 3:1 ¶ And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº rose earlyºº in the morning;º and they removedºº from Ši++îm שִׁטִּים,ºº and cameºº toº Yardën יַרדֵּן,º heº and allº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º and lodgedºº thereº beforeº they passed over.ºº

 3:1 ¶ And Yehoshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Yarden, he and all the children of Yisrael, and lodged there before they passed over.

 3:2 And it came to passº afterºº threeº days,º that the officersºº wentºº throughº the host;º

 3:2 And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;

 3:3 And they commandedººº the people,º saying,ºº When ye seeººº the arkº of the covenantº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº your ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,º and the priestsº the Læwiyyim לְוִיִּםº bearingºº it, then yeº shall removeºº from your place,ºº and goºº afterº it.

 3:3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your Elohim, and the priests the Lewiyyim bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

 3:4 Yetº there shall beº a spaceº betweenº you and it, about two thousandº cubitsº by measure:º come not nearººº untoº it, thatºº ye may knowººº the wayº by whichº ye must go:ººº forº ye have notº passedºº [this] wayº heretofore.ººº

 3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed [this] way heretofore.

 3:5 And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº saidºº untoº the people,º Sanctifyºº yourselves:º forº to morrowº Yähwè יָהוֶהº will doºº wondersºº amongº you.

 3:5 And Yehoshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow Yahweh will do wonders among you.

 3:6 And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº spakeºº untoº the priests,º saying,ºº Take upººº the arkº of the covenant,º and pass overºº beforeº the people.º And they took upººº the arkº of the covenant,º and wentººº beforeº the people.º

 3:6 And Yehoshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

 3:7 ¶ And Yähwè יָהוֶהº saidºº untoº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,º Thisº dayº will I beginºº to magnifyºº thee in the sightº of allº Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º thatº they may knowºº that,º asº I wasº withº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º [so] I will beº withº thee.

 3:7 ¶ And Yahweh said unto Yehoshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Yisrael, that they may know that, as I was with Mosheh, [so] I will be with thee.

 3:8 And thouº shalt commandººº the priestsº that bearºº the arkº of the covenant,º saying,ºº When ye are comeºº toº the brinkº of the waterº of Yardën יַרדֵּן,º ye shall stand stillºº in Yardën יַרדֵּן.º

 3:8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Yarden, ye shall stand still in Yarden.

 3:9 ¶ And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº saidºº untoº the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º Comeº hither,ººº and hearººº the wordsº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº your ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים.º

 3:9 ¶ And Yehoshua said unto the children of Yisrael, Come hither, and hear the words of Yahweh your Elohim.

 3:10 And Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº said,ºº Herebyº ye shall knowºº thatº the livingº ´Ël אֵלº [is] amongº you, and [that] he will without failºº drive outºº from beforeºº youº the Cæna`ánîm כְּנַעֲנִים,º and the Çittîm חִתִּים,º and the Çiwwîm חִוִּים,º and the Pærizzîm פְּרִזִּים,º and the Girgäšîm גִּרגָּשִׁים,º and the ´Émörîm אֱמֹרִים,º and the Yævûsîm יְבוּסִים.º

 3:10 And Yehoshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living El [is] among you, and [that] he will without fail drive out from before you the Kenaanim, and the Chittim, and the Chiwwim, and the Perizzim, and the Girgashim, and the Emorim, and the Yevusim.

 3:11 Behold,º the arkº of the covenantº of ´Áðôn אֲדוֹןº of allº the earthº passeth overºº beforeº you into Yardën יַרדֵּן.º

 3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of Adon of all the earth passeth over before you into Yarden.

 3:12 Nowº therefore takeºº you twelveºº menº out of the tribesºº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,º out of everyº tribeº a man.ººº

 3:12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Yisrael, out of every tribe a man.

 3:13 And it shall come to pass,º as soon as the solesº of the feetº of the priestsº that bearºº the arkº of Yähwè יָהוֶה,º ´Áðôn אֲדוֹןº of allº the earth,º shall restºº in the watersº of Yardën יַרדֵּן,º [that] the watersº of Yardën יַרדֵּןº shall be cut offºº [from] the watersº that come downºº from above;ºº and they shall standºº upon anº heap.º

 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of Yahweh, Adon of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Yarden, [that] the waters of Yarden shall be cut off [from] the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.

 3:14 ¶ And it came to pass,º when the peopleº removedºº from their tents,ºº to pass overººº Yardën יַרדֵּן,º and the priestsº bearingºº the arkº of the covenantº beforeº the people;º

 3:14 ¶ And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Yarden, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

 3:15 And as they that bareºº the arkº were comeºº untoº Yardën יַרדֵּן,º and the feetº of the priestsº that bareºº the arkº were dippedºº in the brimº of the water,º (for Yardën יַרדֵּןº overflowethººº allº his banksº allº the timeº of harvest,)º

 3:15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Yarden, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Yarden overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)

 3:16 That the watersº which came downºº from aboveºº stoodºº [and] rose upºº upon anº heapº veryº farºº from the cityº ´Äðäm אָדָם,ºº thatº [is] besideºº Xär±än צָרתָן:º and those that came downºº towardº the seaº of the plain,º [even] the saltº sea,º failed,ºº [and] were cut off:ºº and the peopleº passed overºº right againstº Yærîçô יְרִיחוֹ.º

 3:16 That the waters which came down from above stood [and] rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that [is] beside Tzarthan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, [even] the salt sea, failed, [and] were cut off: and the people passed over right against Yericho.

 3:17 And the priestsº that bareºº the arkº of the covenantº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº stoodºº firmºº on dry groundº in the midstº of Yardën יַרדֵּן,º and allº the Yi$ræ´ëlîm יִשׂרְאֵלִיםº passed overºº on dry ground,º untilºº allº the peopleº were passedºº cleanºº overººº Yardën יַרדֵּן.º

 3:17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of Yahweh stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Yarden, and all the Yisreelim passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Yarden.
