 2:1 ¶ Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.

 2:1 ¶ Thenº fourteenº yearsº afterº I went upºº againº toº Jerusalemº withº Barnabas,º and tookºº Titusº withºº [me]ºº also.º

 2:2 And I went up by revelation; and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles but privately before them who were of repute, lest by any means I should be running, or had run, in vain.

 2:2 Andº I went upºº byº revelation,º andº communicatedºº unto themº that gospelº whichº I preachºº amongº theº Gentiles,º butº privatelyºº to them which were of reputation,ºº lest by any meansºº I should run,ºº orº had run,ºº inº vain.º

 2:3 But not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

 2:3 Butº neitherº Titus,º whoº was withº me,º beingºº a Greek,º was compelledººº to be circumcised:ºº

 2:4 and that because of the false brethren privily brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

 2:4 Andº that becauseº ofº false brethrenº unawares brought in,º whoº came in privilyºº to spy outºº ourº libertyº whichº we haveºº inº Christº Jesus,º thatº they might bringºº usº into bondage:ººº

 2:5 to whom we gave place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

 2:5 To whomº we gave placeºº by subjection,º no, notº forº an hour;º thatº theº truthº of theº gospelº might continueºº withº you.º

 2:6 But from those who were reputed to be somewhat (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth not man's person) -- they, I say, who were of repute imparted nothing to me:

 2:6 Butº ofº theseº who seemedºº to beºº somewhat,º (whatsoeverºº they were,ºº it makethºº noº matterººº to me:º Godº acceptethºº noº man'sº person:)º forº they who seemedºº [to be somewhat] in conference addedºº nothingº to me:º

 2:7 but contrariwise, when they saw that I had been intrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, even as Peter with [the gospel] of the circumcision

 2:7 Butº contrariwise,º when they sawºº thatº theº gospelº of theº uncircumcisionº was committedº unto me,ºº asº [the gospel] of theº circumcisionº [was] unto Peter;º

 2:8 (for he that wrought for Peter unto the apostleship of the circumcision wrought for me also unto the Gentiles);

 2:8 (Forº he that wrought effectuallyºº in Peterº toº the apostleshipº of theº circumcision,º the sameº was mightyºº inº meº towardº theº Gentiles:)º

 2:9 and when they perceived the grace that was given unto me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision;

 2:9 Andº when James,ºº Cephas,º andº John,º whoº seemedºº to beºº pillars,º perceivedºº theº graceº that was givenºº unto me,º they gaveºº to meº andº Barnabasº the right handsº of fellowship;º thatº weº [should go] untoº theº heathen,º andº theyº untoº theº circumcision.º

 2:10 only [they would] that we should remember the poor; which very thing I was also zealous to do.

 2:10 Onlyº [they would] thatº we should rememberºº theº poor;º the sameºº whichº Iºº alsoº was forwardºº to do.ºº

 2:11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned.

 2:11 Butº whenº Peterº was comeºº toº Antioch,º I withstoodºº himº toº the face,º becauseº he wasºº to be blamed.ºº

 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing them that were of the circumcision.

 2:12 Forº beforeº that certainº cameºº fromº James,º he did eatºº withº theº Gentiles:º butº whenº they were come,ºº he withdrewºº andº separatedºº himself,º fearingºº themº which were ofº the circumcision.º

 2:13 And the rest of the Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulation.

 2:13 Andº theº otherº Jewsº dissembledºº likewiseº withºº him;º insomuchº thatº Barnabasº alsoº was carried awayºº withº theirº dissimulation.º

 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Cephas before [them] all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as do the Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, how compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

 2:14 Butº whenº I sawºº thatº they walkedºº notº uprightlyººº accordingº toº theº truthº of theº gospel,º I saidºº unto Peterº beforeº [them] all,º Ifº thou,º beingºº a Jew,º livestºº after the manner of Gentiles,º andº notº as do the Jews,º whyº compellestº thouºº theº Gentilesº to live as do the Jews?ºº

 2:15 We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

 2:15 Weº [who are] Jewsº by nature,º andº notº sinnersº ofº the Gentiles,º

 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

 2:16 Knowingººº thatº a manº isºº notº justifiedºº byº the worksº of the law,º butº byº the faithº of Jesusº Christ,º evenº weº have believedºº inº Jesusº Christ,º thatº we might be justifiedºº byº the faithº of Christ,º andº notº byº the worksº of the law:º forº byº the worksº of the lawº shallºº noºº fleshº be justified.ºº

 2:17 But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a minister of sin? God forbid.

 2:17 Butº if,º while we seekºº to be justifiedºº byº Christ,º weººº ourselvesº alsoº are foundºº sinners,º [is] thereforeº Christº the ministerº of sin?º God forbid.ººº

 2:18 For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressor.

 2:18 Forº ifº I buildºº againº the thingsº whichº I destroyed,ºº I makeºº myselfº a transgressor.º

 2:19 For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.

 2:19 Forº Iº throughº the lawº am deadºº to the law,º thatº I might liveºº unto God.º

 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that [life] which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, [the faith] which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

 2:20 I am crucifiedºº withº Christ:º neverthelessº I live;ºº yet notº I,º butº Christº livethºº inº me:º andº the life whichº Iºº nowº liveºº inº the fleshº I liveºº byº the faithº ofº theº Sonº of God,º whoº lovedºº me,º andº gaveºº himselfº forº me.º

 2:21 I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought.

 2:21 I doºº notº frustrateºº theº graceº of God:º forº ifº righteousnessº [come] byº the law,º thenº Christº is deadºº in vain.º
