 1:1 ¶ Now afterº the deathº of Möšè מֹשֶׁהº the servantº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº it came to pass,º that Yähwè יָהוֶהº spakeºº untoº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº the sonº of Nûn נוּן,º Möšè's מֹשֶׁהº minister,ºº saying,ºº

 1:1 ¶ Now after the death of Mosheh the servant of Yahweh it came to pass, that Yahweh spake unto Yehoshua the son of Nun, Mosheh's minister, saying,

 1:2 Möšè מֹשֶׁהº my servantº is dead;ºº nowº therefore arise,ºº go overººº thisº Yardën יַרדֵּן,º thou,º and allº thisº people,º untoº the landº whichº Iº do giveºº to them, [even] to the childrenº of Yi$rä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.º

 1:2 Mosheh my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Yarden, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Yisrael.

 1:3 Everyº placeº thatº the soleº of your footº shall treadº upon,ºº that have I givenºº unto you, asº I saidºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 1:3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Mosheh.

 1:4 From the wildernessºº and thisº Lævänôn לְבָנוֹןº even untoº the greatº river,º the riverº Pærä± פְּרָת,º allº the landº of the Çittîm חִתִּים,º and untoº the greatº seaº toward the going downº of the sun,º shall beº your coast.º

 1:4 From the wilderness and this Levanon even unto the great river, the river Perath, all the land of the Chittim, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

 1:5 There shall notº any manº be able to standºº beforeº thee allº the daysº of thy life:º asº I wasº withº Möšè מֹשֶׁה,º [so] I will beº withº thee: I will notº failºº thee, norº forsakeºº thee.

 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Mosheh, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

 1:6 Be strongºº and of a good courage:ºº forº untoº thisº peopleº shalt thouº divide for an inheritanceººº the land,º whichº I swareºº unto their fathersº to giveºº them.

 1:6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

 1:7 Onlyº be thou strongºº and veryº courageous,ºº that thou mayest observeºº to doºº according to allº the law,º whichº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº my servantº commandedºº thee: turnºº notº fromº it [to] the right handº or [to] the left,º thatº thou mayest prosperºº whithersoeverºº thou goest.ººº

 1:7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Mosheh my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

 1:8 Thisº bookº of the lawº shall notº departºº out of thy mouth;ºº but thou shalt meditateºº therein dayº and night,º thatº thou mayest observeºº to doºº according to allº that is writtenºº therein: forº thenº thou shalt makeººº thy wayº prosperous,ºº and thenº thou shalt have good success.ºº

 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

 1:9 Have notº I commandedºº thee? Be strongºº and of a good courage;ºº be not afraid,ººº neitherº be thou dismayed:ºº forº Yähwè יָהוֶהº thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº [is] withº thee whithersoeverºº thou goest.ººº

 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for Yahweh thy Elohim [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

 1:10 ¶ Then Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַº commandedººº the officersºº of the people,º saying,ºº

 1:10 ¶ Then Yehoshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

 1:11 Passºº throughº the host,º and commandººº the people,º saying,ºº Prepareºº you victuals;º forº withinº threeº daysº yeº shall pass overººº thisº Yardën יַרדֵּן,º to go inºº to possessººº the land,º whichº Yähwè יָהוֶהº your ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº givethºº you to possessºº it.

 1:11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Yarden, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your Elohim giveth you to possess it.

 1:12 ¶ And to the Ræ´ûvënîm רְאוּבֵנִים,º and to the Gäðîm גָּדִים,º and to halfº the tribeº of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה,º spakeºº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,º saying,ºº

 1:12 ¶ And to the Reuvenim, and to the Gadim, and to half the tribe of Menashsheh, spake Yehoshua, saying,

 1:13 Rememberººº the wordº whichº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº the servantº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº commandedºº you, saying,ºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº your ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº hath given you rest,ºº and hath givenºº youº thisº land.º

 1:13 Remember the word which Mosheh the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, Yahweh your Elohim hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

 1:14 Your wives,º your little ones,º and your cattle,º shall remainºº in the landº whichº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº gaveºº you on this sideº Yardën יַרדֵּן;º but yeº shall passºº beforeº your brethrenº armed,º allº the mightyº menº of valour,º and helpºº them;

 1:14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Mosheh gave you on this side Yarden; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

 1:15 Untilºº Yähwè יָהוֶהº have givenºº your brethrenº rest,ºº as [he hath given] you, and theyº alsoº have possessedººº the landº whichº Yähwè יָהוֶהº your ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº givethºº them: then ye shall returnºº unto the landº of your possession,º and enjoyºº it, whichº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº Yähwè's יָהוֶהº servantº gaveºº you on this sideº Yardën יַרדֵּןº toward the sunrising.ºº

 1:15 Until Yahweh have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which Yahweh your Elohim giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Mosheh Yahweh's servant gave you on this side Yarden toward the sunrising.

 1:16 ¶ And they answeredººº Yæhôšuå` יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,º saying,ºº Allº thatº thou commandestºº us we will do,ºº and whithersoeverººº thou sendestºº us, we will go.ººº

 1:16 ¶ And they answered Yehoshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

 1:17 According as we hearkenedºº untoº Möšè מֹשֶׁהº in allº things,º soº will we hearkenºº untoº thee: onlyº Yähwè יָהוֶהº thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִיםº beº withº thee, asº he wasº withº Möšè מֹשֶׁה.º

 1:17 According as we hearkened unto Mosheh in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only Yahweh thy Elohim be with thee, as he was with Mosheh.

 1:18 Whosoeverººº [he be] that doth rebelºº againstºº thy commandment,º and will notº hearkenºº untoºº thy wordsº in allº thatº thou commandestºº him, he shall be put to death:ºº onlyº be strongºº and of a good courage.ºº

 1:18 Whosoever [he be] that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
