2 Kings 25

1 Jerusalem is besieged. 4 Zedekiah taken, his sons slain, his eyes put out. 8 Nebuzar-adan defaceth the city, carrieth the remnant, except a few poor labourers, into captivity, 13 spoileth and carrieth away the treasures. 18 The nobles are slain at Riblah. 22 Gedaliah, who was set over them that remained, being slain, the rest flee into Egypt. 27 Evil-merodach advanceth Jehoiachin in his court.

 25:1 Now in the ninth 8671 year 8141 of his reign 4427a, on the tenth 6218 day of the tenth 6224 month 2320, Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894 came 935, he and all 3605 his army 2428, against 5921 Jerusalem 3389, camped 2583 against 5921 it and built 1129 a siege 1785 wall 1785 all 5439 around 5439 it.

 25:2 So the city 5892b was under siege 4692 until 5704 the eleventh 6249 6240 year 8141 of King 4428 Zedekiah 6667.

 25:3 On the ninth 8672 day of the [fourth] month 2320 the famine 7458 was so severe 2388 in the city 5892b that there was no 3808 food 3899 for the people 5971a of the land 776.

 25:4 Then the city 5892b was broken 1234 into, and all 3605 the men 376 of war 4421 [fled] by night 3915 by way 1870 of the gate 8179 between 996 the two walls 2346 beside 5921 the king’s 4428 garden 1588, though the Chaldeans 3778 were all 5439 around 5439 the city 5892b. And they went 1980 by way 1870 of the Arabah 6160.

 25:5 But the army 2428 of the Chaldeans 3778 pursued 7291 the king 4428 and overtook 5381 him in the plains 6160 of Jericho 3405 and all 3605 his army 2428 was scattered 6327a from him.

 25:6 Then they captured 8610 the king 4428 and brought 5927 him to the king 4428 of Babylon 894 at Riblah 7247, and he passed 1696 sentence 1696 on him.

 25:7 They slaughtered 7819 the sons 1121 of Zedekiah 6667 before his eyes 5869, then put 5786 out the eyes 5869 of Zedekiah 6667 and bound 631 him with bronze 5178 fetters 5178 and brought 935 him to Babylon 894.

 25:8 ¶ Now on the seventh 7651 day of the fifth 2549 month 2320, which 1931 was the nineteenth 8672 6240 year 8141 of King 4428 Nebuchadnezzar 5019, king 4428 of Babylon 894, Nebuzaradan 5018 the captain 7227b of the guard 2876, a servant 5650 of the king 4428 of Babylon 894, came 935 to Jerusalem 3389.

 25:9 He burned 8313 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, the king’s 4428 house 1004, and all 3605 the houses 1004 of Jerusalem 3389; even every 3605 great 1419 house 1004 he burned 8313 with fire 784.

 25:10 So all 3605 the army 2428 of the Chaldeans 3778 who 834 [were with] the captain 7227b of the guard 2876 broke 5422 down 5422 the walls 2346 around 5439 Jerusalem 3389.

 25:11 Then the rest 3499a of the people 5971a who were left 7604 in the city 5892b and the deserters 5307 who 834 had deserted 5307 to the king 4428 of Babylon 894 and the rest 3499a of the people 5971a, Nebuzaradan 5018 the captain 7227b of the guard 2876 carried 1540 away 1540 into exile 1540.

 25:12 But the captain 7227b of the guard 2876 left 7604 some 4480 of the poorest 1803b of the land 776 to be vinedressers 3755 and plowmen 3009.

 25:13 ¶ Now the bronze 5178 pillars 5982 which 834 were in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, and the stands 4350 and the bronze 5178 sea 3220 which 834 were in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, the Chaldeans 3778 broke 7665 in pieces 7665 and carried 5375 the bronze 5178 to Babylon 894.

 25:14 They took 3947 away the pots 5518a, the shovels 3257, the snuffers 4212, the spoons 3709, and all 3605 the bronze 5178 vessels 3627 which 834 were used 8334 in [temple] service 8334.

 25:15 The captain 7227b of the guard 2876 also took 3947 away the firepans 4289 and the basins 4219, what 834 was fine 3701 gold 2091 and what 834 was fine 3701 silver 3701.

 25:16 The two 8147 pillars 5982, the one 259 sea 3220, and the stands 4350 which 834 Solomon 8010 had made 6213a for the house 1004 of the LORD 3068—the bronze 5178 of all 3605 these 428 vessels 3627 was beyond 3808 weight 4948.

