 10:1 ¶ And he arose from thence and cometh into the borders of Judaea and beyond the Jordan: and multitudes come together unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

 10:1 ¶ Andºº he aroseºº from thence,ºº and comethºº intoº theº coastsº of Judaeaº byº theº farther sideº of Jordan:º andº the peopleº resortºº untoº himº again;º and,º asº he was wont,ºº he taughtºº themº again.º

 10:2 ¶ And there came unto him Pharisees, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away [his] wife? trying him.

 10:2 ¶ Andº theº Phariseesº came toº him,ºº and askedºº him,ºº Is itº lawfulºº for a manº to put awayºº [his] wife?º temptingºº him.º

 10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

 10:3 Andº heº answeredºº and saidºº unto them,º Whatº did Mosesº commandºº you?º

 10:4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

 10:4 Andº theyº said,ºº Mosesº sufferedºº to writeºº a billº of divorcement,º andº to put [her] away.ºº

 10:5 But Jesus said unto them, For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.

 10:5 Andº Jesusº answeredºº and saidºº unto them,º Forº theº hardnessºº of yourº heartºº he wroteºº youº thisº precept.º

 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation, Male and female made he them.

 10:6 Butº fromº the beginningº of the creationº Godº madeºº themº maleº andº female.º

 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife;

 10:7 For this causeºº shallºº a manº leaveºº hisºº fatherº andº mother,º andº cleaveºº toº hisºº wife;º

 10:8 and the two shall become one flesh: so that they are no more two, but one flesh.

 10:8 Andº they twainº shall beºº oneºº flesh:º so thenº they areºº no moreº twain,º butº oneº flesh.º

 10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

 10:9 Whatº thereforeº Godº hath joined together,ºº letºº notº manº put asunder.ºº

 10:10 And in the house the disciples asked him again of this matter.

 10:10 Andº inº theº houseº hisº disciplesº askedºº himº againº ofº the sameº [matter].

 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her:

 10:11 Andº he saithºº unto them,º Whosoeverºº shall put awayºº hisºº wife,º andº marryºº another,º committeth adulteryºº againstº her.º

 10:12 and if she herself shall put away her husband, and marry another, she committeth adultery.

 10:12 Andº ifº a womanº shall put awayºº herºº husband,º andº be marriedºº to another,º she committeth adultery.ºº

 10:13 ¶ And they were bringing unto him little children, that he should touch them: and the disciples rebuked them.

 10:13 ¶ Andº they broughtºº young childrenº to him,º thatº he should touchºº them:º andº [his] disciplesº rebukedºº those that broughtºº [them].

 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.

 10:14 Butº when Jesusº sawºº [it], he was much displeased,ºº andº saidºº unto them,º Sufferºº theº little childrenº to comeºº untoº me,º andº forbidºº themº not:º forº of suchº isºº theº kingdomº of God.º

 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.

 10:15 Verilyº I sayºº unto you,º Whosoeverºº shallºº notºº receiveºº theº kingdomº of Godº asº a little child,º he shallºº notº enterºº therein.ºº

 10:16 And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.

 10:16 Andº he tookºº themº up in his arms,ººº putºº [his] handsº uponº them,º and blessedºº them.º

 10:17 ¶ And as he was going forth into the way, there ran one to him, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

 10:17 ¶ Andº when heº was gone forthºº intoº the way,ºº there cameºº oneº running,ºº andº kneeledºº to him,º and askedºº him,º Goodº Master,º whatº shall I doºº thatº I may inheritºº eternalº life?º

 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good save one, [even] God.

 10:18 Andº Jesusº saidºº unto him,º Whyº callestº thouºº meº good?º [there is] noneº goodº butº one,º [that is], God.º

 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and mother.

 10:19 Thou knowestºº theº commandments,º Doºº notº commit adultery,ºº Doºº notº kill,ºº Doºº notº steal,ºº Doºº notº bear false witness,ºº Defraudºº not,º Honourºº thyº fatherº andº mother.º

 10:20 And he said unto him, Teacher, all these things have I observed from my youth.

