Exodus 19

1 The people come to Sinai. 3 God's message by Moses unto the people out of the mount. 8 The people's answer returned again. 10 The people are prepared against the third day. 12 The mountain must not be touched. 16 The fearful presence of God upon the mount.

 19:1 In the third 7992 month 2320 after the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 had gone 3318 out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714, on that very day 3117 they came 935 into the wilderness 4057b of Sinai 5514.

 19:2 When they set 5265 out from Rephidim 7508, they came 935 to the wilderness 4057b of Sinai 5514 and camped 2583 in the wilderness 4057b; and there 8033 Israel 3478 camped 2583 in front 5048 of the mountain 2022.

 19:3 Moses 4872 went 5927 up to God 430, and the LORD 3068 called 7121 to him from the mountain 2022, saying 559, “Thus 3541 you shall say 559 to the house 1004 of Jacob 3290 and tell 5046 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478:

 19:4 ‘You yourselves 864b have seen 7200 what 834 I did 6213a to the Egyptians 4714, and [how] I bore 5375 you on eagles’ 5404 wings 3671, and brought 935 you to Myself.

 19:5 ‘Now 6258 then, if 518 you will indeed 8085 obey 8085 My voice 6963 and keep 8104 My covenant 1285, then you shall be My own possession 5459 among 4480 all 3605 the peoples 5971a, for all 3605 the earth 776 is Mine;

 19:6 and you shall be to Me a kingdom 4467 of priests 3548 and a holy 6918 nation 1471.’ These 428 are the words 1697 that you shall speak 1696 to the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.”

 19:7 ¶ So Moses 4872 came 935 and called 7121 the elders 2205 of the people 5971a, and set 7760 before 6440 them all 3605 these 428 words 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 him.

 19:8 All 3605 the people 5971a answered 6030a together 3164a and said 559, “All 3605 that the LORD 3068 has spoken 1696 we will do 6213a!” And Moses 4872 brought 7725 back 7725 the words 1697 of the people 5971a to the LORD 3068.

 19:9 The LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Behold 2009, I will come 935 to you in a thick 5672 cloud 6051, so 5668 that the people 5971a may hear 8085 when I speak 1696 with you and may also 1571 believe 539 in you forever 5769.” Then Moses 4872 told 5046 the words 1697 of the people 5971a to the LORD 3068.

 19:10 ¶ The LORD 3068 also said 559 to Moses 4872, “Go 1980 to the people 5971a and consecrate 6942 them today 3117 and tomorrow 4279, and let them wash 3526 their garments 8071;

 19:11 and let them be ready 3559 for the third 7992 day 3117, for on the third 7992 day 3117 the LORD 3068 will come 3381 down 3381 on Mount 2022 Sinai 5514 in the sight 5869 of all 3605 the people 5971a.

 19:12 “You shall set 1379 bounds 1379 for the people 5971a all 5439 around 5439, saying 559, ‘Beware 8104 that you do not go 5927 up on the mountain 2022 or touch 5060 the border 7097a of it; whoever 3605 touches 5060 the mountain 2022 shall surely 4191 be put 4191 to death 4191.

 19:13 ‘No 3808 hand 3027 shall touch 5060 him, but he shall surely 5619 be stoned 5619 or 176 shot 3384 through 3384; whether 518 beast 929 or 518 man 376, he shall not live 2421a.’ When the ram’s 3104 horn 3104 sounds 4900 a long 4900 blast 4900, they shall come 5927 up to the mountain 2022.”

 19:14 So Moses 4872 went 3381 down 3381 from the mountain 2022 to the people 5971a and consecrated 6942 the people 5971a, and they washed 3526 their garments 8071.

 19:15 He said 559 to the people 5971a, “Be ready 3559 for the third 7969 day 3117; do not go 5066 near 5066 a woman 802.”

 19:16 ¶ So it came 1961 about on the third 7992 day 3117, when it was morning 1242, that there were thunder 6963 and lightning 1300 flashes 1300 and a thick 3515 cloud 6051 upon the mountain 2022 and a very 3966 loud 2389 trumpet 7782 sound 6963, so that all 3605 the people 5971a who 834 [were] in the camp 4264 trembled 2729.

 19:17 And Moses 4872 brought 3318 the people 5971a out of the camp 4264 to meet 7122 God 430, and they stood 3320 at the foot 8482 of the mountain 2022.

 19:18 Now Mount 2022 Sinai 5514 [was] all 3605 in smoke 6225 because 4480 6440 834 the LORD 3068 descended 3381 upon it in fire 784; and its smoke 6227 ascended 5927 like the smoke 6227 of a furnace 3536, and the whole 3605 mountain 2022 quaked 2729 violently 3966.

 19:19 When the sound 6963 of the trumpet 7782 grew 1980 louder 2388 and louder 3966, Moses 4872 spoke 1696 and God 430 answered 6030a him with thunder 6963.

 19:20 The LORD 3068 came 3381 down 3381 on Mount 2022 Sinai 5514, to the top 7218 of the mountain 2022; and the LORD 3068 called 7121 Moses 4872 to the top 7218 of the mountain 2022, and Moses 4872 went 5927 up.

 19:21 Then the LORD 3068 spoke 559 to Moses 4872, “Go 3381 down 3381, warn 5749b the people 5971a, so 6435 that they do not break 2040 through 2040 to the LORD 3068 to gaze 7200, and many 7227a of them perish 5307.

 19:22 “Also 1571 let the priests 3548 who come 5066 near 5066 to the LORD 3068 consecrate 6942 themselves, or 6435 else 6435 the LORD 3068 will break 6555 out against them.”

 19:23 Moses 4872 said 559 to the LORD 3068, “The people 5971a cannot 3201 3808 come 5927 up to Mount 2022 Sinai 5514, for You warned 5749b us, saying 559, ‘Set 1379 bounds 1379 about the mountain 2022 and consecrate 6942 it.’”

 19:24 Then the LORD 3068 said 559 to him, “Go 1980 3381 down 1980 and come 5927 up [again], you and Aaron 175 with you; but do not let the priests 3548 and the people 5971a break 2040 through 2040 to come 5927 up to the LORD 3068, or 6435 He will break 6555 forth 6555 upon them.”

 19:25 So Moses 4872 went 3381 down 1980 to the people 5971a and told 559 them.