 25:17 The height 6967 of the one 259 pillar 5982 was eighteen 8083 6240 cubits 520, and a bronze 5178 capital 3805 was on it; the height 6967 of the capital 3805 was three 7969 cubits 520, with a network 7639 and pomegranates 7416 on the capital 3805 all 5439 around 5439, all 3605 of bronze 5178. And the second 8145 pillar 5982 was like these 428 with network 7639.

 25:18 ¶ Then the captain 7227b of the guard 2876 took 3947 Seraiah 8304 the chief 7218 priest 3548 and Zephaniah 6846 the second 4932 priest 3548, with the three 7969 officers 8104 of the temple 5592b.

 25:19 From the city 5892b he took 3947 one 259 official 5631 who 834 was overseer 6496 of the men 376 of war 4421, and five 2568 of the king’s 4428 advisers 582 7200 who 834 were found 4672 in the city 5892b; and the scribe 5613b of the captain 8269 of the army 6635 who mustered 6633 the people 5971a of the land 776; and sixty 8346 men 376 of the people 5971a of the land 776 who were found 4672 in the city 5892b.

 25:20 Nebuzaradan 5018 the captain 7227b of the guard 2876 took 3947 them and brought 1980 them to the king 4428 of Babylon 894 at Riblah 7247.

 25:21 Then the king 4428 of Babylon 894 struck 5221 them down and put 4191 them to death 4191 at Riblah 7247 in the land 776 of Hamath 2574. So Judah 3063 was led 1540 away 1540 into exile 1540 from its land 127.

 25:22 ¶ Now [as for] the people 5971a who were left 7604 in the land 776 of Judah 3063, whom 834 Nebuchadnezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894 had left 7604, he appointed 6485 Gedaliah 1436b the son 1121 of Ahikam 296, the son 1121 of Shaphan 8227b over 5921 them.

 25:23 When all 3605 the captains 8269 of the forces 2428, they and [their] men 376, heard 8085 that the king 4428 of Babylon 894 had appointed 6485 Gedaliah 1436b [governor], they came 935 to Gedaliah 1436b to Mizpah 4709, namely, Ishmael 3458 the son 1121 of Nethaniah 5418, and Johanan 3076 the son 1121 of Kareah 7143, and Seraiah 8304 the son 1121 of Tanhumeth 8576 the Netophathite 5200, and Jaazaniah 2970 the son 1121 of the Maacathite 4602, they and their men 376.

 25:24 Gedaliah 1436b swore 7650 to them and their men 376 and said 559 to them, “Do not be afraid 3372a of the servants 5650 of the Chaldeans 3778; live 3427 in the land 776 and serve 5647 the king 4428 of Babylon 894, and it will be well 3190 with you.”

 25:25 ¶ But it came 1961 about in the seventh 7637 month 2320, that Ishmael 3458 the son 1121 of Nethaniah 5418, the son 1121 of Elishama 476, of the royal 4410 family 2233, came 935 with ten 6235 men 376 and struck 5221 Gedaliah 1436b down so that he died 4191 along with the Jews 3064 and the Chaldeans 3778 who 834 were with him at Mizpah 4709.

 25:26 Then all 3605 the people 5971a, both 4480 small 6996b and great 1419, and the captains 8269 of the forces 2428 arose 6965 and went 935 to Egypt 4714; for they were afraid 3372a of the Chaldeans 3778.

 25:27 ¶ Now it came 1961 about in the thirty-seventh 7970 7651 year 8141 of the exile 1546 of Jehoiachin 3078 king 4428 of Judah 3063, in the twelfth 8147 6240 month 2320, on the twenty-seventh 6242 7651 [day] of the month 2320, that Evil-merodach 192 king 4428 of Babylon 894, in the year 8141 that he became 4427a king 4427a, released 5375 7218 Jehoiachin 3078 king 4428 of Judah 3063 from prison 1004 3608;

 25:28 and he spoke 1696 kindly 2899b to him and set 5414 his throne 3678 above 4480 5921 the throne 3678 of the kings 4428 who 834 [were] with him in Babylon 894.

 25:29 Jehoiachin changed 8132 his prison 3608 clothes 899b and had 398 his meals 3899 in the king’s presence 6440 regularly 8548 all 3605 the days 3117 of his life 2425b;

 25:30 and for his allowance 737, a regular 8548 allowance 737 was given 5414 him by the king 4428, a portion 1697 for each 3117 day 3117, all 3605 the days 3117 of his life 2425b.
