by them, [even]°
as many°°

Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל] as had not°
known°°°
all°
the wars°
of
Cænä`an
כְּנָעַן;° |

3:1 ¶
Now these [are] the nations which Yahweh left, to prove Yisrael by them, [even] as many [of Yisrael] as had not known all the wars of Kenaan; |

Only°
that°°
the generations°
of the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
might know,°°
to teach°°
them war,°
at the least°
such as°
before°
knew°°
nothing°
thereof; |

Only that the generations of the children of Yisrael might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof; |

3:3
[Namely], five°
lords°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,°
and all°
the
Cæna`ánîm
כְּנַעֲנִים,°
and the
Xîđônîm
צִידוֹנִים,°
and the
Çiwwîm
חִוִּים°
that dwelt°°
in mount°
Lævänôn
לְבָנוֹן,°
from mount°°
Ba`al Çermôn
בַּעַל־חֶרמוֹן°
unto°
the entering in°°
of
Çámäŧ
חֲמָת.° |

[Namely], five lords of the Pelishtim, and all the Kenaanim, and the Tzidonim, and the Chiwwim that dwelt in mount Levanon, from mount Baal-Chermon unto the entering in of Chamath. |

And they were°
to prove°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
by them, to know°°
whether they would hearken°°
unto°
the commandments°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
which°
he commanded°°°
their fathers°
by the hand°
of
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה.° |

And they were to prove Yisrael by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Mosheh. |

3:5 ¶
And the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
dwelt°°
among°
the
Cæna`ánîm
כְּנַעֲנִים,°
Çittîm
חִתִּים,°
and
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים,°
and
Pærizzîm
פְּרִזִּים,°
and
Çiwwîm
חִוִּים,°
and
Yævûsîm
יְבוּסִים:° |

3:5 ¶
And the children of Yisrael dwelt among the Kenaanim, Chittim, and Emorim, and Perizzim, and Chiwwim, and Yevusim: |

And they took°°°
their daughters°
to be their wives,°
and gave°°
their daughters°
to their sons,°
and served°°°
their
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their elohim. |

3:7
And the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
did°°°
evil°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and forgat°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
and served°°°
Bæ`älîm
בְּעָלִים°
and the groves.° |

And the children of Yisrael did evil in the sight of Yahweh, and forgat Yahweh their Elohim, and served Bealim and the groves. |
|
3:8 ¶
Therefore the anger°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
was hot°°
against
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and he sold°°
them into the hand°
of
Cûšan Riš`äŧayim
כּוּשַׁן־רִשׁעָתַיִם°
king°
of
´Áram Nahárayim
אֲרַם־נַהֲרַיִם:°
and the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
served°°°
Cûšan Riš`äŧayim
כּוּשַׁן־רִשׁעָתַיִם°
eight°
years.° |

3:8 ¶
Therefore the anger of Yahweh was hot against Yisrael, and he sold them into the hand of Kushan-Rishathayim king of Aram-Naharayim: and the children of Yisrael served Kushan-Rishathayim eight years. |

And when the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
cried°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
raised up°°
a deliverer°°
to the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
who delivered°°
them, [even]°
`Oŧnî´ël
עָתנִיאֵל°
the son°
of
Kænaz
קְנַז,°
Cälëv's
כָּלֵב°
younger°
brother.° |

And when the children of Yisrael cried unto Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a deliverer to the children of Yisrael, who delivered them, [even] Othniel the son of Qenaz, Kalev's younger brother. |
|
3:10
And the Spirit°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
came°
upon°
him, and he judged°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and went out°°
to war:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
delivered°°°
Cûšan Riš`äŧayim
כּוּשַׁן־רִשׁעָתַיִם°
king°
of
´Áram Nahárayim
אֲרַם־נַהֲרַיִם°
into his hand;°
and his hand°
prevailed°°
against°
Cûšan Riš`äŧayim
כּוּשַׁן־רִשׁעָתַיִם.° |

And the Spirit of Yahweh came upon him, and he judged Yisrael, and went out to war: and Yahweh delivered Kushan-Rishathayim king of Aram-Naharayim into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Kushan-Rishathayim. |

3:11
And the land°
had rest°°
forty°
years.°
And
`Oŧnî´ël
עָתנִיאֵל°
the son°
of
Kænaz
קְנַז°
died.°° |

And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Qenaz died. |

3:12 ¶
And the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
did°°
evil°
again°°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
strengthened°°°
`Eqlôn
עֶגלוֹן°
the king°
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב°
against°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
because°°
they had done°°°
evil°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

3:12 ¶
And the children of Yisrael did evil again in the sight of Yahweh: and Yahweh strengthened Eglon the king of Moav against Yisrael, because they had done evil in the sight of Yahweh. |

And he gathered°°
unto°
him°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
and
`Ámälëk
עֲמָלֵק,°
and went°°°
and smote°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and possessed°°°
the city°
of palm trees.°°° |

