And it came to pass,°
when
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
had established°°
the kingdom,°
and had strengthened°°
himself, he forsook°°°
the law°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
with°
him. |

12:1 ¶
And it came to pass, when Rechavam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of Yahweh, and all Yisrael with him. |
|

And it came to pass,°
[that] in the fifth°
year°
of king°
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
Šîšak
שִׁישַׁק°
king°
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם°
came up°°
against°
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
because°
they had transgressed°°
against
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,° |

12:2
And it came to pass, [that] in the fifth year of king Rechavam Shishaq king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalaim, because they had transgressed against Yahweh, |
|

With twelve hundred°°
chariots,°
and threescore°
thousand°
horsemen:°
and the people°
[were] without°
number°
that°
came°°
with°
him out of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם;°°
the
Lûvîm
לוּבִים,°
the
Succiyyîm
סֻכִּיִּים,°
and the
Cûšîm
כּוּשִׁים.° |

With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people [were] without number that came with him out of Mitzrayim; the Luvim, the Sukkiyyim, and the Kushim. |

And he took°°°
the fenced°
cities°
which°
[pertained] to
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and came°°
to°
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

And he took the fenced cities which [pertained] to Yehudah, and came to Yerushalaim. |

12:5 ¶
Then came°°
Šæma`yà
שְׁמַעיָה°
the prophet°
to°
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם,°
and [to] the princes°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
that°
were gathered together°°
to°
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
because°
of°°
Šîšak
שִׁישַׁק,°
and said°°
unto them, Thus°
saith°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
Ye°
have forsaken°°
me, and therefore have I°
also°
left°°
you in the hand°
of
Šîšak
שִׁישַׁק.° |

12:5 ¶
Then came Shemayah the prophet to Rechavam, and [to] the princes of Yehudah, that were gathered together to Yerushalaim because of Shishaq, and said unto them, Thus saith Yahweh, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishaq. |

Whereupon the princes°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
and the king°
humbled°°
themselves;°
and they said,°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
[is] righteous.° |

12:6
Whereupon the princes of Yisrael and the king humbled themselves; and they said, Yahweh [is] righteous. |

12:7
And when
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
saw°°
that°
they humbled°°
themselves,°
the word°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
came°
to°
Šæma`yà
שְׁמַעיָה,°
saying,°°
They have humbled°°
themselves;°
[therefore] I will not°
destroy°°
them, but I will grant°°
them some°
deliverance;°
and my wrath°
shall not°
be poured out°°
upon
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
by the hand°
of
Šîšak
שִׁישַׁק.° |

12:7
And when Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemayah, saying, They have humbled themselves; [therefore] I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Yerushalaim by the hand of Shishaq. |

Nevertheless°
they shall be°
his servants;°
that they may know°°
my service,°
and the service°
of the kingdoms°
of the countries.° |

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries. |

also the shields°
of gold°

שְׁלֹמֹה°

So Shishaq king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalaim, and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Shelomoh had made. |

Instead of°

of brass,°
and committed°°
[them] to°
the hands°
of the chief°
of the guard,°°
that kept°°
the entrance°
of the king's°
house.° |

Instead of which king Rechavam made shields of brass, and committed [them] to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house. |

And when°°
the king°
entered°°
into°°
the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
the guard°°
came°°
and fetched°°
them, and brought them again°°
into°
the guard°°
chamber.° |

And when the king entered into the house of Yahweh, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber. |
|
12:12
And when he humbled°°
himself,°
the wrath°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
turned°°
from°
him, that he would not°
destroy°°
[him] altogether:°
and also°
in
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
things°
went°
well.° |

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of Yahweh turned from him, that he would not destroy [him] altogether: and also in Yehudah things went well. |

[was] one°

the city°
which°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
had chosen°°

the tribes°

his name°

And his mother's°
name°
[was]
Na`ámà
נַעֲמָה°
an
`Ammönîŧ
עַמֹּנִית.°° |

12:13 ¶
So king Rechavam strengthened himself in Yerushalaim, and reigned: for Rechavam [was] one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalaim, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisrael, to put his name there. And his mother's name [was] Naamah an Ammonith. |

And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek Yahweh. |

Now the acts°

[are] they°

in the book°

שְׁמַעיָה°
the prophet,°
and of
`Iddô´
עִדּוֹא°
the seer°
concerning genealogies?°°
And [there were] wars°
between
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
and
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
continually.°° |

Now the acts of Rechavam, first and last, [are] they not written in the book of Shemayah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And [there were] wars between Rechavam and Yorovam continually. |

And

רְחַבעָם°
slept°°
with°
his fathers,°
and was buried°°
in the city°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד:°
and
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
his son°
reigned°°
in his stead.° |

And Rechavam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of Dawid: and Aviyyah his son reigned in his stead. |
