 3:1 ¶ Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? or need we, as do some, epistles of commendation to you or from you?

 3:1 ¶ Do we beginºº againº to commendºº ourselves?º orº needº we,ºº asº someº [others], epistlesº of commendationº toº you,º orº [letters] of commendationº fromº you?º

 3:2 Ye are our epistle, written in our hearts, known and read of all men;

 3:2 Yeº areºº ourº epistleº writtenºº inº ourº hearts,º knownºº andº readºº ofº allº men:º

 3:3 being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in tables [that are] hearts of flesh.

 3:3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declaredºº toº beºº the epistleº of Christº ministeredºº byº us,º writtenºº notº with ink,º butº with the Spiritº of the livingºº God;º notº inº tablesº of stone,º butº inº fleshyº tablesº of the heart.º

 3:4 And such confidence have we through Christ to God-ward:

 3:4 Andº suchº trustº haveº weºº throughº Christº toº God-ward:º

 3:5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God;

 3:5 Notº thatº we areºº sufficientº ofº ourselvesº to thinkºº any thingº asº ofº ourselves;º butº ourº sufficiencyº [is] ofº God;º

 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

 3:6 Whoº alsoº hath madeºº usº ableººº ministersº of the newº testament;º notº of the letter,º butº of the spirit:º forº theº letterº killeth,ºº butº theº spiritº giveth life.ººº

 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written, [and] engraven on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look stedfastly upon the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which [glory] was passing away:

 3:7 Butº ifº theº ministrationº of death,º writtenºº [and] engravenºº inº stones,º wasºº glorious,ºº soº thatº theº childrenº of Israelº couldºº notº stedfastlyº beholdººº theº faceºº of Mosesº forº theº gloryº of hisº countenance;º whichº [glory] was to be done away:ºº

 3:8 how shall not rather the ministration of the spirit be with glory?

 3:8 Howº shallºº notº theº ministrationº of theº spiritº beºº ratherºº glorious?ºº

 3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation hath glory, much rather doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

 3:9 Forº ifº theº ministrationº of condemnationº [be] glory,º muchº moreº doth theº ministrationº of righteousnessº exceedºº inº glory.º

 3:10 For verily that which hath been made glorious hath not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasseth.

 3:10 Forº evenº that which was made gloriousºº had noº gloryººº inº thisº respect,º by reasonº ofº theº gloryº that excelleth.ºº

 3:11 For if that which passeth away [was] with glory, much more that which remaineth [is] in glory.

 3:11 Forº ifº that which is done awayºº [was] glorious,ºº muchº moreº that which remainethºº [is] glorious.ºº

 3:12 Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech,

 3:12 Seeing thenº that we haveºº suchº hope,º we useºº greatº plainness of speech:º

 3:13 and [are] not as Moses, [who] put a veil upon his face, that the children of Israel should not look stedfastly on the end of that which was passing away:

 3:13 Andº notº asº Moses,º [which] putºº a vailº overº hisº face,º thatº theº childrenº of Israelº couldºº notº stedfastly lookºº toº theº endº of that which is abolished:ºº

 3:14 but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth, it not being revealed [to them] that it is done away in Christ.

 3:14 Butº theirº mindsº were blinded:ºº forº untilº this dayº remainethºº theº sameº vailº untakenº awayººº inº theº readingº of theº oldº testament;º whichº [vail] is done awayºº inº Christ.º

 3:15 But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart.

 3:15 Butº evenº untoº this day,º whenº Mosesº is read,ºº the vailº isº uponººº theirº heart.º

 3:16 But whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

 3:16 Neverthelessº whenºº itº shall turnºº toº the Lord,º theº vailº shall be taken away.ºº

 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, [there] is liberty.

 3:17 Nowº theº Lordº isºº that Spirit:º andº whereº theº Spiritº of the Lordº [is], thereº [is] liberty.º

 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.

 3:18 Butº weº all,º with openºº faceº beholding as in a glassºº theº gloryº of the Lord,º are changedºº into theº sameº imageº fromº gloryº toº glory,º [even] asº byº the Spiritº of the Lord.º
