Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: |

She hath killedºº
her beasts;º
she hath mingledºº
her wine;º
she hath alsoº
furnishedºº
her table.º |

She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. |

She hath sent forthºº
her maidens:º
she criethºº
uponºº
the highest placesºº
of the city,º |

She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, |

Whosoº
[is] simple,º
let him turnº
inºº
hither:º
[as for] him that wantethº
understanding,º
she saithºº
to him, |

Whoso [is] simple, let him turn in hither: [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, |

Come,ººº
eatºº
of my bread,º
and drinkºº
of the wineº
[which] I have mingled.ºº |

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine [which] I have mingled. |

Forsakeºº
the foolish,º
and live;ºº
and goºº
in the wayº
of understanding.º |

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. |

He that reprovethºº
a scornerºº
gettethºº
to himself shame:º
and he that rebukethºº
a wickedº
[man getteth] himself a blot.º |

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked [man getteth] himself a blot. |

Reproveºº
notº
a scorner,ºº
lestº
he hateºº
thee: rebukeºº
a wise man,º
and he will loveºº
thee. |

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. |

Giveºº
[instruction] to a wiseº
[man], and he will be yetº
wiser:ºº
teachºº
a justº
[man], and he will increaseºº
in learning.º |

 9:9
Give [instruction] to a wise [man], and he will be yet wiser: teach a just [man], and he will increase in learning. |

The fearº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
[is] the beginningº
of wisdom:º
and the knowledgeº
of the holyº
[is] understanding.º |

 9:10
The fear of Yahweh [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding. |
 9:11
Forº
by me thy daysº
shall be multiplied,ºº
and the yearsº
of thy lifeº
shall be increased.ºº |

 9:11
For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. |

Ifº
thou be wise,ºº
thou shalt be wiseºº
for thyself: but [if] thou scornest,ºº
thou aloneº
shalt bearºº
[it]. |

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but [if] thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear [it]. |

A foolishº

[is] clamorous:ºº
[she is] simple,º

knowethºº

A foolish woman [is] clamorous: [she is] simple, and knoweth nothing. |

For she sittethºº
at the doorº
of her house,º
onº
a seatº
in the high placesº
of the city,º |

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, |

To callºº
passengersººº
who go rightºº
on their ways:º |

To call passengers who go right on their ways: |
 9:16
Whosoº
[is] simple,º
let him turnº
inºº
hither:º
and [as for] him that wantethº
understanding,º
she saithºº
to him, |

 9:16
Whoso [is] simple, let him turn in hither: and [as for] him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, |
 9:17
Stolenºº
watersº
are sweet,ºº
and breadº
[eaten] in secretº
is pleasant.ºº |

 9:17
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret is pleasant. |
 9:18
But he knowethºº
notº
thatº
the deadº
[are] there;º
[and that] her guestsºº
[are] in the depthsºº
of hell.º |

 9:18
But he knoweth not that the dead [are] there; [and that] her guests [are] in the depths of hell. |
