 2:1 ¶ Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things.

 2:1 ¶ Thereforeº thou artºº inexcusable,º Oº man,º whosoeverº thou art that judgest:ºº forº whereinºº thou judgestºº another,º thou condemnestºº thyself;º forº thou that judgestºº doestºº theº same things.º

 2:2 And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things.

 2:2 Butº we are sureºº thatº theº judgmentº of Godº isºº accordingº to truthº againstº them which commitºº such things.º

 2:3 And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

 2:3 Andº thinkestº thouºº this,º Oº man,º that judgestºº them which doºº such things,º andº doestºº the same,º thatº thouº shalt escapeºº theº judgmentº of God?º

 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

 2:4 Orº despisestº thouºº theº richesº of hisºº goodnessº andº forbearanceº andº longsuffering;º not knowingºº thatº theº goodnessº of Godº leadethºº theeº toº repentance?º

 2:5 but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

 2:5 Butº afterº thyº hardnessº andº impenitentº heartº treasurest upºº unto thyselfº wrathº againstº the dayº of wrathº andº revelationº of the righteous judgmentº of God;º

 2:6 who will render to every man according to his works:

 2:6 Whoº will renderºº to every manº accordingº to hisº deeds:º

 2:7 to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:

 2:7 To them whoº byºº patient continuanceº in wellº doingº seekºº forº gloryº andº honourº andº immortality,º eternalº life:º

 2:8 but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, [shall be] wrath and indignation,

 2:8 Butº unto them that are contentious,ºº andº do not obeyººº theº truth,º butº obeyºº unrighteousness,º indignationº andº wrath,º

 2:9 tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;

 2:9 Tribulationº andº anguish,º uponº everyº soulº of manº that doethºº evil,º of theº Jewº first,º andºº alsoº of the Gentile;º

 2:10 but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:

 2:10 Butºº glory,º honour,º andº peace,º to every manº that workethºº good,º to theº Jewº first,º andºº alsoº to the Gentile:º

 2:11 for there is no respect of persons with God.

 2:11 Forº there isºº noº respect of personsº withº God.º

 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law;

 2:12 Forº as many asº have sinnedºº without lawº shallºº alsoº perishºº without law:º andº as many asº have sinnedºº inº the lawº shall be judgedºº byº the law;º

 2:13 for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified:

 2:13 (Forº notº theº hearersº of theº lawº [are] justº beforeº God,º butº theº doersº of theº lawº shall be justified.ºº

 2:14 (for when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law unto themselves;

 2:14 Forº whenº the Gentiles,º whichº haveºº notº the law,º doºº by natureº the thingsº contained in theº law,º these,º havingºº notº the law,º areºº a lawº unto themselves:º

 2:15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing [them]);

 2:15 Whichº shewºº theº workº of theº lawº writtenº inº theirºº hearts,º theirºº conscienceº also bearing witness,ºº andº [their] thoughtsº the mean while accusingºº orº elseº excusingºº one another;)ºº

 2:16 in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.

 2:16 Inº the dayº whenº Godº shall judgeººº theº secretsº of menº byº Jesusº Christº accordingº to myº gospel.º

 2:17 But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,

 2:17 Behold,º thouº art calledºº a Jew,º andº restestºº inº theº law,º andº makest thy boastºº ofº God,º

 2:18 and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

 2:18 Andº knowestºº [his] will,º andº approvestºº the things that are more excellent,ºº being instructedºº out ofº theº law;º

 2:19 and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,

 2:19 Andº art confidentºº that thou thyselfº artºº a guideº of the blind,º a lightº of themº which are inº darkness,º

 2:20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;

 2:20 An instructorº of the foolish,º a teacherº of babes,º which hastºº theº formº of knowledgeº andº of theº truthº inº theº law.º

 2:21 thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

 2:21 Thou thereforeº whichº teachestººº another,º teachestº thouºº notº thyself?º thou that preachestºº a man shouldºº notº steal,ºº dost thou steal?ºº

 2:22 thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?

 2:22 Thou that sayestºº a man shouldºº notº commit adultery,ºº dost thou commit adultery?ºº thou that abhorrestºº idols,º dost thou commit sacrilege?ºº

 2:23 thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God?

 2:23 Thouº thatº makest thy boastºº ofº the law,º throughº breakingº theº lawº dishonourestº thouºº God?º

 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written.

 2:24 Forº theº nameº of Godº is blasphemedºº amongº theº Gentilesº throughº you,º asº it is written.ºº

 2:25 For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.

 2:25 Forº circumcisionº verilyº profiteth,ºº ifº thou keepºº the law:º butº ifº thou beºº a breakerº of the law,º thyº circumcisionº is madeºº uncircumcision.º

 2:26 If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?

 2:26 Thereforeº ifº theº uncircumcisionº keepºº theº righteousnessº of theº law,º shallºº notº hisºº uncircumcisionº be countedºº forº circumcision?º

 2:27 and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?

 2:27 Andº shall notºº uncircumcisionº which is byº nature,º if it fulfilºº theº law,º judgeºº thee,º who byº the letterº andº circumcisionº dost transgressº the law?º

 2:28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:

 2:28 Forº he isºº notº a Jew,º which is one outwardly;ºº neitherº [is that] circumcision,º which is outwardºº inº the flesh:º

 2:29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

 2:29 Butº he [is] a Jew,º which is one inwardly;ºº andº circumcisionº [is that] of the heart,º inº the spirit,º [and] notº in the letter;º whoseº praiseº [is] notº ofº men,º butº ofº God.º