 10:20 Andº heº answeredºº and saidºº unto him,º Master,º allº theseº have I observedºº fromº myº youth.º

 10:21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

 10:21 Thenº Jesusº beholdingºº himº lovedºº him,º andº saidºº unto him,º One thingº thouº lackest:ºº go thy way,ºº sellºº whatsoeverº thou hast,ºº andº giveºº to theº poor,º andº thou shalt haveºº treasureº inº heaven:º andº come,ºº take upºº theº cross,º and followºº me.º

 10:22 But his countenance fell at the saying, and he went away sorrowful: for he was one that had great possessions.

 10:22 Andº heº was sadºº atº that saying,º and went awayºº grieved:ºº forº he hadºººº greatº possessions.º

 10:23 ¶ And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

 10:23 ¶ Andº Jesusº looked round about,ºº and saithºº unto hisºº disciples,º Howº hardlyº shall they that haveºº richesº enterºº intoº theº kingdomº of God!º

 10:24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

 10:24 Andº theº disciplesº were astonishedºº atº hisº words.º Butº Jesusº answerethºº again,º and saithºº unto them,º Children,º howº hardº isº itºº for them that trustºº inº richesº to enterºº intoº theº kingdomº of God!º

 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

 10:25 It isºº easierº for a camelº to goºººº throughº theº eyeº of a needle,º thanº for a rich manº to enterºº intoº theº kingdomº of God.º

 10:26 And they were astonished exceedingly, saying unto him, Then who can be saved?

 10:26 Andº theyº were astonishedºº out of measure,º sayingºº amongº themselves,ºº Whoº thenº canºº be saved?ºº

 10:27 Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.

 10:27 Andº Jesusº looking uponºº themº saith,ºº Withº menº [it is] impossible,º butº notº withº God:º forº withº Godº all thingsº areºº possible.º

 10:28 ¶ Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

 10:28 ¶ Thenº Peterº beganºº to sayºº unto him,º Lo,ºº weº have leftºº all,º andº have followedºº thee.º

 10:29 Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the gospel's sake,

 10:29 Andº Jesusº answeredºº and said,ºº Verilyº I sayºº unto you,º There isºº no manº thatº hath leftºº house,º orº brethren,º orº sisters,º orº father,º orº mother,º orº wife,º orº children,º orº lands,º for myº sake,ºº andº theº gospel's,º

 10:30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

 10:30 Butººº he shall receiveºº an hundredfoldº nowº inº thisº time,º houses,º andº brethren,º andº sisters,º andº mothers,º andº children,º andº lands,º withº persecutions;º andº inº theº worldº to comeºº eternalº life.º

 10:31 But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last first.

 10:31 Butº manyº [that are] firstº shall beºº last;º andº theº lastº first.º

 10:32 ¶ And they were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them: and they were amazed; and they that followed were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were to happen unto him,

 10:32 ¶ Andº they wereºº inº theº wayº going upºº toº Jerusalem;º andº Jesusº wentºº beforeººº them:º andº they were amazed;ºº andº as they followed,ºº they were afraid.ºº Andº he tookºº againº theº twelve,º and beganºº to tellºº themº what things shouldºº happenºº unto him,º

 10:33 [saying], Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles:

 10:33 [Saying],º Behold,ºº we go upºº toº Jerusalem;º andº theº Sonºº of manº shall be deliveredºº unto theº chief priests,º andº unto theº scribes;º andº they shall condemnºº himº to death,º andº shall deliverºº himº to theº Gentiles:º

 10:34 and they shall mock him, and shall spit upon him, and shall scourge him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again.

 10:34 Andº they shall mockºº him,º andº shall scourgeºº him,º andº shall spit uponºº him,º andº shall killºº him:º andº theº thirdº dayº he shall rise again.ºº

 10:35 ¶ And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.

 10:35 ¶ Andº Jamesº andº John,º theº sonsº of Zebedee,º comeºº unto him,º saying,ºº Master,º we wouldºº thatº thou shouldest doºº for usº whatsoeverºº we shall desire.ºº

 10:36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

 10:36 Andº heº saidºº unto them,º Whatº wouldºº ye that Iº should doºº for you?º

 10:37 And they said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on [thy] left hand, in thy glory.

