 13:1 ¶ NOW before the feast of petscha, Jeshu knew that his hour was come, and that he should pass from this world unto his Father, and he had loved his who were in this world, and unto the end he had loved them.

 13:1 And before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew that the hour had come when he should depart from this world unto the Father. And he loved his own [people], who were in the world; and he loved them unto the end.

 13:2 And when was the supper, Satana had cast it into the heart of Jihuda bar Shemun Scarjuta to betray him.

 13:2 And when the supper was passed, it had been injected by Satan into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him.

 13:3 But Jeshu himself, because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that from Aloha he had come forth, and unto Aloha he was going,

 13:3 And Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands; and that he came out from the Father, and was going to God;

 13:4 riseth from supper, and setteth his garments apart, and took a towel, (and) bound (it) upon his loins;

 13:4 arose from the supper, and laid aside his long garments, and took a linen cloth, and wrapped it about his loins;

 13:5 and he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and wiped (them) with the towel that he had bound upon his loins.

 13:6 But when he came to Shemun Kipha, Shemun said to him, Dost thou, my Lord, wash my feet for me?

 13:6 And when he came to Simon Cephas, Simon said to him: Dost thou, my Lord, wash my feet for me?

 13:7 Jeshu answered and said to him, What I do, thou knowest not now; but afterward thou shalt know.

 13:7 Jesus answered, and said to him: What I do, thou understandest not now: but hereafter thou wilt understand.

 13:8 Shemun Kipha saith to him, Never shalt thou wash for me my feet. Jeshu saith to him, If I do not wash thee, thou hast with me no part.

 13:8 Simon Cephas said to him: Never shalt thou wash my feet. Jesus said to him: Unless I wash thee, thou hast no part with me.

 13:9 Shemun Kipha saith to him, Then, my Lord, not only my feet shalt thou wash for me, but also my hands, also my head.

 13:9 Simon Cephas said to him: Then, my Lord, not my feet only shalt thou wash, but also my hands and my head.

 13:10 Jeshu saith, He that hath bathed needeth not but his feet only to wash, for all of him he hath cleansed: also you are clean, but not all of you.

 13:10 Jesus said to him: He that hath bathed, needeth not but to wash his feet; for he is all clean. And ye also are clean; but not all of you.

 13:11 For Jeshu knew who was betraying him; therefore he said, Ye are not all of you clean.

 13:11 For Jesus knew, who would betray him: therefore he said, Ye are not all clean.

 13:12 But when he had washed their feet, he took up his garments and reclined, and said to them, Know you what I have done for you?

 13:12 And when he had washed their feet, he resumed his long garments, and reclined. And he said to them: Understand ye what I have done to you?

 13:13 You call me Our Master, and Our Lord; and well say you, for I am.

 13:13 Ye call me, Our Rabbi, and Our Lord; and ye speak well; for I am so.

 13:14 If I then, your Lord and your Master, have washed for you your feet, how much more ought you to wash the feet of one another?

 13:14 If then I, your Lord and your Rabbi, have washed your feet, how much more ought ye to wash the feet of one another?

 13:15 For this pattern have I given you, that as I have done to you, you also should do.

 13:15 For I have given you this example, that ye might do, as I have done to you.

 13:16 Amen, amen, I say to you, The servant is not greater than his lord; nor (is) the apostle greater than he who sent him.

 13:16 Verily, verily, I say to you, That no servant is greater than his lord; and no legate is greater than he who sent him.

 13:17 If these you know, happy are you if you do them.

 13:17 If ye know these things, happy will ye be if ye do them.

 13:18 Not of all of you do I speak; for I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, that he who eateth bread with me hath lifted against me his heel.

 13:18 Not of you all, do I speak: I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted his heel against me.

 13:19 Now I tell you before it shall be, that when it is done you may believe that I am.

 13:19 From this time, I tell you, before it occurs, that when it shall occur, ye may know that I am he.

