Genesis 33

1 The kindness of Jacob and Esau at their meeting. 17 Jacob cometh to Succoth. 18 At Shalem he buyeth a field, and buildeth an altar called El-elohe-Israel.

 33:1 Then Jacob 3290 lifted 5375 his eyes 5869 and looked 7200, and behold 2009, Esau 6215 was coming 935, and four 702 hundred 3967 men 376 with him. So he divided 2673 the children 3206 among 5921 Leah 3812 and Rachel 7354 and the two 8147 maids 8198.

 33:2 He put 7760 the maids 8198 and their children 3206 in front 7223, and Leah 3812 and her children 3206 next 314, and Rachel 7354 and Joseph 3130 last 314.

 33:3 But he himself 1931 passed 5674a on ahead 6440 of them and bowed 7812 down 7812 to the ground 776 seven 7651 times 6471, until 5704 he came 5066 near 5066 to his brother 251.

 33:4 ¶ Then Esau 6215 ran 7323 to meet 7122 him and embraced 2263 him, and fell 5307 on his neck 6677 and kissed 5401a him, and they wept 1058.

 33:5 He lifted 5375 his eyes 5869 and saw 7200 the women 802 and the children 3206, and said 559, “Who 4310 are these 428 with you?” So he said 559, “The children 3206 whom 834 God 430 has graciously 2603a given 2603a your servant 5650.”

 33:6 Then the maids 8198 came 5066 near 5066 with their children 3206, and they bowed 7812 down 7812.

 33:7 Leah 3812 likewise 1571 came 5066 near 5066 with her children 3206, and they bowed 7812 down 7812; and afterward 310 Joseph 3130 came 5066 near 5066 with Rachel 7354, and they bowed 7812 down 7812.

 33:8 And he said 559, “What 4310 do you mean by all 3605 this 2088 company 4264 which 834 I have met 6298?” And he said 559, “To find 4672 favor 2580 in the sight 5869 of my lord 113.”

 33:9 But Esau 6215 said 559, “I have 3426 plenty 7227a, my brother 251; let what 834 you have 1961 be your own.”

 33:10 Jacob 3290 said 559, “No 408, please 4994, if 518 now 4994 I have found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869, then take 3947 my present 4503 from my hand 3027, for I see 7200 your face 6440 as one sees 7200 the face 6440 of God 430, and you have received 7521 me favorably 7521.

 33:11 “Please 4994 take 3947 my gift 1293 which 834 has been brought 935 to you, because 3588 God 430 has dealt 2603a graciously 2603a with me and because 3588 I have 3426 plenty 3605.” Thus he urged 6484 him and he took 3947 [it].

 33:12 ¶ Then Esau said 559, “Let us take 5265 our journey 5265 and go 1980, and I will go 1980 before 5048 you.”

 33:13 But he said 559 to him, “My lord 113 knows 3045 that the children 3206 are frail 7390 and that the flocks 6629 and herds 1241 which are nursing 5763 are a care 5921 to me. And if they are driven 1849 hard 1849 one 259 day 3117, all 3605 the flocks 6629 will die 4191.

 33:14 “Please 4994 let my lord 113 pass 5674a on before 6440 his servant 5650, and I will proceed 5095 at my leisure 328, according to the pace 7272 of the cattle 4399 that are before 6440 me and according to the pace 7272 of the children 3206, until 5704 834 I come 935 to my lord 113 at Seir 8165.”

 33:15 ¶ Esau 6215 said 559, “Please 4994 let me leave 3322 with you some 4480 of the people 5971a who 834 are with me.” But he said 559, “What 4100 need is there? Let me find 4672 favor 2580 in the sight 5869 of my lord 113.”

 33:16 So Esau 6215 returned 7725 that day 3117 on his way 1870 to Seir 8165.

 33:17 Jacob 3290 journeyed 5265 to Succoth 5523, and built 1129 for himself a house 1004 and made 6213a booths 5521 for his livestock 4735; therefore 5921 3651 the place 4725 is named 7121 8034 Succoth 5523.

 33:18 ¶ Now Jacob 3290 came 935 safely 8003 to the city 5892b of Shechem 7927, which 834 is in the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, when he came 935 from Paddan-aram 6307, and camped 2583 before 6440 the city 5892b.

 33:19 He bought 7069 the piece 2513a of land 2513a where 834 8033 he had pitched 5186 his tent 168 from the hand 3027 of the sons 1121 of Hamor 2544, Shechem’s 7927 father 1, for one hundred 3967 pieces 7192 of money 7192.

 33:20 Then he erected 5324 there 8033 an altar 4196 and called 7121 it El-Elohe-Israel 415.