 10:37 º Theyº saidºº unto him,º Grantºº unto usº thatº we may sit,ºº oneº onº thyº right hand,º andº the otherº onº thyº left hand,º inº thyº glory.º

 10:38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

 10:38 Butº Jesusº saidºº unto them,º Ye knowºº notº whatº ye ask:ºº canº yeºº drinkºº of theº cupº thatº Iº drinkº of?ºº andº be baptizedºº with theº baptismº thatº Iº am baptizedº with?ºº

 10:39 And they said unto him, We are able. And Jesus said unto them, The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

 10:39 Andº theyº saidºº unto him,º We can.ºº Andº Jesusº saidºº unto them,º Ye shallºº indeedº drinkºº of theº cupº thatº Iº drinkº of;ºº andº with theº baptismº thatº Iº am baptizedº withalºº shall ye be baptized:ºº

 10:40 but to sit on my right hand or on [my] left hand is not mine to give; but [it is for them] for whom it hath been prepared.

 10:40 Butº to sitºº onº myº right handº andº onº myº left handº isºº notº mineº to give;ºº butº [it shall be given to them] for whomº it is prepared.ºº

 10:41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation concerning James and John.

 10:41 Andº when theº tenº heardºº [it], they beganºº to be much displeasedºº withº Jamesº andº John.º

 10:42 And Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them.

 10:42 Butº Jesusº calledºº themº [to him], and saithºº unto them,º Ye knowºº thatº they which are accountedºº to ruleºº overº theº Gentilesº exercise lordshipºº over them;º andº theirº great onesº exercise authorityºº upon them.º

 10:43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever would become great among you, shall be your minister;

 10:43 Butº soº shall itºº notº beºº amongº you:º butº whosoeverºº willºº beºº greatº amongº you,º shall beºº yourº minister:º

 10:44 and whosoever would be first among you, shall be servant of all.

 10:44 Andº whosoeverºº of youº willºº beºº the chiefest,º shall beºº servantº of all.º

 10:45 For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

 10:45 Forº evenº theº Sonº of manº cameºº notº to be ministered unto,ºº butº to minister,ºº andº to giveºº hisºº lifeº a ransomº forº many.º

 10:46 ¶ And they come to Jericho: and as he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the way side.

 10:46 ¶ Andº they cameºº toº Jericho:º andº as heº wentºº out ofº Jerichoº withº hisº disciplesº andº a greatº numberº of people,º blindº Bartimaeus,º the sonº of Timaeus,º satºº byº theº highway sideº begging.ºº

 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

 10:47 Andº when he heardºº thatº it wasºº Jesusº of Nazareth,º he beganºº to cry out,ºº andº say,ºº Jesus,º [thou] Sonº of David,º have mercyºº on me.º

 10:48 And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

 10:48 Andº manyº chargedºº himº thatº he should hold his peace:ºº butº heº criedºº the moreºº a great deal,ºº [Thou] Sonº of David,º have mercyºº on me.º

 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee.

 10:49 Andº Jesusº stood still,ºº and commandedºº himº to be called.ºº Andº they callºº theº blind man,º sayingºº unto him,º Be of good comfort,ºº rise;ºº he callethºº thee.º

 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, sprang up, and came to Jesus.

 10:50 Andº he,º casting awayºº hisºº garment,º rose,ºº and cameºº toº Jesus.º

 10:51 And Jesus answered him, and said, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.

 10:51 Andº Jesusº answeredºº and saidºº unto him,º Whatº wiltºº thou that I should doºº unto thee?ºº Theº blind manº saidºº unto him,º Lord,º thatº I might receive my sight.ºº

 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And straightway he received his sight, and followed him in the way.

 10:52 Andº Jesusº saidºº unto him,º Go thy way;ºº thyº faithº hath madeºº theeº whole.ººº Andº immediatelyº he received his sight,ºº andº followedºº Jesusº inº theº way.º
