Trust in Yahweh with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. |

acknowledgeºº
him, and heº
shall directºº
thy paths.º |

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. |

wiseº
in thine own eyes:º

יָהוֶה,º
and departºº
from evil.ºº |

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. |

It shall beº
healthº
to thy navel,º
and marrowº
to thy bones.º |
|

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. |

with thy substance,ºº
and with the firstfruitsºº
of allº

Honour Yahweh with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: |

So shall thy barnsº

with plenty,º
and thy pressesº
shall burst outºº
with new wine.º |

So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. |

the chasteningº

neitherº
be wearyºº
of his correction:º |

My son, despise not the chastening of Yahweh; neither be weary of his correction: |

lovethºº
he correcteth;ºº
even as a fatherºº
the sonº
[in whom] he delighteth.ºº |

For whom Yahweh loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth. |

Happyº
[is] the manº
[that] findethºº
wisdom,º
and the manº
[that] gettethºº
understanding.º |

Happy [is] the man [that] findeth wisdom, and the man [that] getteth understanding. |

the merchandiseº
of it [is] betterº
than the merchandiseºº
of silver,º
and the gainº
thereof than fine gold.ºº |

For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. |

the things thou canst desireº

She [is] a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retaineth her. |

by understandingº
hath he establishedºº

Yahweh by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. |

By his knowledgeº
the depthsº
are broken up,ºº
and the cloudsº
drop downºº
the dew.º |
|

By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. |

3:21 ¶
My son,º
let notº
them departºº
from thine eyes:ºº
keepºº
sound wisdomº
and discretion:º |

3:21 ¶
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: |
|
3:22
So shall they beº
lifeº
unto thy soul,º
and graceº
to thy neck.º |
|

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. |

Thenº
shalt thou walkººº
in thy wayº
safely,º
and thy footº
shall notº
stumble.ºº |

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. |

thou liest down,ºº

be afraid:ºº
yea, thou shalt lie down,ºº
and thy sleepº
shall be sweet.ºº |

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. |

of suddenº
fear,ºº
neither of the desolationºº
of the wicked,º
whenº
it cometh.ºº |

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. |

thy confidence,º
and shall keepºº
thy footº

For Yahweh shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. |

when it isº
in the powerº
of thine handº
to doºº
[it]. |

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do [it]. |

and to morrowº
I will give;ºº

it byº

Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. |

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. |

the frowardºº
[is] abominationº

but his secretº
[is] withº
the righteous.º |

For the froward [is] abomination to Yahweh: but his secret [is] with the righteous. |

The curseº

[is] in the houseº
of the wicked:º
but he blessethºº
the habitationº
of the just.º |

The curse of Yahweh [is] in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. |

Surelyº
heº
scornethºº
the scorners:ºº
but he givethºº
graceº
unto the lowly.ººº |
|
3:34
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. |
|

The wiseº
shall inheritºº
glory:º
but shameº
shall be the promotionºº
of fools.º |
|

The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. |
