Proverbs 22
1 From this chapter to the five and twentieth are sundry observations of moral virtues, and their contrary vices.

22:1
A [good] name 8034 is to be more 4480 desired 977 than 4480 great 7227a wealth 6239, Favor 2580 is better 2896a than 4480 silver 3701 and gold 2091.

The rich 6223 and the poor 7326 have 6298 a common 6298 bond 6298, The LORD 3068 is the maker 6213a of them all 3605.

The prudent 6175 sees 7200 the evil 7463a and hides 5641 himself, But the naive 6612a go 5674a on, and are punished 6064 for it.

22:4
The reward 6118 of humility 6038 [and] the fear 3374 of the LORD 3068 Are riches 6239, honor 3519b and life 2425b.

Thorns 6791 [and] snares 6341a are in the way 1870 of the perverse 6141; He who guards 8104 himself 5315 will be far 7368 from them.

Train 2596 up a child 5288 in the way 1870 he should go, Even 1571 when 3588 he is old 2204 he will not depart 5493 from it.

The rich 6223 rules 4910 over the poor 7326, And the borrower 3867b [becomes] the lender’s 3867b slave 5650.

He who sows 2232 iniquity 5767b will reap 7114b vanity 205, And the rod 7626 of his fury 5678 will perish 3615.

22:9
He who is generous 2896a 5869 will be blessed 1288, For he gives 5414 some 4480 of his food 3899 to the poor 1800b.

Drive 1644 out the scoffer 3917b, and contention 4066 will go 3318 out, Even strife 1779 and dishonor 7036 will cease 7673a.

He who loves 157 purity 2889 of heart 3820 [And] whose speech 8193 is gracious 2580, the king 4428 is his friend 7453.

The eyes 5869 of the LORD 3068 preserve 5341 knowledge 1847, But He overthrows 5557 the words 1697 of the treacherous 898 man.

The sluggard 6102 says 559, “There is a lion 738 outside 2351; I will be killed 7523 in the streets 7339!”

The mouth 6310 of an adulteress 2114a is a deep 6013 pit 7745; He who is cursed 2194 of the LORD 3068 will fall 5307 into it.

Foolishness 200 is bound 7194 up in the heart 3820 of a child 5288; The rod 7626 of discipline 4148 will remove 7368 it far 7368 from him.

He who oppresses 6231 the poor 1800b to make 7235a more 7235a for himself Or who gives 5414 to the rich 6223, [will] only 389 [come to] poverty 4270.

¶ Incline 5186 your ear 241 and hear 8085 the words 1697 of the wise 2450, And apply 7896 your mind 3820 to my knowledge 1847;

For it will be pleasant 5273a if 3588 you keep 8104 them within 990 you, That they may be ready 3559 on your lips 8193.

For the LORD 3068 will plead 7378 their case 7379 And take 6906 the life 5315 of those who rob 6906 them.

¶ Do not associate 7462b with a man 1167 [given] to anger 639; Or go 935 with a hot-tempered 2534 man 376,

Or 6435 you will learn 502 his ways 734 And find 3947 a snare 4170 for yourself 5315.
