Then Daryawesh the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Bavel. |

מָדָיֵא,º

and thereinº
[was] a recordº

And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that [is] in the province of the Madaye, a roll, and therein [was] a record thus written: |

In the first year of Koresh the king [the same] Koresh the king made a decree [concerning] the house of Elah at Yerushalaim, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, [and] the breadth thereof threescore cubits; |

And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of Elah, which Nevukhadnetztzar took forth out of the temple which [is] at Yerushalaim, and brought unto Bavel, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which [is] at Yerushalaim, [every one] to his place, and place [them] in the house of Elah. |

Let the work of this house of Elah alone; let the governor of the Yehudaye and the elders of the Yehudaye build this house of Elah in his place. |

for the buildingºº

they be notº

Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Yehudaye for the building of this house of Elah: that of the king's goods, [even] of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered. |

And thatº
whichº
they have need of,ºº
both youngº
bullocks,º
and rams,º
and lambs,º
for the burnt offeringsº
of the
´Éläh
אֱלָהº
of heaven,º
wheat,º
salt,º
wine,º
and oil,º
according to the appointmentº
of the priestsº
whichº
[are] at
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º
let it beºº
givenºº
them dayº
by dayº
withoutºº

And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the Elah of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which [are] at Yerushalaim, let it be given them day by day without fail: |

they mayº

sacrifices of sweet savoursº
unto the
´Éläh
אֱלָהº
of heaven,º
and prayºº
for the lifeº
of the king,º
and of his sons.º |

That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the Elah of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons. |

6:11
Alsoº
I have madeºº
a decree,º
thatº
whosoeverººº
shall alterºº
thisº
word,º
let timberº
be pulled downºº
fromº
his house,º
and being set up,ºº
let him be hangedºº
thereon;º
and let his houseº
be madeºº
a dunghillº
forº
this.º |

Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this. |

And the Elah that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter [and] to destroy this house of Elah which [is] at Yerushalaim. I Daryawesh have made a decree; let it be done with speed. |

[it], accordingº
to the commandmentº

And the elders of the Yehudaye builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Chaggay the prophet and Zekharyah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished [it], according to the commandment of the Elah of Yisrael, and according to the commandment of Koresh, and Daryawesh, and Artachshasta king of Paras. |

And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Daryawesh the king. |

And the childrenº

the priests,º
and the

לֵוָיֵא,º
and the restº
of the childrenº
of the captivity,º
keptºº
the dedicationº
of thisº
houseº

´Éläh
אֱלָהº
with joy,º |

6:16 ¶
And the children of Yisrael, the priests, and the Lewaye, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of Elah with joy, |

And offeredºº
at the dedicationº
of thisº
houseº
of
´Éläh
אֱלָהº
an hundredº
bullocks,º
two hundredº
rams,º
fourº
hundredº
lambs;º
and for a sin offeringººº
forº

according to the numberº
of the tribesº

And offered at the dedication of this house of Elah an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Yisrael, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Yisrael. |

in their courses,º

the serviceº

´Éläh
אֱלָה,º
whichº

Yærûšälaim

And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Lewaye in their courses, for the service of Elah, which [is] at Yerushalaim; as it is written in the book of Mosheh. |

6:19
And the childrenº
of the captivityº
keptººº
the passoverº
upon the fourteenthºº
[day] of the firstº
month.º |

And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth [day] of the first month. |

the priestsº
and the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּםº
were purifiedºº
together,º
allº
of them [were] pure,º
and killedºº
the passoverº
for allº
the childrenº
of the captivity,º
and for their brethrenº
the priests,º
and for themselves. |

For the priests and the Lewiyyim were purified together, all of them [were] pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. |

And the childrenº

which were come againºº
out of captivity,ºº
and allº
such as had separatedºº
themselvesº
untoº
them from the filthinessºº
of the heathenº
of the land,º
to seekºº

יִשׂרָאֵל,º
did eat,ºº |

And the children of Yisrael, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael, did eat, |

And keptºº
the feastº
of unleavened breadº
sevenº
daysº
with joy:º
forº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
had made them joyful,ºº
and turnedºº
the heartº
of the kingº
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּרº
untoº
them, to strengthenºº
their handsº
in the workº
of the houseº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº

Yi$rä´ël

And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for Yahweh had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Ashshur unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of Elohim, the Elohim of Yisrael. |
