 11:1 ¶
Early in the morning were they cast off, the king of Israel has been cast off: for Israel is a child, and I loved him, and out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} have I called his children. |
|
 11:1 ¶
Whenº
Israelº
[was] a child,º
then I lovedºº
him, and calledºº
my sonº
out of Egypt.ºº |
 11:2
As I called them, so they departed from my presence: they sacrificed to Baalim, and burnt incense to graven images. |
|
 11:2
[As] they calledºº
them, soº
they wentºº
fromºº
them:º
they sacrificedºº
unto Baalim,º
and burned incenseºº
to graven images.º |
 11:3
Yet I bound the feet of Ephraim, I took him on my arm; but they knew not that I healed them. |
|
 11:3
Iº
taughtºº
Ephraimº
also to go,ººº
takingºº
them byº
their arms;º
but they knewºº
notº
thatº
I healedºº
them. |
 11:4
When men were destroyed, I drew them with the bands of my love: and I will be to them as a man smiting [another] on his cheek: and I will have respect to him, I will prevail with him. |
|
 11:4
I drewºº
them with cordsº
of a man,º
with bandsº
of love:º
and I wasº
to them as they that take offºº
the yokeº
onº
their jaws,º
and I laidºº
meatºº
untoº
them. |
 11:5 ¶
Ephraim dwelt in Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; and [as for] the Assyrian, he was his king, because he would not return. |
|
 11:5 ¶
He shall notº
returnºº
intoº
the landº
of Egypt,º
but the Assyrianº
shall be his king,º
becauseº
they refusedºº
to return.ºº |
 11:6
And in his cities he prevailed not with the sword, and he ceased [to war] with his hands: and they shall eat [of the fruit] of their own devices: |
|
 11:6
And the swordº
shall abideºº
on his cities,º
and shall consumeºº
his branches,º
and devourºº
[them], because of their own counsels.ºº |
 11:7
and his people [shall] cleave fondly to their habitation; but God shall be angry with his precious things, and shall not at all exalt him. |
|
 11:7
And my peopleº
are bentºº
to backslidingº
from me: though they calledºº
them toº
the most High,º
none at allºº
would exaltºº
[him]. |
 11:8
How shall I deal with thee, Ephraim? [how] shall I protect thee, Israel? what shall I do with thee? I will make thee as Adama, and as Seboim; my heart is turned at once, my repentance is powerfully excited. |
|
 11:8
Howº
shall I give thee up,ºº
Ephraim?º
[how] shall I deliverºº
thee, Israel?º
howº
shall I makeºº
thee as Admah?º
[how] shall I setºº
thee as Zeboim?º
mine heartº
is turnedºº
withinº
me, my repentingsº
are kindledºº
together.º |
 11:9
I will not act according to the fury of my wrath, I will not abandon Ephraim to be utterly destroyed: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One within thee: and I will not enter into the city. |
|
 11:9
I will notº
executeºº
the fiercenessº
of mine anger,º
I will notº
returnºº
to destroyºº
Ephraim:º
forº
Iº
[am] El,º
and notº
man;º
the Holy Oneº
in the midstº
of thee: and I will notº
enterºº
into the city.º |
 11:10
I will go after the Lord: he shall utter [his voice] as a lion: for he shall roar, and the children of the waters shall be amazed. |
|
 11:10
They shall walkººº
afterº
Yahweh:º
he shall roarºº
like a lion:º
whenº
heº
shall roar,ºº
then the childrenº
shall trembleºº
from the west.ºº |
 11:11
They shall be amazed [and fly] as a bird out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and as a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will restore them to their houses, saith the Lord. |
|
 11:11
They shall trembleºº
as a birdº
out of Egypt,ºº
and as a doveº
out of the landºº
of Assyria:º
and I will placeºº
them inº
their houses,º
saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 11:12
Ephraim has compassed me with falsehood, and the house of Israel and Judah{gr.Juda} with ungodliness: [but] now God knows them, and they shall be called God's holy people. |
|
 11:12
Ephraimº
compassethºº
me aboutº
with lies,º
and the houseº
of Israelº
with deceit:º
but Judahº
yetº
rulethºº
withº
El,º
and is faithfulºº
withº
the saints.º |
