And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahawa; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Lewi. |

And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Kasifya, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, [and] to his brethren the Nethinim, at the place Kasifya, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our Elohim. |

And by the goodº

us they broughtºº
us a manº
of understanding,º
of the sonsºº

And by the good hand of our Elohim upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Machli, the son of Lewi, the son of Yisrael; and Sherevyah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen; |

Also of the Nethinim, whom Dawid and the princes had appointed for the service of the Lewiyyim, two hundred and twenty Nethinim: all of them were expressed by name. |

Then I proclaimedºº
a fastº
there,º
atº
the riverº
of
´Aháwä´
אַהֲוָא,º
that we might afflictºº
ourselvesº
beforeº
our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
to seekºº
ofº
him a rightº
wayº
for us, and for our little ones,º
and for allº
our substance.º |

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahawa, that we might afflict ourselves before our Elohim, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. |
|

Forº
I was ashamedºº
to requireºº
ofº
the kingº
a band of soldiersº
and horsemenº
to helpºº
us against the enemyººº
in the way:º
becauseº
we had spokenºº
unto the king,º
saying,ºº
The handº
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
[is] uponº
allº
them for goodº
that seekºº
him; but his powerº
and his wrathº
[is] againstº
allº
them that forsakeºº
him. |

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our Elohim [is] upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath [is] against all them that forsake him. |

So we fastedºº
and besoughtºº
our

אֱלֹהִיםºº
forº
this:º
and he was intreatedºº
of us. |

So we fasted and besought our Elohim for this: and he was intreated of us. |

Then I separatedºº

of the priests,º

of their brethrenºº

them, |

Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherevyah, Chashavyah, and ten of their brethren with them, |

unto themº
the silver,º
and the gold,º
and the vessels,º
[even] the offeringº
of the houseº
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
which the king,º
and his counsellors,ºº
and his lords,º
and allº

יִשׂרָאֵלº
[there] present,ºº
had offered:ºº |

And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, [even] the offering of the house of our Elohim, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Yisrael [there] present, had offered: |

their handº
sixº
hundredº
and fiftyº
talentsº
of silver,º
and silverº
vesselsº
an hundredº
talents,º
[and] of goldº
an hundredº
talents;º |

I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, [and] of gold an hundred talents; |

Also twentyº
basonsº
of gold,º
of a thousandº
drams;º
and twoº
vesselsº
of fineººº
copper,º
preciousºº
as gold.º |

Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold. |

the vesselsº

also; and the silverº

[are] a freewill offeringº

And I said unto them, Ye [are] holy unto Yahweh; the vessels [are] holy also; and the silver and the gold [are] a freewill offering unto Yahweh Elohim of your fathers. |

Watchºº
ye, and keepºº
[them], untilº

[them] beforeº
the chiefº
of the priestsº
and the

Watch ye, and keep [them], until ye weigh [them] before the chief of the priests and the Lewiyyim, and chief of the fathers of Yisrael, at Yerushalaim, in the chambers of the house of Yahweh. |

the weightº
of the silver,º
and the gold,º
and the vessels,º
to bringºº
[them] to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםº
unto the houseº

So took the priests and the Lewiyyim the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring [them] to Yerushalaim unto the house of our Elohim. |

8:31 ¶
Then we departedºº
from the riverºº
of
´Aháwä´
אַהֲוָאº
on the twelfthºº
[day] of the firstº
month,º
to goººº
unto
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם:º
and the handº
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
wasº
uponº
us, and he deliveredºº
us from the handºº
of the enemy,ºº
and of such as lay in waitºº
byº
the way.º |

Then we departed from the river of Ahawa on the twelfth [day] of the first month, to go unto Yerushalaim: and the hand of our Elohim was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way. |

And we cameºº

And we came to Yerushalaim, and abode there three days. |

Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our Elohim by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriyyah the priest; and with him [was] Elazar the son of Pinchas; and with them [was] Yozavad the son of Yeshua, and Noadyah the son of Binnuy, Lewiyyim; |

[Also] the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the Elohim of Yisrael, twelve bullocks for all Yisrael, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats [for] a sin offering: all [this was] a burnt offering unto Yahweh. |

commissionsº
unto the king'sº
lieutenants,º
and to the governorsº
on this sideº
the river:º
and they furtheredººº
the people,º

And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of Elohim. |
