Deuteronomy 25

1 Stripes must not exceed forty. 4 The ox is not to be muzzled. 5 Of raising seed unto a brother. 11 Of the immodest woman. 13 Of unjust weights. 17 The memory of Amalek is to be blotted out.

 25:1 “If 3588 there is a dispute 7379 between 996 men 376 and they go 5066 to court 4941, and the judges 8199 decide 8199 their case, and they justify 6663 the righteous 6662 and condemn 7561 the wicked 7563,

 25:2 then it shall be if 518 the wicked 7563 man 7563 deserves 1121 to be beaten 5221, the judge 8199 shall then make him lie 5307 down 5307 and be beaten 5221 in his presence 6440 with the number 4557 of stripes according 1767 to his guilt 7564.

 25:3 “He may beat 5221 him forty 705 times 705 [but] no 3808 more 3254, so 6435 that he does not beat 5221 him with many 7227a more 3254 stripes 4347 than 5921 these 428 and your brother 251 is not degraded 7034 in your eyes 5869.

 25:4 ¶ “You shall not muzzle 2629 the ox 7794 while he is threshing 1758.

 25:5 ¶ “When 3588 brothers 251 live 3427 together 3164a and one 259 of them dies 4191 and has 369 no 369 son 1121, the wife 802 of the deceased 4191 shall not be [married] outside 2351 [the family] to a strange 2114a man 376. Her husband’s 2993 brother 2993 shall go 935 in to her and take 3947 her to himself as wife 802 and perform 2992 the duty 2992 of a husband’s 2992 brother 2992 to her.

 25:6 “It shall be that the firstborn 1060 whom 834 she bears 3205 shall assume 6965 the name 8034 of his dead 4191 brother 251, so that his name 8034 will not be blotted 4229a out from Israel 3478.

 25:7 “But if 518 the man 376 does not desire 2654a to take 3947 his brother’s 2994 wife 2994, then his brother’s 2994 wife 2994 shall go 5927 up to the gate 8179 to the elders 2205 and say 559, ‘My husband’s 2993 brother 2993 refuses 3985 to establish 6965 a name 8034 for his brother 251 in Israel 3478; he is not willing 14 to perform 2992 the duty 2992 of a husband’s 2992 brother 2992 to me.’

 25:8 “Then the elders 2205 of his city 5892b shall summon 7121 him and speak 1696 to him. And [if] he persists 5975 and says 559, ‘I do not desire 2654a to take 3947 her,’

 25:9 then his brother’s 251 wife 2994 shall come 5066 to him in the sight 5869 of the elders 2205, and pull 2502a his sandal 5275 off 4480 5921 his foot 7272 and spit 3417 in his face 6440; and she shall declare 6030a 559, ‘Thus 3602 it is done 6213a to the man 376 who 834 does not build 1129 up his brother’s 251 house 1004.’

 25:10 “In Israel 3478 his name 8034 shall be called 7121, ‘The house 1004 of him whose sandal 5275 is removed 2502a.’

 25:11 ¶ “If 3588 [two] men 376, a man 376 and his countryman 251, are struggling 5327b together 3164a, and the wife 802 of one 259 comes 7126 near 7126 to deliver 5337 her husband 376 from the hand 3027 of the one who is striking 5221 him, and puts 7971 out her hand 3027 and seizes 2388 his genitals 4016,

 25:12 then you shall cut 7112 off 7112 her hand 3709; you shall not show 2347 pity 2347.

 25:13 ¶ “You shall not have 1961 in your bag 3599 differing 68 weights 68, a large 1419 and a small 6996a.

 25:14 “You shall not have 1961 in your house 1004 differing 374 measures 374, a large 1419 and a small 6996a.

 25:15 “You shall have 1961 a full 8003 and just 6664 weight 68; you shall have 1961 a full 8003 and just 6664 measure 374, that your days 3117 may be prolonged 748 in the land 127 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 gives 5414 you.

 25:16 “For everyone 3605 who 834 does 6213a these 428 things 428, everyone 3605 who acts 6213a unjustly 5766 is an abomination 8441 to the LORD 3068 your God 430.

 25:17 ¶ “Remember 2142 what 834 Amalek 6002 did 6213a to you along the way 1870 when you came 3318 out from Egypt 4714,

 25:18 how 834 he met 7136a you along the way 1870 and attacked 2179 among you all 3605 the stragglers 2826 at your rear 310 when you were faint 5889 and weary 3023; and he did not fear 3372a God 430.

 25:19 “Therefore it shall come 1961 about when the LORD 3068 your God 430 has given 5117 you rest 5117 from all 3605 your surrounding 5439 enemies 340, in the land 776 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 gives 5414 you as an inheritance 5159 to possess 3423, you shall blot 4229a out the memory 2143 of Amalek 6002 from under 8478 heaven 8064; you must not forget 7911.
