The word of Yahweh that came to Mikhah the Morashti in the days of Yotham, Achaz, [and] Chizqiyyah, kings of Yehudah, which he saw concerning Shomron and Yerushalaim. |

hearken,ºº
O earth,º
and all that thereinº
is:º
and let

אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
beº
witnessº
against you,
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
from his holyº
temple.ºº |

Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let Adonay Yahweh be witness against you, Yahweh from his holy temple. |

For,º
behold,º
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
cometh forthºº
out of his place,ºº
and will come down,ºº
and treadºº
uponº
the high placesº
of the earth.º |

For, behold, Yahweh cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. |

1:4
And the mountainsº
shall be moltenºº
underº
him, and the valleysº
shall be cleft,ºº
as waxº
beforeºº
the fire,º
[and] as the watersº
[that are] pouredºº
downº
a steep place.º |

And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, [and] as the waters [that are] poured down a steep place. |

For the transgressionº

[is] allº
this,º
and for the sinsº
of the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.º
Whatº
[is] the transgressionº
of
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב?º
[is it] notº
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן?º
and whatº
[are] the high placesº
of
Yæhûðà
יְהוּדָה?º
[are they] notº
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם?º |

For the transgression of Yaaqov [is] all this, and for the sins of the house of Yisrael. What [is] the transgression of Yaaqov? [is it] not Shomron? and what [are] the high places of Yehudah? [are they] not Yerushalaim? |

Therefore I will makeºº
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹןº
as an heapº
of the field,º
[and] as plantingsº
of a vineyard:º
and I will pour downºº
the stonesº
thereof into the valley,º
and I will discoverºº
the foundationsº
thereof. |

Therefore I will make Shomron as an heap of the field, [and] as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. |

And allº
the graven imagesº
thereof shall be beaten to pieces,ºº
and allº
the hiresº
thereof shall be burnedºº
with the fire,º
and allº
the idolsº
thereof will I layºº
desolate:º
forº
she gatheredºº
[it] of the hireºº
of an harlot,ºº
and they shall returnºº
toº
the hireº
of an harlot.ºº |

And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered [it] of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. |

Thereforeºº
I will wailºº
and howl,ºº
I will goººº
strippedºº
and naked:º
I will makeºº
a wailingº
like the dragons,ºº
and mourningº
as the owls.ºº |

Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls. |

[is] incurable;ºº

it is comeºº

the gateº
of my people,º
[even] toº

For her wound [is] incurable; for it is come unto Yehudah; he is come unto the gate of my people, [even] to Yerushalaim. |

Declareºº
ye [it] notº
at

weepºº
ye not at all:ººº
in the houseº

`Afrà
עַפרָהº
rollºººº
thyselfº
in the dust.º |

Declare ye [it] not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Afrah roll thyself in the dust. |

Pass ye away,ºº
thou inhabitantºº

שָׁפִיר,º
having thy shameº
naked:º
the inhabitantºº

Xa´ánän
צַאֲנָןº
came not forthººº
in the mourningº
of
Bê± ´Ëxel
בֵּית־אֵצֶל;º
he shall receiveºº
ofº
you his standing.º |

Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Shafir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Tzaanan came not forth in the mourning of Beth-Etzel; he shall receive of you his standing. |

For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from Yahweh unto the gate of Yerushalaim. |

O thou inhabitantºº

לָכִישׁ,º
bindºº
the chariotº
to the swift beast:º
sheº
[is] the beginningº
of the sinº
to the daughterº
of
Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹן:º
forº
the transgressionsº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
were foundºº
in thee. |

O thou inhabitant of Lakhish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she [is] the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Tziyyon: for the transgressions of Yisrael were found in thee. |

shalt thou giveºº
presentsº

the housesº

[shall be] a lieº
to the kingsº

Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moresheth-Gath: the houses of Akhziv [shall be] a lie to the kings of Yisrael. |

the gloryº

Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Yisrael. |

thy delicateº
children;º
enlargeºº
thy baldnessº
as the eagle;º

they are gone into captivityºº

thee. |
