have I seenºº
with mine eyes.º |
 9:9 ¶
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion{gr.Sion}; proclaim [it] aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, the King is coming to thee, just, and a Saviour; he is meek and riding on an ass, and a young foal. |
|
 9:9 ¶
Rejoiceºº
greatly,º
O daughterº
of Zion;º
shout,ºº
O daughterº
of Jerusalem:º
behold,º
thy Kingº
comethºº
unto thee: heº
[is] just,º
and having salvation;ºº
lowly,º
and ridingºº
uponº
an ass,º
and uponº
a coltº
the foalº
of an ass.º |
 9:10
And he shall destroy the chariots out of Ephraim, and the horse out of Jerusalem, and the bow of war shall be utterly destroyed; and [there shall be] abundance and peace out of the nations; and he shall rule over the waters as far as the sea, and the rivers [to] the ends of the earth. |
|
 9:10
And I will cut offºº
the chariotº
from Ephraim,ºº
and the horseº
from Jerusalem,ºº
and the battleº
bowº
shall be cut off:ºº
and he shall speakºº
peaceº
unto the heathen:º
and his dominionº
[shall be] from seaºº
[even] toº
sea,º
and from the riverºº
[even] toº
the endsº
of the earth.º |
 9:11
And thou by the blood of thy covenant has sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit that has no water. |
|
 9:11
As for theeº
also,º
by the bloodº
of thy covenantº
I have sent forthºº
thy prisonersº
out of the pitºº
wherein [is] noº
water.º |
 9:12 ¶
Ye shall dwell in strongholds, ye prisoners of the congregation: and for one day of thy captivity I will recompense thee double. |
|
 9:12 ¶
Turnºº
you to the strong hold,º
ye prisonersº
of hope:º
evenº
to dayº
do I declareºº
[that] I will renderºº
doubleº
unto thee; |
 9:13
For I have bent thee, O Judah{gr.Juda}, for myself [as] a bow, I have filled Ephraim; and I will raise up thy children, O Zion{gr.Sion}, against the children of the Greeks, and I will handle thee as the sword of a warrior. |
|
 9:13
Whenº
I have bentºº
Judahº
for me, filledºº
the bowº
with Ephraim,º
and raisedº
upºº
thy sons,º
O Zion,º
againstº
thy sons,º
O Greece,º
and madeºº
thee as the swordº
of a mighty man.º |
 9:14
And the Lord shall be over them, and [his] arrow shall go forth as lightning: and the Lord Almighty shall blow with the trumpet; and shall proceed with the tumult of his threatening. |
|
 9:14
And Yahwehº
shall be seenºº
overº
them, and his arrowº
shall go forthºº
as the lightning:º
and Adonaiº
Yahwehº
shall blowºº
the trumpet,º
and shall goºº
with whirlwindsº
of the south.º |
 9:15
The Lord Almighty shall protect them, and they shall destroy them, and overwhelm them with sling-stones; and they shall swallow them down as wine, and fill the bowls as the altar. |
|
 9:15
Yahwehº
Sabaothº
shall defendººº
them; and they shall devour,ºº
and subdueºº
with slingº
stones;ºº
and they shall drink,ºº
[and] make a noiseºº
as throughº
wine;º
and they shall be filledºº
like bowls,º
[and] as the cornersº
of the altar.º |
 9:16
And the Lord their God shall save them in that day, [even] his people as a flock; for holy stones are rolled upon his land. |
|
 9:16
And Yahwehº
their Elohimº
shall saveºº
them in thatº
dayº
as the flockº
of his people:º
forº
they [shall be as] the stonesº
of a crown,º
lifted up as an ensignºº
uponº
his land.º |
 9:17
For if he has anything good, and if he has anything fair, the young [men shall have] corn, and [there shall be] fragrant wine to the virgins. |
|
 9:17
Forº
howº
great [is] his goodness,º
and howº
great [is] his beauty!º
cornº
shall make the young menº
cheerful,ºº
and new wineº
the maids.º |
