 8:1 ¶
[Set] the trumpetº
toº
thy mouth.º
[He shall come] as an eagleº
againstº
the houseº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
becauseº
they have transgressedºº
my covenant,º
and trespassedºº
againstº
my law.º |
|
 8:1 ¶
[Set] the trumpet to thy mouth. [He shall come] as an eagle against the house of Yahweh, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. |
 8:2
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
shall cryºº
unto me, My
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
we knowºº
thee. |
|
 8:2
Yisrael shall cry unto me, My Elohim, we know thee. |
 8:3
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
hath cast offºº
[the thing that is] good:º
the enemyºº
shall pursueºº
him. |
|
 8:3
Yisrael hath cast off [the thing that is] good: the enemy shall pursue him. |
 8:4
Theyº
have set up kings,ºº
but notº
byº
me: they have made princes,ººº
and I knewºº
[it] not:º
of their silverº
and their goldº
have they madeºº
them idols,º
thatº
they may be cut off.ºº |
|
 8:4
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew [it] not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off. |
 8:5 ¶
Thy calf,º
O
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן,º
hath castºº
[thee] off;º
mine angerº
is kindledºº
against them: how longºº
[will it be] ereº
they attainºº
to innocency?º |
|
 8:5 ¶
Thy calf, O Shomron, hath cast [thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long [will it be] ere they attain to innocency? |
 8:6
Forº
from
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלºº
[was] itº
also: the workmanº
madeºº
it;º
therefore it [is] notº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:º
butº
the calfº
of
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹןº
shall beº
broken in pieces.º |
|
 8:6
For from Yisrael [was] it also: the workman made it; therefore it [is] not Elohim: but the calf of Shomron shall be broken in pieces. |
 8:7
Forº
they have sownºº
the wind,º
and they shall reapºº
the whirlwind:º
it hath noº
stalk:º
the budº
shall yieldºº
noº
meal:º
ifº
so beº
it yield,ºº
the strangersºº
shall swallow it up.ºº |
|
 8:7
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. |
 8:8
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
is swallowed up:ºº
nowº
shall they beº
among the Gentilesº
as a vesselº
wherein [is] noº
pleasure.º |
|
 8:8
Yisrael is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein [is] no pleasure. |
 8:9
Forº
theyº
are gone upºº
to
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,º
a wild assº
aloneºº
by himself:
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִםº
hath hiredºº
lovers.º |
|
 8:9
For they are gone up to Ashshur, a wild ass alone by himself: Efrayim hath hired lovers. |
 8:10
Yea,º
thoughº
they have hiredºº
among the nations,º
nowº
will I gatherºº
them, and they shall sorrowºº
a littleº
for the burdenºº
of the kingº
of princes.º |
|
 8:10
Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes. |
 8:11
Becauseº
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִםº
hath made manyºº
altarsº
to sin,ºº
altarsº
shall beº
unto him to sin.ºº |
|
 8:11
Because Efrayim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin. |
 8:12
I have writtenºº
to him the great thingsººº
of my law,º
[but] they were countedºº
asº
a strange thing.ºº |
|
 8:12
I have written to him the great things of my law, [but] they were counted as a strange thing. |
 8:13
They sacrificeºº
fleshº
[for] the sacrificesº
of mine offerings,º
and eatºº
[it; but]
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
acceptethºº
them not;º
nowº
will he rememberºº
their iniquity,º
and visitºº
their sins:º
theyº
shall returnºº
to
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם.º |
|
 8:13
They sacrifice flesh [for] the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat [it; but] Yahweh accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Mitzrayim. |
 8:14
For
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
hath forgottenººº
his Maker,ºº
and buildethºº
temples;º
and
Yæhûðà
יְהוּדָהº
hath multipliedºº
fencedºº
cities:º
but I will sendºº
a fireº
upon his cities,º
and it shall devourºº
the palacesº
thereof. |
|
 8:14
For Yisrael hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Yehudah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof. |