 13:20 Amen, amen, I say to you, Whoever receiveth him whom I send receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me receiveth him who sent me.

 13:20 Verily, verily, I say to you: He that receiveth him whom I send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.

 13:21 These said Jeshu, and was agitated in his spirit, and testified, and said, Amen, amen, I say to you, That one of you shall betray me.

 13:21 These things said Jesus, and he was agitated in his spirit; and he testified, and said: Verily, verily, I say to you, That one of you will betray me.

 13:22 But the disciples looked one on the other, because they knew not concerning whom he spake.

 13:22 And the disciples stared at one another; because they knew not, of whom he spake.

 13:23 Now there was of his disciples one who reclined on his bosom; he whom Jeshu loved.

 13:23 And there was one of his disciples, who was reclining on his bosom, he whom Jesus loved;

 13:24 To this signed Shemun Kipha that he would ask of whom it was that he spake.

 13:24 to him Simon Cephas beckoned, that he should ask him, who it was of whom he spoke.

 13:25 And that disciple fell upon the bosom of Jeshu, and said to him, My Lord, who is this?

 13:25 And that disciple fell upon the breast of Jesus, and said to him: My Lord, which is he?

 13:26 Jeshu answered and said to him, He to whom I give the dipped bread. And Jeshu dipped the bread and gave it to Jihuda bar Shemun Scarjuta.

 13:26 Jesus answered and said: He it is, to whom I give the bread when I have dipped it. And Jesus dipped the bread, and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

 13:27 Then after the bread Satana entered into him. And Jeshu said to him, What thou doest, do with speed!

 13:27 And after the bread, then Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: What thou doest, do quickly.

 13:28 But this no man knew of those who reclined of what he spake to him.

 13:28 And no one of those reclining, knew, wherefore he said this to him.

 13:29 For some of them thought that as Jihuda had the purse, he had instructed him to buy something that should be required at the feast, or that he should give somewhat to the poor.

 13:29 For some of them supposed, because the purse was in the hands of Judas, that Jesus expressly charged him to buy something needful for the feast, or that he should give something to the poor.

 13:30 But he, Jihuda, received the bread and immediately went out: and it was night when he went out.

 13:30 And Judas took the bread at once, and went out of the house. And it was night when he went out.

 13:31 ¶ AND Jeshu said, Now is glorified the Son of man, and Aloha is glorified in him.

 13:31 And Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified; and God is glorified in him.

 13:32 And if Aloha is glorified in him, Aloha shall glorify him in himself, and at once doth glorify him.

 13:32 And if God is glorified in him, God will glorify him in himself; and will glorify him speedily.

 13:33 My sons, a little longer I am with you, and you will seek me; and, as I said to the Jihudoyee, Whither I go you cannot come, so to you say I now.

 13:33 My children, a little longer I am with you; and ye will seek for me; and, as I said to the Jews, Whither I go ye cannot come, so I now say to you.

 13:34 A new commandment give I to you, that you should love one another; as I have loved you, so do you also love one another.

 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that ye be affectionate to each other. As I have loved you, do ye also love one another.

 13:35 By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if love be in you one for another.

 13:35 By this will every one know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love for each other.

 13:36 Shemun Kipha said to him, Our Lord, whither goest thou? Jeshu said to him, Whither I go, thou canst not now come after me; but at the last thou shalt come.

 13:36 Simon Cephas said to him: Our Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, and said to him: Whither I go, thou canst not now come after me; but thou wilt at last come.

 13:37 Shemun Kipha saith to him, My Lord, why cannot I come after thee now? My life for thee lay I down.

 13:37 Simon Cephas said to him: My Lord, why can I not come after thee? I would lay down my life for thee.

 13:38 Jeshu saith to him, Dost thou lay down thy life for me! Amen, amen, I tell thee, That the cock will not crow, until thou shalt have denied me three times.

 13:38 Jesus said to him: Wouldst thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock will not crow, until thou hast three times denied me.
