 27:1 ¶
And Job further continued and said in his parable, |
|
 27:1 ¶
Moreoverº
Jobº
continuedºººº
his parable,º
and said,ºº |
 27:2
[As] God lives, who has thus judge me; and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul; |
|
 27:2
[As] Elº
liveth,º
[who] hath taken awayºº
my judgment;º
and Shaddai,º
[who] hath vexedºº
my soul;º |
 27:3
verily, while my breath is yet in [me], and the breath of God which remains to me is in my nostrils, |
|
 27:3
Allº
the whileº
my breathº
[is] in me, and the spiritº
of Eloahº
[is] in my nostrils;º |
 27:4
my lips shall not speak evil words, neither shall my soul meditate unrighteous thoughts. |
|
 27:4
My lipsº
shall notº
speakºº
wickedness,º
norº
my tongueº
utterºº
deceit.º |
 27:5
Far be it from me that I should justify you till I die; for I will not let go my innocence, |
|
 27:5
God forbidº
thatº
I should justifyºº
you: tillº
I dieºº
I will notº
removeºº
mine integrityº
fromº
me. |
 27:6
but keeping fast to [my] righteousness I will by no means let it go: for I am not conscious to myself of having done any thing amiss. |
|
 27:6
My righteousnessº
I holdºº
fast,º
and will notº
let it go:ºº
my heartº
shall notº
reproachºº
[me] so long as I live.ºº |
 27:7
Nay rather, but let mine enemies be as the overthrow of the ungodly, and they that rise up against me, as the destruction of transgressors. |
|
 27:7
Let mine enemyºº
beº
as the wicked,º
and he that riseth upºº
againstº
me as the unrighteous.º |
 27:8
For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? will he indeed trust in the Lord [and] be saved? |
|
 27:8
Forº
whatº
[is] the hopeº
of the hypocrite,º
thoughº
he hath gained,ºº
whenº
Eloahº
taketh awayºº
his soul?º |
 27:9
Will God hear his prayer? or, when distress has come upon him, |
|
 27:9
Will Elº
hearºº
his cryº
whenº
troubleº
comethºº
uponº
him? |
 27:10
has he any confidence before him? or will [God] hear him as he calls upon him? |
|
 27:10
Will he delightºº
himselfº
inº
Shaddai?º
will he alwaysºº
callºº
uponº
Eloah?º |
 27:11
Yet now I will tell you what is in the hand of the Lord: I will not lie concerning the things which are with the Almighty. |
|
 27:11
I will teachºº
you by the handº
of El:º
[that] whichº
[is] withº
Shaddaiº
will I notº
conceal.ºº |
 27:12
Behold, ye all know that ye are adding vanity to vanity. |
|
 27:12
Behold,º
allº
ye yourselvesº
have seenºº
[it]; whyº
then are ye thusº
altogetherº
vain?ºº |
 27:13
This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of oppressors shall come upon them from the Almighty. |
|
 27:13
Thisº
[is] the portionº
of a wickedº
manº
withº
El,º
and the heritageº
of oppressors,º
[which] they shall receiveºº
of Shaddai.ºº |
 27:14
And if their children be many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg. |
|
 27:14
Ifº
his childrenº
be multiplied,ºº
[it is] forº
the sword:º
and his offspringº
shall notº
be satisfiedºº
with bread.º |
 27:15
And they that survive of him shall utterly perish, and no one shall pity their widows. |
|
 27:15
Those that remainº
of him shall be buriedºº
in death:º
and his widowsº
shall notº
weep.ºº |
 27:16
Even if he should gather silver as earth, and prepare gold as clay; |
|
 27:16
Thoughº
he heap upºº
silverº
as the dust,º
and prepareºº
raimentº
as the clay;º |
 27:17
All these things shall the righteous gain, and the truehearted shall possess his wealth. |
|
 27:17
He may prepareºº
[it], but the justº
shall put [it] on,ºº
and the innocentº
shall divideºº
the silver.º |
 27:18
And his house is gone like moths, and like a spider's web. |
|
 27:18
He buildethºº
his houseº
as a moth,º
and as a boothº
[that] the keeperºº
maketh.ºº |
 27:19
The rich man shall lie down, and shall not continue: he has opened his eyes, and he is not. |
|
 27:19
The richº
manº
shall lie down,ºº
but he shall notº
be gathered:ºº
he openethºº
his eyes,º
and he [is] not.º |
 27:20
Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night. |
|
 27:20
Terrorsº
take holdºº
on him as waters,º
a tempestº
stealeth him awayºº
in the night.º |
 27:21
And a burning wind shall catch him, and he shall depart, and it shall utterly drive him out of his place. |
|
 27:21
The eastº
windº
carrieth him away,ºº
and he departeth:ººº
and as a storm hurlethºº
him out of his place.ºº |
 27:22
And [God] shall cast [trouble] upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand. |
|
 27:22
For [Elohim] shall castºº
uponº
him, and notº
spare:ºº
he would fainºº
fleeºº
out of his hand.ºº |
 27:23
He shall cause [men] to clap their hands against them, and shall hiss him out of his place. |
|
 27:23
[Men] shall clapºº
their handsº
atº
him, and shall hissººº
him out of his place.ºº |
