2 Kings 4

1 Elisha multiplieth the widow's oil. 8 He giveth a son to the good Shunammite. 18 He raiseth again her dead son. 38 At Gilgal he healeth the deadly pottage. 42 He satisfieth an hundred men with twenty loaves.

 4:1 Now a certain 259 woman 802 of the wives 802 of the sons 1121 of the prophets 5030 cried 6817 out to Elisha 477, “Your servant 5650 my husband 376 is dead 4191, and you know 3045 that your servant 5650 feared 3372a the LORD 3068; and the creditor 5383 has come 935 to take 3947 my two 8147 children 3206 to be his slaves 5650.”

 4:2 Elisha 477 said 559 to her, “What 4100 shall I do 6213a for you? Tell 5046 me, what 4100 do you have 3426 in the house 1004?” And she said 559, “Your maidservant 8198 has 369 nothing 369 3605 in the house 1004 except 3588 518 a jar 610 of oil 8081.”

 4:3 Then he said 559, “Go 1980, borrow 7592 vessels 3627 at large 2351 for yourself from all 3605 your neighbors 7934, [even] empty 7386 vessels 3627; do not get 4591 a few 4591.

 4:4 “And you shall go 935 in and shut 5462 the door 1817 behind 1157 you and your sons 1121, and pour 3332 out into all 3605 these 428 vessels 3627, and you shall set 5265 aside 5265 what 4392 is full 4392.”

 4:5 So she went 1980 from him and shut 5462 the door 1817 behind 1157 her and her sons 1121; they were bringing 5066 [the vessels] to her and she poured 3332.

 4:6 When the vessels 3627 were full 4390, she said 559 to her son 1121, “Bring 5066 me another 5750 vessel 3627.” And he said 559 to her, “There 369 is not one 369 vessel 3627 more 5750.” And the oil 8081 stopped 5975.

 4:7 Then she came 935 and told 5046 the man 376 of God 430. And he said 559, “Go 1980, sell 4376 the oil 8081 and pay 7999a your debt 5386, and you [and] your sons 1121 can live 2421a on the rest 3498.”

 4:8 ¶ Now there came 1961 a day 3117 when Elisha 477 passed 5674a over 5674a to Shunem 7766, where 8033 there was a prominent 1419 woman 802, and she persuaded 2388 him to eat 398 food 3899. And so it was, as often 1767 as he passed 5674a by, he turned 5493 in there 8033 to eat 398 food 3899.

 4:9 She said 559 to her husband 376, “Behold 2009 now 4994, I perceive 3045 that this 1931 is a holy 6918 man 376 of God 430 passing 5674a by us continually 8548.

 4:10 “Please 4994, let us make 6213a a little 6996a walled 7023 upper 5944 chamber 5944 and let us set 7760 a bed 4296 for him there 8033, and a table 7979 and a chair 3678 and a lampstand 4501; and it shall be, when he comes 935 to us, [that] he can turn 5493 in there 8033.”

 4:11 ¶ One day 3117 he came 935 there 8033 and turned 5493 in to the upper 5944 chamber 5944 and rested 7901 8033.

 4:12 Then he said 559 to Gehazi 1522 his servant 5288, “Call 7121 this 2088 Shunammite 7767.” And when he had called 7121 her, she stood 5975 before 6440 him.

 4:13 He said 559 to him, “Say 559 now 4994 to her, ‘Behold 2009, you have been 2729 careful 2729 for us with all 3605 this 2088 care 2731; what 4100 can I do 6213a for you? Would 3426 you be spoken 1696 for to the king 4428 or 176 to the captain 8269 of the army 6635?’” And she answered 559, “I live 3427 among 8432 my own people 5971b.”

 4:14 So he said 559, “What 4100 then is to be done 6213a for her?” And Gehazi 1522 answered 559, “Truly 61 she has 369 no 369 son 1121 and her husband 376 is old 2204.”

 4:15 He said 559, “Call 7121 her.” When he had called 7121 her, she stood 5975 in the doorway 6607.

 4:16 Then he said 559, “At this 2088 season 4150 next 2416a year 6256 you will embrace 2263 a son 1121.” And she said 559, “No 408, my lord 113, O man 376 of God 430, do not lie 3576 to your maidservant 8198.”

 4:17 ¶ The woman 802 conceived 2029 and bore 3205 a son 1121 at that season 4150 the next 2416a year 6256, as Elisha 477 had said 1696 to her.

 4:18 ¶ When the child 3206 was grown 1431, the day 3117 came 1961 that he went 3318 out to his father 1 to the reapers 7114b.

 4:19 He said 559 to his father 1, “My head 7218, my head 7218.” And he said 559 to his servant 5288, “Carry 5375 him to his mother 517.”

 4:20 When he had taken 5375 him and brought 935 him to his mother 517, he sat 3427 on her lap 1290 until 5704 noon 6672a, and [then] died 4191.

 4:21 She went 5927 up and laid 7901 him on the bed 4296 of the man 376 of God 430, and shut 5462 [the door] behind 1157 him and went 3318 out.

 4:22 Then she called 7121 to her husband 376 and said 559, “Please 4994 send 7971 me one 259 of the servants 5288 and one 259 of the donkeys 860, that I may run 7323 to the man 376 of God 430 and return 7725.”

 4:23 He said 559, “Why 4069 will you go 1980 to him today 3117? It is neither 3808 new 2320 moon 2320 nor 3808 sabbath 7676.” And she said 559, “[It will be] well 7965.”

