 14:1 ¶ And theseº [are the countries] whichº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº inheritedºº in the landº of Cænä`an כְּנָעַן,º whichº ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָרº the priest,º and Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº the sonº of Nûn נוּן,º and the headsº of the fathersº of the tribesº of the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º distributed for inheritanceºº to them.

 14:1 ¶ And these [are the countries] which the children of Yisrael inherited in the land of Kenaan, which Elazar the priest, and Yehoshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Yisrael, distributed for inheritance to them.

 14:2 By lotº [was] their inheritance,º asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedºº by the handº of Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º for the nineº tribes,º and [for] the halfº tribe.º

 14:2 By lot [was] their inheritance, as Yahweh commanded by the hand of Mosheh, for the nine tribes, and [for] the half tribe.

 14:3 Forº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº had givenºº the inheritanceº of twoº tribesº and an halfº tribeº on the other sideºº Yardën יַרדֵּן:º but unto the Læwiyyim לְוִיִּםº he gaveºº noneº inheritanceº amongº them.

 14:3 For Mosheh had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Yarden: but unto the Lewiyyim he gave none inheritance among them.

 14:4 Forº the childrenº of Yôsëf יוֹסֵףº wereº twoº tribes,º Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁהº and ´Efrayim אֶפרַיִם:º therefore they gaveºº noº partº unto the Læwiyyim לְוִיִּםº in the land,º saveºº citiesº to dwellºº [in], with their suburbsº for their cattleº and for their substance.º

 14:4 For the children of Yosef were two tribes, Menashsheh and Efrayim: therefore they gave no part unto the Lewiyyim in the land, save cities to dwell [in], with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.

 14:5 Asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedººº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º soº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº did,ºº and they dividedººº the land.º

 14:5 As Yahweh commanded Mosheh, so the children of Yisrael did, and they divided the land.

 14:6 ¶ Then the childrenº of Yæhûðà יְהוּדָהº cameºº untoº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº in Gilgäl גִּלגָּל:º and Cälëv כָּלֵבº the sonº of Yæfunnè יְפֻנֶּהº the Kænizzî קְנִזִּיº saidºº untoº him, Thouº knowestººº the thingº thatº Yähwè יָהוֶהº saidºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº the manº of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº concerningºº meº and theeº in Käðëš Barnëå` קָדֵשׁ־בַּרנֵעַ.º

 14:6 ¶ Then the children of Yehudah came unto Yehoshua in Gilgal: and Kalev the son of Yefunneh the Qenizzi said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that Yahweh said unto Mosheh the man of Elohim concerning me and thee in Qadesh-Barnea.

 14:7 Fortyº yearsº oldº [was] Iº when Möšè מֹשֶׁהº the servantº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº sentºº me from Käðëš Barnëå` קָדֵשׁ־בַּרנֵעַºº to espy outººº the land;º and I broughtºº him wordº againºº asº [it was] inº mine heart.º

 14:7 Forty years old [was] I when Mosheh the servant of Yahweh sent me from Qadesh-Barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as [it was] in mine heart.

 14:8 Nevertheless my brethrenº thatº went upºº withº me madeº the heartº of the peopleº melt:ºº but Iº whollyºº followedº Yähwè יָהוֶהº my ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים.º

 14:8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed Yahweh my Elohim.

 14:9 And Möšè מֹשֶׁהº swareºº on thatº day,º saying,ºº Surelyºº the landº whereonº thy feetº have troddenºº shall beº thine inheritance,º and thy children'sº forº ever,ºº becauseº thou hast whollyºº followedº Yähwè יָהוֶהº my ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים.º

 14:9 And Mosheh sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed Yahweh my Elohim.

 14:10 And now,º behold,º Yähwè יָהוֶהº hath kept me alive,ººº asº he said,ºº theseº fortyº and fiveº years,º even sinceºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeººº thisº wordº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º whileº [the children of] Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵלº wanderedºº in the wilderness:º and now,º lo,º Iº [am] this dayº fourscoreº and fiveº yearsº old.º

 14:10 And now, behold, Yahweh hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since Yahweh spake this word unto Mosheh, while [the children of] Yisrael wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I [am] this day fourscore and five years old.

 14:11 As yetº I [am as] strongº this dayº asº [I was] in the dayº that Möšè מֹשֶׁהº sentºº me: as my strengthº [was] then,º even so [is] my strengthº now,º for war,º both to go out,ºº and to come in.ºº

 14:11 As yet I [am as] strong this day as [I was] in the day that Mosheh sent me: as my strength [was] then, even so [is] my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

 14:12 Nowº therefore giveºº meº thisº mountain,º whereofº Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeºº in thatº day;º forº thouº heardestºº in thatº dayº howº the `Ánäkîm עֲנָקִיםº [were] there,º and [that] the citiesº [were] greatº [and] fenced:ºº ifº so beº Yähwè יָהוֶהº [will be] withº me, then I shall be able to drive them out,ºº asº Yähwè יָהוֶהº said.ºº

 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof Yahweh spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anaqim [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be Yahweh [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as Yahweh said.

 14:13 And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº blessedºº him, and gaveºº unto Cälëv כָּלֵבº the sonº of Yæfunnè יְפֻנֶּהºº Çevrôn חֶברוֹןº for an inheritance.º

 14:13 And Yehoshua blessed him, and gave unto Kalev the son of Yefunneh Chevron for an inheritance.

 14:14 Çevrôn חֶברוֹןº thereforeºº becameº the inheritanceº of Cälëv כָּלֵבº the sonº of Yæfunnè יְפֻנֶּהº the Kænizzî קְנִזִּיº untoº thisº day,º becauseº thatº he whollyºº followedº Yähwè יָהוֶהº ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.º

 14:14 Chevron therefore became the inheritance of Kalev the son of Yefunneh the Qenizzi unto this day, because that he wholly followed Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael.

 14:15 And the nameº of Çevrôn חֶברוֹןº beforeº [was] Kirya± ´Arba` קִריַת־אַרבַּע;º [which ´Arba` אַרבַּע was] a greatº manº among the `Ánäkîm עֲנָקִים.º And the landº had restºº from war.ºº

 14:15 And the name of Chevron before [was] Qiryath-Arba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anaqim. And the land had rest from war.
