13:1 ¶
Now in the eighteenth year of king Yorovam began Aviyyah to reign over Yehudah. |
|
13:2
He reigned°°
three°
years°
in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.°
His mother's°
name°
also [was]
Mîȼäyà
מִיכָיָה°
the daughter°
of
´Ûrî´ël
אוּרִיאֵל°
of°
Giv`à
גִּבעָה.°
And there was°
war°
between°
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
and
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם.° |

13:2
He reigned three years in Yerushalaim. His mother's name also [was] Mikhayah the daughter of Uriel of Givah. And there was war between Aviyyah and Yorovam. |

13:3
And
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
set°°°
the battle°
in array°°
with an army°
of valiant men°
of war,°
[even] four°
hundred°
thousand°
chosen°°
men:°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
also set the battle°
in array°°°
against°
him with eight°
hundred°
thousand°
chosen°°
men,°
[being] mighty men°
of valour.° |

13:3
And Aviyyah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, [even] four hundred thousand chosen men: Yorovam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, [being] mighty men of valour. |

stood up°°
upon°°
mount°
Xæmärayim
צְמָרַיִם,°
which°
[is] in mount°
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִם,°
and said,°°
Hear°°
me, thou
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם,°
and all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;° |

13:4 ¶
And Aviyyah stood up upon mount Tzemarayim, which [is] in mount Efrayim, and said, Hear me, thou Yorovam, and all Yisrael; |

13:5
Ought ye not°
to know°°
that°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
gave°°
the kingdom°
over°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
to
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
for ever,°
[even] to him and to his sons°
by a covenant°
of salt?° |

13:5
Ought ye not to know that Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael gave the kingdom over Yisrael to Dawid for ever, [even] to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? |
|
13:6
Yet
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
the son°
of
Næväţ
נְבָט,°
the servant°
of
Šælömò
שְׁלֹמֹה°
the son°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
is risen up,°°
and hath rebelled°°
against°
his
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן.° |

13:6
Yet Yorovam the son of Nevat, the servant of Shelomoh the son of Dawid, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his adon. |

13:7
And there are gathered°°
unto°
him vain°
men,°°
the children°
of
Bæliyya`al
בְּלִיַּעַל,°
and have strengthened°°
themselves°
against°
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
the son°
of
Šælömò
שְׁלֹמֹה,°
when
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
was°
young°
and tenderhearted,°°
and could not°
withstand°°°
them.° |

13:7
And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Beliyyaal, and have strengthened themselves against Rechavam the son of Shelomoh, when Rechavam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them. |

And now°
ye°
think°°
to withstand°°
the kingdom°°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
in the hand°
of the sons°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד;°
and ye°
[be] a great°
multitude,°
and [there are] with°
you golden°
calves,°
which°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
made°°
you for
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

13:8
And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of Dawid; and ye [be] a great multitude, and [there are] with you golden calves, which Yorovam made you for elohim. |
|
13:9
Have ye not°
cast out°°°
the priests°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°°
the sons°
of
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,°
and the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם,°
and have made°°
you priests°
after the manner of the nations°
of [other] lands?°
so that whosoever°
cometh°°
to consecrate°°°
himself with a young°°
bullock°
and seven°
rams,°
[the same] may be°
a priest°
of [them that are] no°
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

13:9
Have ye not cast out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aharon, and the Lewiyyim, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of [other] lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, [the same] may be a priest of [them that are] no elohim. |
|
13:10
But as for us,°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
[is] our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
and we have not°
forsaken°°
him; and the priests,°
which minister°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
[are] the sons°
of
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,°
and the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם°
[wait] upon [their] business:° |

But as for us, Yahweh [is] our Elohim, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto Yahweh, [are] the sons of Aharon, and the Lewiyyim [wait] upon [their] business: |

13:11
And they burn°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
every morning°
and every evening°
burnt sacrifices°
and sweet°
incense:°
the shewbread°°
also [set they in order] upon°
the pure°
table;°
and the candlestick°
of gold°
with the lamps°
thereof, to burn°°
every evening:°
for°
we°
keep°°°
the charge°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים;°
but ye°
have forsaken°°
him. |

13:11
And they burn unto Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also [set they in order] upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of Yahweh our Elohim; but ye have forsaken him. |

13:12
And, behold,°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
himself [is] with°
us for [our] captain,°
and his priests°
with sounding°
trumpets°
to cry alarm°°
against°
you. O children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
fight°°
ye not°
against°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of your fathers;°
for°
ye shall not°
prosper.°° |

13:12
And, behold, Elohim himself [is] with us for [our] captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Yisrael, fight ye not against Yahweh Elohim of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper. |

13:13 ¶
But

caused°°
an ambushment°
to come°°
about°°°
behind°°
them: so they were°
before°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and the ambushment°
[was] behind°°
them. |
|
13:13 ¶
But Yorovam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Yehudah, and the ambushment [was] behind them. |
|
13:14
And when
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
looked back,°°
behold,°
the battle°
[was] before°
and behind:°
and they cried°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and the priests°
sounded°°°°
with the trumpets.° |

13:14
And when Yehudah looked back, behold, the battle [was] before and behind: and they cried unto Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. |
|
13:15
Then the men°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
gave a shout:°°
and as the men°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
shouted,°°
it came to pass,°
that
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
smote°°°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
and all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
before°
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
and
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה.° |

13:15
Then the men of Yehudah gave a shout: and as the men of Yehudah shouted, it came to pass, that Elohim smote Yorovam and all Yisrael before Aviyyah and Yehudah. |
|
13:16
And the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
fled°°
before°°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה:°
and
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
delivered°°
them into their hand.° |
|
13:16
And the children of Yisrael fled before Yehudah: and Elohim delivered them into their hand. |
|
13:17
And
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
and his people°
slew°°
them with a great°
slaughter:°
so there fell down°°
slain°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°°
five°
hundred°
thousand°
chosen°°
men.° |

13:17
And Aviyyah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Yisrael five hundred thousand chosen men. |
|
13:18
Thus the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
were brought°°
under°
at that°
time,°
and the children°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
prevailed,°°
because°
they relied°°
upon°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of their fathers.° |

Thus the children of Yisrael were brought under at that time, and the children of Yehudah prevailed, because they relied upon Yahweh Elohim of their fathers. |
|
13:19
And
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
pursued°°
after°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם,°
and took°°
cities°
from°
him,°
Bêŧ ´Ël
בֵּית־אֵל°
with°
the towns°
thereof, and
Yæšänà
יְשָׁנָה°
with°
the towns°
thereof, and
`Efrayin
עֶפרַיִן°
with the towns°
thereof. |

13:19
And Aviyyah pursued after Yorovam, and took cities from him, Beth-El with the towns thereof, and Yeshanah with the towns thereof, and Efrayin with the towns thereof. |
|
13:20
Neither°
did
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
recover°°
strength°
again°
in the days°
of
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
struck°°
him, and he died.°° |
|
13:20
Neither did Yorovam recover strength again in the days of Aviyyah: and Yahweh struck him, and he died. |
|
13:21 ¶
But
´Áviyyà
אֲבִיָּה°
waxed mighty,°°
and married°°
fourteen°°
wives,°
and begat°°
twenty°
and two°
sons,°
and sixteen°°
daughters.° |

13:21 ¶
But Aviyyah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters. |

13:22
And the rest°
of the acts°

and his ways,°
and his sayings,°
[are] written°°
in the story°
of the prophet°