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amaleq, and went and smote Yisrael, and possessed the city of palm trees. |

3:14
So the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
served°°°
`Eqlôn
עֶגלוֹן°
the king°
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב°
eighteen°°
years.° |

So the children of Yisrael served Eglon the king of Moav eighteen years. |

3:15
But when the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
cried°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
raised them up°°
a deliverer,°°°
´Ëhûđ
אֵהוּד°°
the son°
of
Gërä´
גֵּרָא,°
a
Benyæmînî
בֶּניְמִינִי,°°
a man°
lefthanded:°°°
and by him°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
sent°°
a present°
unto
`Eqlôn
עֶגלוֹן°
the king°

But when the children of Yisrael cried unto Yahweh, Yahweh raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benyemini, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Yisrael sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moav. |

edges,°
of a cubit°
length;°
and he did gird°°
it under°°
his raiment°
upon°
his right°
thigh.° |

And he brought°°°
the present°
unto

עֶגלוֹן°
king°

Mô´äv
מוֹאָב:°

`Eqlôn
עֶגלוֹן°
[was] a very°
fat°
man.° |

And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moav: and Eglon [was] a very fat man. |

3:18
And when°
he had made an end°°
to offer°°°
the present,°
he sent away°°°
the people°
that bare°°
the present.° |

And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present. |

But he°
himself turned again°°
from°
the quarries°
that°
[were] by°
Gilgäl

and said,°°
I have a secret°
errand°
unto thee, O king:°
who said,°°
Keep silence.°°
And all°
that stood°°
by him went out°°
from°°
him. |

But he himself turned again from the quarries that [were] by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him. |

3:20
And

him; and he°
was sitting°°
in a summer°
parlour,°
which°
he had for himself alone.°
And
´Ëhûđ

said,°°
I have a message°
from
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
unto°
thee. And he arose°°
out of°°
[his] seat.° |

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from Elohim unto thee. And he arose out of [his] seat. |
|
3:21
And
´Ëhûđ
אֵהוּד°°
put forth°°°
his left°
hand,°
and took°°°
the dagger°
from°°
his right°
thigh,°
and thrust°°
it into his belly:° |

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: |

And the haft°
also°
went in°°
after°
the blade;°
and the fat°
closed°°
upon°
the blade,°
so that°
he could not°
draw°°
the dagger°
out of his belly;°°
and the dirt°
came out.°° |

them. |

Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them. |

was gone out,°°
his servants°
came;°°
and when they saw°°
that, behold,°
the doors°
of the parlour°
[were] locked,°°
they said,°°
Surely°
he°
covereth°°°
his feet°
in his summer°
chamber.° |

3:24
When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour [were] locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. |
|
3:25
And they tarried°°
till°
they were ashamed:°°
and, behold,°
he opened°°
not°
the doors°
of the parlour;°
therefore they took°°°
a key,°
and opened°°
[them]: and, behold,°
their
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
[was] fallen down°°
dead°°
on the earth.° |

And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened [them]: and, behold, their adon [was] fallen down dead on the earth. |
|
3:26
And

escaped°°
while°
they tarried,°°
and passed beyond°°°
the quarries,°
and escaped°°
unto
Ŝæ`îräŧ
שְׂעִירָת.° |

And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath. |
|
3:27
And it came to pass,°
when he was come,°°
that he blew°°
a trumpet°
in the mountain°
of
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִם,°
and the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
went down°°
with°
him from°
the mount,°
and he°
before°
them. |

3:27
And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Efrayim, and the children of Yisrael went down with him from the mount, and he before them. |
|
3:28
And he said°°
unto°
them, Follow°°
after°
me: for°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
hath delivered°°°
your enemies°°°
the
Mô´ävîm
מוֹאָבִים°
into your hand.°
And they went down°°
after°
him, and took°°°
the fords°
of
Yardën
יַרדֵּן°
toward
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,°
and suffered°°
not°
a man°
to pass over.°° |

And he said unto them, Follow after me: for Yahweh hath delivered your enemies the Moavim into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Yarden toward Moav, and suffered not a man to pass over. |
|
3:29
And they slew°°
of°

מוֹאָב°
at that°
time°
about ten°
thousand°
men,°
all°
lusty,°
and all°
men°
of valour;°
and there escaped°°
not°
a man.° |

And they slew of Moav at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man. |

So

the hand°

And the land°
had rest°°
fourscore°

So Moav was subdued that day under the hand of Yisrael. And the land had rest fourscore years. |

3:31 ¶
And after°
him was°
Šamgar
שַׁמגַּר°
the son°
of
`Ánäŧ
עֲנָת,°
which slew°°
of°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
six°
hundred°
men°
with an ox°
goad:°
and he°
also°
delivered°°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

3:31 ¶
And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Pelishtim six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Yisrael. |