 4:24 Then she saddled 2280 a donkey 860 and said 559 to her servant 5288, “Drive 5090a and go 1980 forward; do not slow 6113 down 6113 the pace 7392 for me unless 3588 518 I tell 559 you.”

 4:25 So she went 1980 and came 935 to the man 376 of God 430 to Mount 2022 Carmel 3760. ¶ When the man 376 of God 430 saw 7200 her at a distance 4480 5048, he said 559 to Gehazi 1522 his servant 5288, “Behold 2009, there 1975 is the Shunammite 7767.

 4:26 “Please 4994 run 7323 now 6258 to meet 7122 her and say 559 to her, ‘Is it well 7965 with you? Is it well 7965 with your husband 376? Is it well 7965 with the child 3206?’” And she answered 559, “It is well 7965.”

 4:27 When she came 935 to the man 376 of God 430 to the hill 2022, she caught 2388 hold 2388 of his feet 7272. And Gehazi 1522 came 5066 near 5066 to push 1920 her away 1920; but the man 376 of God 430 said 559, “Let 7503 her alone 7503, for her soul 5315 is troubled 4843 within her; and the LORD 3068 has hidden 5956 it from me and has not told 5046 me.”

 4:28 Then she said 559, “Did I ask 7592 for a son 1121 from my lord 113? Did I not say 559, ‘Do not deceive 7951 me’?”

 4:29 ¶ Then he said 559 to Gehazi 1522, “Gird 2296 up your loins 4975 and take 3947 my staff 4938b in your hand 3027, and go 1980 your way; if 3588 you meet 4672 any 376 man 376, do not salute 1288 him, and if 3588 anyone 376 salutes 1288 you, do not answer 6030a him; and lay 7760 my staff 4938b on the lad’s 5288 face 6440.”

 4:30 The mother 517 of the lad 5288 said 559, “As the LORD 3068 lives 2416a and as you yourself 5315 live 2416a, I will not leave 5800a you.” And he arose 6965 and followed 1980 310 her.

 4:31 Then Gehazi 1522 passed 5674a on before 6440 them and laid 7760 the staff 4938b on the lad’s 5288 face 6440, but there 369 was no 369 sound 6963 or 369 response 7182. So he returned 7725 to meet 7122 him and told 5046 him, “The lad 5288 has not awakened 7019a.”

 4:32 ¶ When Elisha 477 came 935 into the house 1004, behold 2009 the lad 5288 was dead 4191 and laid 7901 on his bed 4296.

 4:33 So he entered 935 and shut 5462 the door 1817 behind 1157 them both 8147 and prayed 6419 to the LORD 3068.

 4:34 And he went 5927 up and lay 7901 on the child 3206, and put 7760 his mouth 6310 on his mouth 6310 and his eyes 5869 on his eyes 5869 and his hands 3709 on his hands 3709, and he stretched 1457 himself on him; and the flesh 1320 of the child 3206 became 2552 warm 2552.

 4:35 Then he returned 7725 and walked 1980 in the house 1004 once 259 back 2008 and forth 2008, and went 5927 up and stretched 1457 himself on him; and the lad 5288 sneezed 2237 seven 7651 times 6471 and the lad 5288 opened 6491b his eyes 5869.

 4:36 He called 7121 Gehazi 1522 and said 559, “Call 7121 this 2088 Shunammite 7767.” So he called 7121 her. And when she came 935 in to him, he said 559, “Take 5375 up your son 1121.”

 4:37 Then she went 935 in and fell 5307 at his feet 7272 and bowed 7812 herself to the ground 776, and she took 5375 up her son 1121 and went 3318 out.

 4:38 ¶ When Elisha 477 returned 7725 to Gilgal 1537, [there was] a famine 7458 in the land 776. As the sons 1121 of the prophets 5030 were sitting 3427 before 6440 him, he said 559 to his servant 5288, “Put 8239 on the large 1419 pot 5518a and boil 1310 stew 5138 for the sons 1121 of the prophets 5030.”

 4:39 Then one 259 went 3318 out into the field 7704 to gather 3950 herbs 219b, and found 4672 a wild 7704 vine 1612 and gathered 3950 from it his lap 899b full 4393 of wild 7704 gourds 6498, and came 935 and sliced 6398 them into the pot 5518a of stew 5138, for they did not know 3045 [what they were].

 4:40 So they poured 3332 [it] out for the men 376 to eat 398. And as they were eating 398 of the stew 5138, they cried 6817 out and said 559, “O man 376 of God 430, there is death 4194 in the pot 5518a.” And they were unable 3808 3201 to eat 398.

 4:41 But he said 559, “Now bring 3947 meal 7058.” He threw 7993 it into the pot 5518a and said 559, “Pour 3332 [it] out for the people 5971a that they may eat 398.” Then there was no 3808 harm 1697 7451a in the pot 5518a.

 4:42 ¶ Now a man 376 came 935 from Baal-shalishah 1190, and brought 935 the man 376 of God 430 bread 3899 of the first 1061 fruits 1061, twenty 6242 loaves 3899 of barley 8184 and fresh 3759 ears 3759 of grain 3759 in his sack 6861. And he said 559, “Give 5414 [them] to the people 5971a that they may eat 398.”

 4:43 His attendant 8334 said 559, “What 4100, will I set 5414 this 2088 before 6440 a hundred 3967 men 376?” But he said 559, “Give 5414 [them] to the people 5971a that they may eat 398, for thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘They shall eat 398 and have [some] left 3498 over 3498.’”

 4:44 So he set 5414 [it] before 6440 them, and they ate 398 and had [some] left 3498 over 3498, according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068.
