 37:1 ¶
At this also my heart is troubled, and moved out of its place. |
|
 37:1 ¶
At thisº
alsoº
my heartº
trembleth,ºº
and is movedº
outºº
of his place.ºº |
 37:2
Hear thou a report by the anger of the Lord's wrath, and a discourse shall come out of his mouth. |
|
 37:2
Hearºº
attentivelyºº
the noiseº
of his voice,º
and the soundº
[that] goeth outºº
of his mouth.ºº |
 37:3
His dominion is under the whole heaven, and his light is at the extremities of the earth. |
|
 37:3
He directethºº
itºº
underº
the wholeº
heaven,º
and his lightningº
untoº
the endsº
of the earth.º |
 37:4
After him shall be a cry with a [loud] voice; he shall thunder with the voice of his excellency, yet he shall not cause men to pass away, for one shall hear his voice. |
|
 37:4
Afterº
it a voiceº
roareth:ºº
he thunderethºº
with the voiceº
of his excellency;º
and he will notº
stayºº
them whenº
his voiceº
is heard.ºº |
 37:5
The Mighty One shall thunder wonderfully with his voice: for he has done great things which we knew not; |
|
 37:5
Elº
thunderethºº
marvellouslyºº
with his voice;º
great thingsº
doethºº
he, which we cannotº
comprehend.ºº |
 37:6
commanding the snow, Be thou upon the earth, and the stormy rain, and the storm of the showers of his might. |
|
 37:6
Forº
he saithºº
to the snow,º
Beº
thouºº
[on] the earth;º
likewise to the smallº
rain,º
and to the greatº
rainº
of his strength.º |
 37:7
He seals up the hand of every man, that every man may know his own weakness. |
|
 37:7
He sealeth upºº
the handº
of everyº
man;º
that allº
menºº
may knowºº
his work.º |
 37:8
And the wild beasts come in under the covert, and rest in [their] lair. |
|
 37:8
Then the beastsº
goºº
intoº
dens,º
and remainºº
in their places.º |
 37:9
Troubles come on out of the secret chambers, and cold from the mountain-tops. |
|
 37:9
Out ofº
the southº
comethºº
the whirlwind:º
and coldº
out of the north.ºº |
 37:10
And from the breath of the Mighty One he will send frost; and he guides the water in whatever way he pleases. |
|
 37:10
By the breathºº
of Elº
frostº
is given:ºº
and the breadthº
of the watersº
is straitened.º |
 37:11
And [if] a cloud obscures [what is] precious [to him], his light will disperse the cloud. |
|
 37:11
Alsoº
by wateringº
he weariethºº
the thick cloud:º
he scatterethºº
his brightº
cloud:º |
 37:12
And he will carry round the encircling [clouds] by his governance, to [perform] their works: whatsoever he shall command them, |
|
 37:12
And itº
is turnedºº
round aboutº
by his counsels:º
that they may doºº
whatsoeverºº
he commandethºº
them uponº
the faceº
of the worldº
in the earth.º |
 37:13
this has been appointed by him on the earth, whether for correction, [or] for his land, or if he shall find him [an object] for mercy. |
|
 37:13
He causeth it to come,ºº
whetherº
for correction,º
orº
for his land,º
orº
for mercy.º |
 37:14
Hearken to this, O Job: stand still, and be admonished of the power of the Lord. |
|
 37:14
Hearkenºº
unto this,º
O Job:º
stand still,ºº
and considerºº
the wondrousºº
works of El.º |
 37:15
We know that god has disposed his works, having made light out of darkness. |
|
 37:15
Dost thou knowºº
when Eloahº
disposedººº
them, and caused the lightº
of his cloudº
to shine?ºº |
 37:16
And he knows the divisions of the clouds, and the signal overthrows of the ungodly. |
|
 37:16
Dost thou knowººº
the balancingsº
of the clouds,º
the wondrous worksº
of him which is perfectº
in knowledge?º |
 37:17
But thy robe is warm, and there is quiet upon the land. |
|
 37:17
Howº
thy garmentsº
[are] warm,º
when he quietethºº
the earthº
by the southºº
[wind]? |
 37:18
Wilt thou establish with him [foundations] for the ancient [heavens? they are] strong as a molten mirror. |
|
 37:18
Hast thou withº
him spread outºº
the sky,º
[which is] strong,º
[and] as a moltenºº
looking glass?º |
 37:19
Wherefore teach me, what shall we say to him? and let us cease from saying much. |
|
 37:19
Teachºº
us whatº
we shall sayºº
unto him; [for] we cannotº
orderºº
[our speech] by reasonºº
of darkness.º |
 37:20
Have I a book or a scribe my me, that I may stand and put man to silence? |
|
 37:20
Shall it be toldºº
him thatº
I speak?ºº
ifº
a manº
speak,ºº
surelyº
he shall be swallowed up.ºº |
 37:21
But the light is not visible to all: it shines afar off in the heavens, as that which is from him in the clouds. |
|
 37:21
And nowº
[men] seeºº
notº
the brightº
lightº
whichº
[is] in the clouds:º
but the windº
passeth,ºº
and cleansethºº
them. |
 37:22
From the [north] come the clouds shining like gold: in these great are the glory and honour of the Almighty; |
|
 37:22
Fair weatherº
comethºº
out of the north:ºº
withº
Eloahº
[is] terribleºº
majesty.º |
 37:23
and we do not find another his equal in strength: [as for] him that judges justly, dost thou not think that he listens? |
|
 37:23
[Touching] Shaddai,º
we cannotº
find him out:ºº
[he is] excellentº
in power,º
and in judgment,º
and in plentyº
of justice:º
he will notº
afflict.ºº |
 37:24
Wherefore men shall fear him; and the wise also in heart shall fear him. |
|
 37:24
Menºº
do thereforeº
fearºº
him: he respectethºº
notº
anyº
[that are] wiseº
of heart.º |
